The Neighborhood:
Old Jaffa is not like the rest of Tel-Aviv - and you feel it immediately. Old and new, ancient and bohemian collide to create a vibrant neighbourhood where art galleries, design boutiques, and restaurants lie side-by-side to archaeological excavation sites. Old Jaffa is a maze of Ottoman sandstone homes along narrow, winding alleyways with beautiful Mediterranean-blue doors and shutters that make it feel like you're worlds apart from modern Tel-Aviv and its many high-rises. You need to climb a lot of stairs to reach Jaffa Square that lies on top of Jaffa Hill, but it’s worth it just for the stunning view of Jaffa Port - a working port and cultural attraction with art and photography exhibitions. Even though Old Jaffa is a must-see for most people visiting Tel-Aviv, it’s actually located outside the city centre as it’s its own city, but for what it lacks in location, it makes up for with its unique atmosphere, historical monuments, and charming flea markets.
