About this property
14th Century Retreat
This 14th-century Grade-II listed Welsh manor house set in 8 acres of private grounds, is the perfect all-year-round retreat for a memory-making getaway with family and friends whilst enjoying the great outdoors. This picturesque, tranquil setting in Talsarnau boasts far-reaching views towards the sea, the perfect spot to return to nature and uncover the true natural beauty of the Ardudwy area of Gwynedd. Keen walkers can spend hours discovering the surrounding grounds or conquer the magnificent mountains and valleys of Eryri National Park (4.5 miles). Nearby Harlech (3.5 miles) is home to a wonderful selection of independent shops, restaurants and cafes, as well as the Royal St David’s Golf Course, a gloriously golden beach and the iconic castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Italianate village of Portmeirion, with its architectural heritage and stunning setting, can be reached within 6 miles.
Sympathetically restored and combining period features including original beams, high ceilings and restored Georgian panelling with contemporary charm, this homely hall welcomes you with a truly warming atmosphere, beginning from the delightful entrance hallway. The spacious kitchen/diner, which boasts exposed brickwork, a wood burner and contemporary country cottage-style décor, will capture your imagination, inspiring you to whip up something delicious with your fabulous local produce. Flooded with natural sunlight, the generous dining room provides the perfect setting for the whole party to gather and enjoy a glass of something chilled. Surrounded by original Georgian panelling with a roaring wood burner at each end, the homely lounge sets the scene for pure relaxation; the piano adds a touch of sophistication. If you’ve got plenty of energy left, let off some steam in the games room, set in the oldest part of the hall, which features a bar, old beams and an iconic inglenook fireplace with log burner. Light and airy, the atrium is the perfect peaceful spot to plan tomorrow’s adventure before star gazing long into the evening. A utility boot room and one charming en-suite super-king-size zip-and-link bedroom (which can be made up as a twin on request at time of booking) are welcome additions to the ground floor. Featuring wonderful views and plenty of period touches, the further 12 bedrooms upstairs offer a haven of tranquillity to retire to. There is an en-suite double bedroom, an en-suite single bedroom, an en-suite family bedroom with one king-size and one single bed, and nine en-suite king-size bedrooms to choose from.
Soak up the stunning scenery by exploring the 8 acres of surrounding private grounds, which offer plenty of scenic walks, a walled garden, an orchard, a woodland that features a small lake and runs into a natural Victorian pool (perfect for wild swimming), and a paved terrace to enjoy.
