About this property
Biddlestone Farmhouse
Beautifully finished throughout, Biddlestone Farmhouse is a warm and welcoming rural retreat that blends original character with contemporary comfort—ideal for families or groups looking to relax, explore and reconnect. Set on a working farm at the edge of Northumberland National Park, this stylish and spacious home offers panoramic countryside views, peaceful walking trails from the doorstep, and a hot tub - the perfect spot to unwind under the stars after a day of discovery. With its setting in one of Europe’s largest protected landscapes and within the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park, it’s also the perfect place to enjoy wide-open skies and some of the clearest stargazing in the UK. You will be within easy reach of the vibrant village of Rothbury, with its independent shops, welcoming pubs and riverside walks, as well as the enchanting Cragside House and Gardens. Nearby, you can explore the dramatic Simonside Hills, the peaceful woodland trails of Thrunton Wood, or visit the historic Biddlestone Chapel, just a short stroll away. Further afield, enjoy a day out at the iconic Alnwick Castle and Gardens, famous as a filming location for Harry Potter and Downton Abbey. And for a dose of sea air, head to Alnmouth, where sandy beaches, scenic coastal walks and a round of golf by the sea await in one of Northumberland’s prettiest villages.
Step through the boot room which is ideal for storing coats, walking boots and outdoor gear, into a stylish and spacious kitchen/diner, the heart of the home. At its centre is an impressive exposed brick fireplace housing a traditional oil-fuelled Rayburn, complemented by a large dining table and a breakfast bar, perfect for relaxed breakfasts and sociable evenings. Every room has been thoughtfully finished, with elegant details like solid wooden doors, patterned curtains and quality furnishings creating a calm, understated sense of luxury. Off the hallway, you’ll find two beautifully appointed lounges, each offering an inviting space to unwind. Both feature wood-burning stoves, Smart TVs, and deep, comfortable seating—ideal for cosy evenings in or long, leisurely afternoons. Large windows draw in natural light and offer calming views across the garden. Also on the ground floor, just off the kitchen, is a well-presented single bedroom with an en-suite shower room. This additional room adds flexibility to the layout and is perfect for guests who prefer ground-floor accommodation.
Upstairs, the accommodation continues with two spacious family bedrooms, each with a king-size and single bed. One benefits from an en-suite shower room, while the other enjoys dual-aspect windows and a tranquil seating area. A third king-size bedroom, also with an en-suite and a relaxing spot to sit and unwind, offers a welcoming and restful retreat. There’s also a bright and cheerful bunk room, perfect for younger guests, and a well-appointed family bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC.
Surrounded by rolling countryside, the farmhouse’s generous enclosed garden offers a private haven to enjoy the fresh Northumberland air. There’s plenty of space for children to play or for the whole group to relax together in the sunshine. A large patio area is furnished with outdoor seating and a BBQ perfect for long lunches, evening drinks, or alfresco dining in warmer months. To one side, a sheltered hot tub awaits, offering a blissful spot to unwind at any time of day whether you are easing tired legs after a hike or soaking under the stars with a glass in hand. This peaceful outdoor setting makes it easy to slow down and enjoy the natural beauty all around.
The property also provides off-road parking for up to four cars, and with walking trails leading directly from the doorstep, it’s perfectly placed for exploring the surrounding countryside without even needing to drive.
