About this property
The Old Cottage
The Old Cottage, Sudbourne.
A charming and very spacious three-bedroom thatched cottage quietly nestled in the village of Sudbourne. The property features ample parking, a lovely garden, and three reception rooms (sitting room with log burner / dining hall / drawing room).
The space
Situated within the Suffolk Coasts and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Sudbourne is a popular village with a thriving community, a beautiful 14th-century church, and superb, scenic walks.
Neighbouring Orford (2 miles) is an especially delightful village set on the River Ore. It is home to the award-winning Pump Street Bakery, a superb village store with postal services, two public houses and the Butley Orford Oysterage.
The village is a popular centre for watersports and home to Orford Sailing Club, there are also playgrounds and football fields.
Within the stunning Suffolk Heritage Coast are an array of other attractive towns and villages. Snape (3.5 miles) is home to the internationally renowned concert hall at Snape Maltings. Aldeburgh (9 miles) famed for its close association with the composer Benjamin Britten offers a selection of independent shops, galleries and highly recommended restaurants.
This charming and cosy home is the perfect retreat from the busyness of everyday life. In keeping with this peaceful atmosphere, we’ve deliberately chosen not to have a TV—instead, we invite you to relax, explore nature, and enjoy the quiet surroundings.
But don’t worry—if you still want to stay connected, there’s excellent broadband throughout the house, so feel free to bring your laptops or tablets for entertainment, streaming, or work.
Whether you’re seeking a digital detox or just a change of pace, our home offers the ideal space to relax and recharge.
It also features a Jack and Jill bathroom shared between the king and single rooms, offering both comfort and convenience for families or small groups.
One of the highlights is the beautiful wrap-around garden, providing plenty of space to relax, play, or enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Inside, you’ll find a wood-burner stove that adds warmth and character to the living space, but please note that the other fireplaces are not functional. For safety reasons, no BBQs or candles be used during your stay.
Guest access
The property has two staircases, one of which is quite steep and open on the landing area and as such we feel that the property is not suitable for younger children (under 7). By all means, let us know if you have young children - we are happy to discuss feasibility.
Other things to note
The property features ample parking, a lovely garden, and three reception rooms (sitting room with log burner / dining hall / drawing room). The bedrooms are configured as follows:
1 x Double bed
2 x Single bed
1 x King
There is also a sofa bed which can be made up in the sitting room (please notify us if you require the use of the sofa bed as there is a linen charge of £20).
PLEASE NOTE:
-- There is no TV on the property.
-- The log burner in the sitting room has been decommissioned and is no longer working and must not be used.
-- The Fireplaces in the property are non-functioning.
