About this property
Large, carbon-neutral, 4-bedroom cottage near Whitwell, Isle of Wight
Ferndale is a large, charming, four bedroom Victorian cottage on the Isle of Wight, set in idyllic countryside, with a beautiful garden, stunning views of surrounding fields and walks from the doorstep. The house was recently refurbished to a very high standard. It sleeps 8 comfortably, and in addition there is a cot bed in one room.
Everyone will feel comfortable at Ferndale, and the cottage is well-equipped for families with young children.
The master bedroom, kitchen and lounge have magnificent views over the downs. The lounge with large windows in addition to French doors onto the patio, is a beautiful, light, airy room with a log fire place for cosy winter stays.
There is a large, gated, well maintained garden, with plenty of room for children to play and a driveway with parking for two cars. At the bottom of the garden there is a large wild flower meadow, which is part of the property.
Although there are walks to suit people of all ages and abilities from the door, Ferndale is just a short drive from the some of the island's best beaches and tourist attractions. You'll find several excellent pubs in the area, including one in nearby Niton village, where there are also good shops - a 15-20 minute walk from the house.
The master bedroom has a new, extremely comfortable super king bed and two armchairs in which to relax and admire the stunning views over the garden, fields and downs. The second bedroom has a king size bed and is at the back of the house, with views over fields. Bedroom three has 6ft bunk beds and a cot bed, and views over the garden and fields to the side of the house. Bedroom four is downstairs and has twin beds.
There are two bathrooms upstairs. One is adjacent to the master bedroom and has a large walk in shower, bidet, toilet and wash basin. The second bathroom has a bath, with shower, basin and beautiful views over the downs. There is a separate toilet and basin next door.
Downstairs there is a spacious entrance hall and cloakroom with toilet and basin. The lounge has two sofas and two arm chairs; it seats eight in comfort. There are beautiful views and a fireplace for winter stays. The dining room also seats eight and there is a high chair available.
The kitchen is new and fully equipped. The sink is under the window and has breathtaking views over fields. There is a breakfast bar, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, large fridge / freezer, oven and hob, as well as a microwave, kettle and toaster.
There are several benches in the garden. There are also two tables, eight chairs and a BBQ in the garage for guests to use.
Children are welcome!
There is a cot bed, high chair, and a selection of books and toys for young children (2-5).
Please bring your own beach towels as these are not provided. Should you wish to use the cot you will need to provide your own bedding.
