About this property
At Home in Bergerac - 40 metres from The Riverside
Our town gîte is a quirky, fully equipped 1-bedroom home in the very centre of Bergerac, on a popular square less than one minute's walk from the Dordogne River and the Tourist Office.
A really uniquely comfortable stay for two people, it also has a sofa bed for extra guests. The wide entrance leads to an open kitchen/dining area, as you would expect in the South of France, with a comfy sitting area for pre dinner drinks.
If you'd like to mingle on the square in front of the house, outdoor furniture is provided. You can open the doors and windows wide to get immersed in the Summer buzz, or close-up completely for perfect peace, quiet and privacy. Or anything in between!
Upstairs is a small lounge - a bright but cosy place, perfect to relax and read or do a bit of people-watching. The large and sturdy sofa bed is in this room if you have an additional person to stay. The shower room and double bedroom are also located on this floor.
The whole property is tastefully decorated and retains the features of the old building, while providing modern touches to ensure your comfort.
Whether you do your own cooking magic in our fully-equipped kitchen, get a takeaway in or choose to eat out (your neighbours across the square are four wonderful restaurants, each with a unique character) food will be the beating heart of your visit! You're less than three minutes walk from a wealth of fantastic bars and restaurants to suit all tastes and all budgets around the old town, and don't miss the farmers' market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings for the best eggs you'll ever buy! Frying pan ready!
Only ten minutes from the airport, you're at home almost as soon as you've landed, and you'll find all the amenities you'd expect when you're settled-in, Wifi, air conditioning and all the usual appliances (see list).
One point to note is that whilst the house is in a great location it doesn't have a parking space. The nearest car park (free) is about three or four minutes walk away. We'll provide full information on parking prior to arrival.
We offer a personal service and fast communication prior to and during your stay. If you have any questions or if you need us to fix anything, we can respond quickly in English, French, Polish and Swedish.
We can assist with organising taxis or transport to and from the airport, and give advice on local restaurants, wines, events, trips, attractions, tours and things to do in Bergerac and the other lovely villages nearby - don't hesitate to ask!

About the host
Hosted by George Lennan

We're an Anglo-Swedish couple living in France for 25 years, This is our first year renting out this house in Bergerac, but we have a long experience in the holiday rental business having had a Gite in the Vendée for ten years before our work took us to this region. Today we live in Bordeaux, so your holiday will be taken care of by Martin and Kamila (Scottish and Polish! It's like the United Nations here!) who are seasoned professionals with a vast local knowledge and practical ability to fix every problem quickly. As well as being the best people for the job, they're close personal friends and we know how very well they'll take care of you!
Why they chose this property
We love the traditional feel of Bergerac and particularly the local markets, the friendly local restaurants and so much to do in close proximity. The transport and road links also make life easy, as they will do for our guests. We particularly love that the airport is so close.
What makes this property unique
Comfort, originality and elegance in one of the best summer spots in South West France
