About this property
Ty-Mawr | Self Catering Stone Farmhouse near Bala, North Wales
Ty-Mawr is an impressive detached self catering stone farmhouse in Llanuwchllyn just outside Bala in North Wales. This part of North Wales is very popular with adventure sport enthusiasts and hopefully you'll find this cottage a perfect base from which to explore.
There's a nice well equipped country style kitchen diner complete with a very attractive and locally crafted oak table. A modern oven and electric hob as well as a dishwasher, microwave, large double drainer sink etc are all included. The washer dryer is in the adjacent storage shed / extension. This storage shed is secure and there's plenty of room in there for boots, bikes or even wind surfers.
Two leather sofas sit in a large comfortable lounge in this self catering stone farmhouse. The paintings that adorn the walls are by a locally renowned artist and depict the beauty of this rural area. The log fire is naturally very welcome after a day of walking in the hills or sailing across lake Bala. A large flat screen TV should help entertain when the weather might be against you.
A nice feature of this property is the second lounge or study next door. If you've lost the battle for the remote control you might like to retire gracefully to this area and read a book in front of a second warming log fire.
Only two bedrooms upstairs which may seem strange for such a large property. One twin bedroom and one double bedroom. Both the bedrooms enjoy fantastic views over the rolling hills and mountains of this rich and fertile part of North Wales. The curtains, linen and ornaments are all tastefully chosen and complement the cottage nicely.
I've left the best room till last. The bathroom is fantastic. It's huge and dominated by a large freestanding roll top bath which looks out on that lovely view we talked about. There are of course no neighbours to worry about in this secluded self catering stone farmhouse. There's also a separate walk in shower and a nice white bathroom suite.
We’re happy to welcome 3 well-behaved dogs! Please keep them supervised at all times and don’t leave them unattended. To keep the space comfy for everyone, we kindly ask that they stay off the furniture and out of the bedrooms.
Feel free to bring their favourite bed, blanket, and anything else to make them feel at home!
The wood burning hot tub is very much a "hands on experience" as it isn't the electric instant switch-on kind. On arrival, you will need to fill the hot tub with fresh water, then light the wood burner and wait for it to heat up. You do have to make sure you make a roaring fire and during the colder winter months, this needs to be done a few hours ahead of using of the hot tub. Please note, additional logs need to be purchased to heat the hot tub (available locally). Enjoy!
