About this property
Lakeside Oast - Three Bedroom House, Sleeps 6
Located a stone’s throw from the market town of Tenterden and the picturesque beaches of Rye, this charming getaway, set in 3 acres, enjoys views of rolling Kent farmland and the fishing lake; countless walking trails begin from the doorstep. Rolvenden offers wonderful country pubs serving seasonal dishes and beautifully scenic country lanes that await to be explored on foot or by bike. For wine connoisseurs, you will find two vineyards within just 6 miles of the property. Nearby Hole Park, a historic country house set in over 200 acres of superb parkland, can be reached within 3.5 miles. For more history, visit Bodiam Castle (9 miles) and see its original moat, towers and portcullis. Visit Kent and East Sussex Railway (4 miles) and enjoy a steam or diesel powered railway experience through the beautiful Rother Valley. Known as the 'Jewel of the Weald', pick up some wonderful local produce from the quirky independent shops of Tenterden, 5 miles away. From countryside to coastline, enjoy a traditional bucket and spade day at the seaside at Camber Sands, 14.5 miles away.
At the end of a long day exploring the local trails, kick off your walking shoes in the entrance hallway and follow the inviting warmth of the roaring wood burner into the open-plan lounge/diner. Featuring beautiful wooden beams reminiscent of times past, this endlessly social space boasts a truly warming ambience that invites guests to unwind and dine with loved ones long into the evening. At the heart of this home-from-home, nestled within the roundel which once formed a working part of the original Oast, the spacious kitchen perfectly combines contemporary touches with country cottage style decor that adds a touch of pure sophistication. Sharing the same charm and character as the ground floor, the super-king-size bedroom upstairs is also nestled within the roundel part of the building and offers access (via a curved staircase with no handrail) to the second floor which boasts a quaint reading nook and elegant en-suite shower room. There is also one double bedroom and one twin bedroom on the first floor, and a stunning family bathroom with a quirky curved brick-wall shower and roll-top bath; unwind with a long soak, enjoying views across the countryside.
Make the most of the fresh countryside air by dining alfresco with a glass of something chilled in the enclosed garden, admiring breathtaking rural vistas. Within the 3 acres of shared grounds, you’ll find a wonderful fishing lake stocked with koi, carp and tench (operating on a catch-and-release policy).
