Friedrichroda is also a real hiking paradise. You can explore nature on many well-signposted hiking trails and the famous Rennsteig is in the immediate vicinity. In winter, well-groomed cross-country ski trails, interesting downhill runs, horse-drawn sleighs and toboggan runs provide variety. Excursions in the surrounding area include: Marienglashöhle, Reinhardsbrunn Monastery Park, Hainich National Park, Oberweißbacher Bergbahn.
