About the host

Apart from running La Taverna which we adore, we also work as designers specializing in luxury interiors worldwide, and we happily live between London & Italy.
The house renovation in Italy; from being a total medieval ruin has been our real passion & an inspiration to restore it these last few years. Using local artisans and craftsmen has really been special as well as making handmade lighting and detailing throughout ( see our fabulous six metre stairwell light sculpture images).
We have hopefully added lots of fine details that compliment the ancient stone, floors and beams to make it not just comfortable and welcoming, but also rather unique. We aim to maximise your sensory experience here and enjoy this hidden gem nestled in the green heart of Italy as they call it.

Why they chose this property
We fell in love with the unspoilt beauty of Umbria, the lush green hills and wonderful stone towers and hillside villages. The friendliness and warmth of the welcoming people is priceless. The delicious food with the local specialities, including untold types of mushrooms, cheeses, pasta as well as their local white and black truffles &chestnuts, to name just a few.
What makes this property unique
Its wonderful that the house's age and character is part of the local history as forming parts of the fortification of this beautiful medieval village with its castle and long heritage. An architectural gem and listed as a national monument too with its central grand staircase leading down to the now updated and modern garden, with its rather special green marble pool area. Truly unique in every way, with its amazing and spectacular views ( they say the best in all of Umbria :)
However what is also particularly wonderful and different is the advantage of being part of the village, yet being also totally immersed in nature having the hills all around you and yet having total privacy & tranquility. Feeling away from the noise and bustle of the outside world.(Although the large town is only a 20 minute drive away :)
So you really have best of both worlds; the convenience of the village (with is great for its local family run restaurant and shop ) yet having nature all around you watching the birds flying high against the most glorious views & sunsets.
