Town: The small village of Hope near Minsterley lies in the beautiful South Shropshire Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just 12 miles from the medieval town of Shrewsbury. Hope boasts two pubs, and close by in Bishop's Castle is the oldest licensed brewery in the UK. The village of Minsterley is just 2.5 miles away offering many amenities including a small Co-op, petrol station, Post Office and a butcher. Nearby Shrewsbury, one of England’s finest heritage towns with over 600 listed buildings nestles on a loop of the River Severn. Admire pretty cobbled alleys and squares and enjoy the many festivals on offer including Shrewsbury’s Summer Season, plus the town has a magnificent 11th-century Abbey, as well as a castle, which is home to the Shropshire Light Infantry Museum. There are plenty of interesting things to do in the area with the National Trust’s Attingham Park and Powis Castle, Wroxeter Roman City, the museums and World Heritage Site at Ironbridge, and the castle and timber framed buildings of Ludlow. All this, plus wonderful walking country over the South Shropshire Hills and many mountain biking trails nearby, makes the village of Hope the perfect starting point for your Shropshire adventure.
