About this property
Cosy chalet, ideal for couples. The perfect base for exploring Glencoe.
The Bunkie is a cosy chalet perfect for couples taking a short break. Situated in iconic Glencoe metres from the sea and surrounded by the mountains.
If you plan on spending a lot of time indoors then the Bunkie may not be for you, it is a small space. However, if you are coming to the area to explore then you will find the Bunkie has everything you need for your Highland Holiday.
The kitchen is complete with an integrated washer/dryer, toaster, kettle, oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, pantry, coffee maker, utensils, a pull out dining table and chairs.
The living area has a comfortable bed settee, wall mounted fire and tv. There is 4G wifi included.
The bedroom is accessed by a very steep stairs. It is actually the last of the Ballachulish Railway sleepers. This makes it very cool and quirky but is not suitable for elderly, infirm or small children. Upstairs, there is a double bed, a single bed with an additional pull out single bed, lockers and chests of drawers. The windows upstairs overlook the mature gardens or the Pap of Glencoe.
The shower room downstairs features a walk shower, wc and washhand basin with vanity cabinet. The entrace porch is tiled with a panel heater and coat rack for drying off your kit.
The Bunkie the ideal base for exploring the glorious scenery. In front of the house are the burial islands of the Clan MacDonald, worth a paddle. The Glencoe Massacre site is a 10 minute walk. The lost Valley in the Glen should not be missed. For the mountaineer there are some incredible climbs and hikes all around the village. Glencoe ski resort is a ten minute drive great for downhill mountain biking. There is a cycling path literally from the front of the cottage, which is tarmac path that gives a glorious cycle with amazing views. Lots of local wildlife can be seen enroute with otters, sea eagles, golden eagles, red deer, badgers and pine martens. Common dolphins and porpoises are frequent visitors.
There is a coffee shop and art gallery next door - great for breakfast rolls or soup after a wet day on the hill. There are bars and local convenience stors in Glencoe Village and Ballachulish 10 mins walk west or east. Bigger shops are in Oban to the South or Fort William to the North.
The large back garden has a deck area with BBQ stand, table and chairs.
Castle Stalker, the Glenfinnan viaduct (made famous in Harry Potter) and the wonderful Isle of Skye are all easily reached by car.

About the host
Hosted by Tracey Smith

Hello, I'm Tracey your host. I have owned Minard Cottage and the Bunkie for nearly 25 years. I love looking after people and look forward to welcoming you. I no longer live in the area but am contactable at any time.
Why they chose this property
Glencoe is simply incredible. We are a sea view property surrounded by the mountains.
What makes this property unique
Minard Cottage is one of the very few authentic cottages dating back to the 18th century. The Bunkie enjoys its own history, having been a stop over for many famous climbers.
