About this property
Back Beach Cottage - Two Bedroom House, Sleeps 4
This pretty pink fishermans cottage and home of the coxswain of the lifeboat 110 years ago, offers an ideal holiday base for a family or friends in the charming seaside town of Teignmouth. Sleeping four guests, it is moments from the Back Beach and harbour full of character and interest with lots of marine activity on the River Teign. Take a 300-metre stroll to the sea and sandy Town Beach ideal for swimming, picnics and relaxing. A splendid open-air heated lido is directly behind the seafront promenade, and you can pick up a drink and snack in one of Teignmouth’s many shops and eateries. Take a walk along the fine Victorian Pier, have fun on an adventure golf course with a Dinosaur theme, and cross the River Teign aboard the pedestrian ferry. On the far bank is the pretty village of Shaldon, where there is a smugglers tunnel to Ness Beach, a small zoo for endangered and rare animals, and more charming pubs and restaurants. Historic Exeter (16 miles) and rugged Dartmoor (12.5 miles) are both within easy reach.
Enter the hallway of your holiday home and find the bright, open-plan lounge/diner to your right. This generous space has ample cosy seating, with a large, L-shaped sofa and an armchair where you can relax and watch the Smart TV. An impressive stone chimney breast houses a coal-effect gas fire, perfect for a warming glow on chilly nights, further enhanced by soft lighting and pictures. A dining area with a charming round table and chairs at the far end of the room is ideally placed for planning tomorrow’s adventures over shared meals. The streamlined galley kitchen, with a small breakfast bar for two, has all the culinary tools keen cooks might need to rustle up tasty suppers. Upstairs, you’ll find a good-sized family bathroom with a walk-in shower, and two inviting bedrooms. Delightfully furnished in soft tones, they comprise a king-size and a spacious twin with lots of storage space.
Outside is a small, pink-painted courtyard with shrubs. Unload your belongings close to the cottage, and park in a choice of public car parks, 200 metres away.
