About this property
The Granary at Molecey Estate
The Granary was built in 1773 and is a Grade II* listed building
Set amongst 20 acres of spectacular gardens, and surrounded by rivers, ponds and streams, The Granary is a tranquil and private place to escape.
The highlights of the building include the large and comfortable sitting room on the first floor, with masses of exposed stonework and windows overlooking the gardens at tree-top level and mill pond on two sides.
Need more room? add The Duck House, a self-contained one bedroom retreat.
The space
The Granary has six bedrooms, all with king size beds. There are an additional two single beds in two of the top floor rooms to create a family suite.
Being a listed building, the bedrooms are cosy, only one is ensuite and on the top floor you do need to take care as the roof trusses are at head height for those slightly taller people.
There are four bathrooms, three with showers and one with a bath and shower over.
The highlights of the building include the large and comfortable sitting room on the first floor, with masses of exposed stonework and windows overlooking the gardens at tree-top level and mill pond on two sides. This room has the feeling of being in a ski-lodge and you can relax into the comfy sofas and listen to the mill stream running by. Full of light during the day and cosy in the evenings, it is a great place to gather and play games or watch movies with the surround sound TV.
The dining room on the ground floor has a beautiful oak extending refectory table which can seat up to 16 people. The luxurious furnishings and gentle candlelit ambiance provide the perfect setting for dinner parties during your stay.
Our kitchen has a large range cooker and a large American style fridge freezer, both suitable for a house full of friends. A dishwasher and washing machine, plenty of cupboards and Georgian pantry give you all the space and help you need on holiday. The main beam was signed by Thomas Ediss, the original carpenter in 1781. The Kitchen opens up onto the large terrace overlooking the mill pond and mill wheel. It is a lovely sunny morning place to enjoy breakfast or an evening BBQ on our new fire pit.

The mill pond at the front of the house is a great place to meet our resident swan family, the call of fen pheasants can be heard across the fields and a barn owl regularly hunts at dawn and dusk in the grounds. The River Welland forms one of our boundaries and is teaming with fish, the extensive gardens and islands are fantastic for exploring, picnics or den building.
