About this property
Oak View - Holbrook - Two Bedroom House, Sleeps 4
Escape the humdrum of everyday life in this peaceful bolthole in the quaint Suffolk village of Holbrook, 6 miles south of Ipswich. The pet-friendly cottage sleeps four guests, perfect for couples and small families who adore getting out and about. There are some fabulous walks to explore in and around the village, including along the banks of the River Stour and at Holbrook Creek. Further afield, visit the stunning Dedham Vale (10 miles) and the mesmerising landscapes of Constable Country. You’ll also be just 2 miles from Alton Water, with its network of walking and cycling routes. Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy sailing and windsurfing here too, and it’s a great spot for fishing and birdwatching. For a day at the seaside, journey to the charming coastal town of Felixstowe (16 miles). Stroll along the promenade, admire the floral displays at the seafront gardens, and eat ice creams on the long, sandy beach. Other popular days out from the property include the foodie haven of Suffolk Food Hall (3.5 miles) and the family favourite of Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park (6 miles). The rural hideaway beautifully blends traditional furniture with contemporary decor and design. Large windows let in plenty of natural light, and frame relaxing views of the surrounding fields and forests. Inside, leave muddy walking shoes in the boot room, before heading through to the heart of the house – a spacious, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with sliding French doors opening onto the garden. This space is decorated in calming, natural tones and is the ideal spot to relax after a long, countryside walk. Rustle up delicious feasts using local ingredients in the stylish kitchen area and gather at the dining table to admire the far-reaching rural views before cosying up on the sofa in front of the roaring wood burner. Rounding off the ground floor is a stylish bathroom and a handy utility cupboard. Upstairs, two inviting bedrooms await, both featuring gorgeous, antique-style furniture and enjoying tranquil countryside views. You’ll also find a shower room on this level, along with a third room with a sofa and a lovely desk. Outside, the enclosed garden has a sunny patio area with outdoor furniture, and beyond that is a large lawn that’s perfect for playing outdoor games. The garden enjoys uninterrupted views across fields, forests, and the River Stour. Private parking for two cars.
