About this property
Finest Retreats - Cowslip
Welcome to Cowslip - set in the heart of North Devon’s Ruby Country, this charming and spacious retreat is the perfect escape for families and groups looking to explore the countryside and the many beautiful locations North Devon has to offer.
You'll be surrounded by 33 acres (shared with other properties on-site), providing a peaceful setting with plenty of outdoor space. With the famous Tarka Trail just eight miles away, the location is ideal for walkers, cyclists, and four-legged friends eager to discover the area’s breathtaking landscapes. A public footpath meanders through the grounds, and guests are welcome to fish in one of the owner’s three coarse fishing lakes - just bring your own rod and enjoy a peaceful afternoon by the water.
Inside, the property has been thoughtfully furnished to provide a welcoming and comfortable stay. The open-plan kitchen/dining space is bright and airy, with a well-equipped kitchen featuring an electric cooker, microwave, and an American-style fridge. A separate utility room houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and additional WC for added convenience. There is a separate, quiet sitting room featuring a smart TV and an electric reclining sofa, and a ground floor bathroom with shower adjacent to the living area.
Upstairs, guests will find four well-appointed bedrooms, ensuring a restful night’s sleep after a day of adventure:
• Bedroom 1: Kingsize bed with en-suite shower room
• Bedroom 2: Kingsize bed
• Bedroom 3: Three single beds
• Bedroom 4: A flexible twin/zip-and-link room or triple single room on request
• Bathroom with bath, shower over, and toilet
Well-behaved dogs are welcome, though we kindly ask that they remain on leads when exploring the 33 acres, as this is a working farm. We are a truly dog-friendly home, providing a special welcome pack for your four-legged friends, including towels, dog tags, tasty treats, and homemade pup cakes. After a day of exploring, an outdoor tap and hose are available to wash off muddy paws. For our human guests, we offer delicious home produce, including jams, Jane’s famous marmalade, and fresh free-range eggs from our happy hens. When in season, you’ll also find home-grown fruit and vegetables available in the charming little honesty shed shop.
Private parking is available for three cars, and secure bike storage ensures cycling enthusiasts can make the most of the nearby trails.
Bradworthy, just two miles away, offers charming village shops, a 14th-century pub, and all the essentials you may need during your stay. The stunning North Devon coastline is within easy reach, with picturesque spots like Clovelly, Bucks Mill, and Hartland offering breathtaking sea views and coastal walks. Nearby Bude, a haven for surfers and beach lovers, is only ten miles away and boasts golden sands, fantastic restaurants, and family-friendly attractions. For a fun-filled day out, The Big Sheep and The Milky Way adventure parks are close by, while the enchanting villages of Boscastle and Tintagel, as well as the famous Eden Project, are all worth a visit.
Please note that dogs should never be left unattended in the property during your stay. We kindly ask that you keep your furry friends with you at all times.
