About this property

SEAVIEW self-catering coastal bungalow in rural West Wight

Escape from the pressures of mainland life to our unique self-catering holiday village, situated along a narrow country lane in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the picturesque west coast of the Isle of Wight. It serves as a great base to explore all the island has to offer and is ideal for walkers, cyclists and families alike. 'Beware', once on the ferry you may never go back to your old life because its just like coming home. Even in peak season there are no coaches on the quiet roads, they call it ‘The Garden Isle’ for good reason. West wight is now officially a UNESCO Biospere Reserve, renowned for it’s Dark Skies to watch the stars. Sunsets and the large sky are spectacular from all bungalows.

The bungalow combines modern facilities with a traditional seaside holiday, providing comfortably flexible accommodation with one double (4’6”) and one twin single (3’) bedrooms. Beds are fully made up when you arrive and laundered towels are provided. Straps in the bedside table allow you to link the twin single beds together around the bed posts to form a Super King 6ft bed, if preferred. Sleep well in our bio-sphere clean air. A travel cot and high chair are available free on request, and a booster cushion is provided for young children. Doors in the twin bedroom open onto the rear patio for breakfasts in the rising sun. The bathroom has shower, sink and toilet. The kitchen area has gas cooker, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, washing machine, dishwasher, pod coffee machine, quality pots, pans, crockery and cutlery for six. All furnishings are to a high standard, and the cottage is spotlessly cleaned and sanitised for your safety and enjoyment. In the living room a wall mounted Smart 43” UHD 4k TV provides NETFLIX and other streaming services free of charge. Each bedroom has its own wall mount TV. Full fibre 100Mb broadband WiFi. Full gas central heating, plus flame effect heater in fireplace ensure your comfort. A round eight seater picnic table provides alfresco dining on the front patio, plus bistro table and chairs at rear. Two sun loungers complete the outdoor setting. A small BBQ with charcoal is provided.

Activities on the playing field range from 9-hole fun golf, crazy golf, pitch-n-put, safe fenced children’s playground, grass open tennis court, half size football pitch, or just fly your own kite. A trim trail follows around the pathways of a second field.

SPECIAL RED FUNNEL & WIGHTLINK FERRY RATES available on request.

About the host

Hosted by Mike or Pauline Donoghue

Host profile image
The owners Pauline and Mike live just a few minutes cycle ride away, in a sleepy conservation hamlet called Norton Green. We retired to the island in 2016, sunk our savings into buying 3 more holiday bungalows on Linstone Chine holiday village, and decorated all four up to a high standard, so that changeover cleaning became a joy all through the letting season.

Linstone Chine Holiday village is managed co-operatively by an elected commitee of bungalow owners. Some bungalows are second homes, while others offer affordable holiday lets to individuals, couples, families, and groups of friends. Brambles Chine Holidays offers four self-catering holiday cottages for hire. Each cottage combines modern facilities with traditional seaside holiday to provide comfortable flexible accommodation, and some of the best priced holiday lets on the island, if comparing like-for-like properties and locations.

Why they chose this property

SEAVIEW is situated on the 37-acre Linstone Chine coastal Holiday village, in the picturesque West Wight area centred around the Needles, nestling between fort Victoria coastal country park, Golden Hill Country park, and Colwell bay with its outstanding holiday facilities. It’s location in the quiet back row of the flat Brambles Chine section provides unobstructed views across a large playing field to the sea, allowing children to play within view, while you relax in the sun. Facing due south the sunsets and large sky are spectacular.

Walk along the beach to Colwell Bay, or 5-minute drive, where clear, calm water, and gently sloping sand and shingle makes an ideal beach for swimming, boat and paddle board hire, alongside modern café and Bistro restaurants.

An easy walk further along the coastal promenade brings you to Totland Bay with the pier and waterfront beach restaurants. For the fit, a walk up and over National Trust’s Headon Warren for the view, then on to Alum Bay with coloured sands, amusements, and boat trips around the Needles.

A short car or bus drive away, but still in West Wight, you can enjoy West Wight Alpacas, Newtown Estuary, Calbourne Mill, with many designated cycle routes throughout. Surfers and kite surfing enthusiasts will enjoy Compton Bay, plus it’s a great place to go fossil hunting and see the dinosaur footprints at low tide. Tapnell Farm Park is local and great fun for a family day out. This however only touches on what you can do on the Isle of Wight. It's best to check what's happening in the local paper, and pick up the free ferry brochure as you travel across.

Further afield is Carisbrooke Castle, Robin Hill, the Dinosaur Museum, Osborne House, Ventnor Botanical Gardens (search for Steep Hill cove), the Pearl Centre and the sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes.

Whatever you decide one thing’s for sure, the Isle of Wight has plenty to offer.

What makes this property unique

BAYVIEW and SEAVIEW are two doors away from each other, in the same back row of six within the flat BRAMBLES CHINE section, making them ideal for two families holidaying together, with uninterrupted views across the playing field to the sea.

CHINE COTTAGE is close by, also in the flat Brambles Chine section, next to the same large playing field by the sea, allowing children to play close by while you relax in the sun.

VALLEY VIEW is located in the separate CLIFF END section of the village, high on a hill with unobstructed views of the downs, plus sea views from left to the Needles, right to Yarmouth Bay, and Hurst Castle from the bedrooms. PLEASE NOTE: There is an unfenced gently sloping cliff behind properties at the rear, making this more suitable for families with older children, and couples. Our other three properties, with their proximity to the play equipment, are more suitable choices for young active children.
