About this property
A barn conversion that sleeps 12 guests in 6 bedrooms
A wonderful opportunity to stay in a very private charming barn conversion in the pretty village of Westbourne, whether you are looking for a get together with friends or a reunion with family, Shires Barn is the perfect place to stay and relax.
The property itself is nestled in lovely gardens and backing onto a lane with pretty walks along the river into Emsworth Town. Entering the house there is a large hallway with a WC and utility room housing the washing machine, airer, iron and ironing board.
Through to the heart of the house there stunning, high vaulted kitchen/dining/sitting room, all beautifully furnished with large comfortable sofas, smart TV, a huge dining table where you can sit and enjoy the delicious meal you have whipped up in the kitchen or why not try something from one of the local takeaways. This room is perfectly set up for entertaining and is set away from the sleeping accommodation so as not to disturb little ones.
The kitchen itself is very well equipped for you to self cater for your stay, including kettle, Nespresso coffee machine, dishwasher, Gas fired Aga, fridge/freezer, microwave and toaster. The huge centre island give you plenty of space to cook and prep your meals.
Back through the entranceway into the garden room with a small dining table and comfortable armchairs, where you can sit peacefully in the morning with your coffee and enjoy looking over the garden.
On from the garden room you will find the snug area with the big yellow sofas and large wall mounted smart TV, this is the ideal space for teens to escape. Here there is a further dining area with seating for a further 6 guests and a cabinet filled with board games.
On from the snug there are two ground floor double bedrooms and a bunk bed room. These rooms are all in the same area as the ground floor shower room.
Upstairs to the first floor there you will find the remainder of the sleeping accommodation. There is a twin room, a double bedroom with a cot, a family bathroom with bath and shower cubicle and finally the master suite with super king bed and en suite bathroom.
There are two main outside areas to Shires Barn, all garden areas are incredibly private with high walls surrounding the the boundary. Off the driveway to the east of the property is the main lawned area ideal for children to play. The central walled garden is a south facing sun trap and is accessed from main living area and the garden room, this is a more formal garden area with seating and a barbecue available in the summer months.
This really is a wonderful property full of charm and comfort.
Westbourne village is a pretty little village on the Sussex, Hampshire border. The village itself has a lovely bakery, some great pubs and a fantastic Indian restaurant as well as convenience stores. There is access from the bottom of the central garden onto Mill Lane which is a footpath leading to the River Ems and onto the town of Emsworth. This path also leads to the Alpaca Cafe, just two minutes walk, a unique experience you have to try during your stay.
Stansted House is a short drive away, its worth checking their programme of events before your visit for open air cinema, concerts and shows. The Pavilion cafe is in the gardens here offering some of the best breakfasts and lunches for miles, there are also beautiful countryside walks around the estate.
There is a never ending list of things to do while you are visiting the area. You can easily access Portsmouth to the west with outlet shopping at Gunwharf Quays and Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Heading just a little way to the east there is Ashing Park vineyard, a lovely day out for adults. Just a little further is Chichester with The Festival Theatre and Roman Wall walks. You can also head to Weald and Downland Museum, host to the BBC Repair Shop.
Shires Barn is easily placed for easy access to Goodwood, home of Festival of Speed, The Revival and the fabulous Glorious Goodwood.
