The Mohican Cabin, named after the movie "Last of The Mohicans" (which was filmed in Chimney Rock). It is a two level two bedroom two bath cabin with wood interior and 1231 sq of living space. On the main level is the private master bedroom with king size bed and skylight above, perfect snow watching in the winter or warming up in the summer to bright sunlight. There is a full bath down the hall.
The living room has a stone wood-burning fireplace and TV. The kitchen is equipped with a cozy dining area to enjoy your meal after cooking on the gas grill. The upstairs level has a full bath and a queen bed in an open loft area with skylights. After spending the day at
Chimney Rock Park hiking, or going for a boat a ride at Lake Lure, pull up a rocking chair and rest on your private deck or relax in your private hot tub. accommodates up to 4. This cabin has wi-fi. Firewood not provided.

Satisfied stay

Very satisfied for the most part. Only draw back was the very steep incline to get to the home and only one spot to park a car. There was however an area across the street to park. Cabin itself was very nice and we enjoyed our stay.

Our Stay

My husband and I were celebrating our 14 year anniversary. We wanted somewhere secluded and romantic. When we looked at photos it looked nice. When we arrived it took us a while to figure out where the house was. When we walked in the house stunk and it was not cleaned. We have used VRBO many times and all the places we have stayed at was fully stocked with kitchen supplies and this house very little. We also had house guest we didn't want. Bugs, lizards and spiders. The hot tub didn't work either. We were very disappointed. The good thing I can say was it was 2 minutes from Chimney Rock and we had so much fun exploring the little town. I highly recommend The Highland Kitchen and Bar!!

Nothing there so take everything and the hot tub is broke just gets hot no jets work even though he said it works!

A lesson on how to neglect a nicely built cabin

The property was disgustingly filthy. Sticky dishes, food on “clean” towels, squirrel in laundry room closet, frayed rugs, broken dirty hot tub cover, sliding door almost inoperative, generally dirty throughout with cobwebs and dust/dirt everywhere. Dim lighting made it impossible to read. Why is such a well-built structure been neglected for so long? Be assured that i am not a "clean freak", but just an ordinary person who expects to be able to stay in a healthy house,

Very nice quiet spot

Had a AWESOME Valentines weekend with my girlfriend the place was clean nice and cozy the hottub did great the 1st night but couldn't seem to get it to temperature the 2nd night prob cause it was so cold out its only a mile or so from the state park and a bunch of neat little shops grills and whatnot right down the road too will definitely be going again perfect little get away for lovers

Romantic getaway

Fireplace and hot tub were great for romantic getaway. Only minor negative was the fireplace was full of ash on our arrival. Lots of burntout candles were left throughout property

Dirty Old Cabin

Upon arrival the cabin was not marked so we had no idea what cabin was ours. We found the name plate on the ground. The cabin smelled like sewer the entire time. They have sewer gas coming back into it. The kitchen and bathrooms where so dirty. The fireplace ash had not been cleaned out and was full. The hot tub was set at 108 degrees....too hot to stay in and after 2 minutes was about to pass out. The water was so full it over flowed with 1 person. When the water was over flowing we notice the outside electrical outlet was out of the wall and open!!! Trash left in cabin....boxes piled up in corner. Would have enjoyed the views if I could actually see out of the windows. The windows are so dirty you can't see out them. The slider has a broken seal and is all fogged up. The bed in the loft is about to break. I laid across to see the firmness and the bed moved so much I was afraid to sleep on it so we stayed on main floor. The carpets are stained and not vacuumed in bedrooms. Under the bed looked like it hadn't seen a vacuum in months. In the kitchen was a dead cockroach about 3" long on the floor. I had to wash anything I used....cup, plate, etc. The cabin needs a remodel desperately. Will not stay there again!

Great Cabin with Minor issues

PROS- all the important things were good -hot tub was amazing, private deck -king size bed very comfy -living room furniture comfortable -fireplace was very nice CONS- do-able but not awesome -had to VRBO to get assist with keycode to get in -owners didn't answer several messages over a weeks time, including how to get into the cabin (very poor communication with owner, I'd recommend having check in info before you leave for this cabin) -weird smell in the dirty kitchen cabinets (like dead animal maybe) -felt the need to wash every dish before I used it With all that said, I would stay here again. The positives outweigh the negatives. :)

Wonderful time!

My family and I have just enjoyed our stay at the Mohican Cabin. It was an exceptional location, close enough to town (Chimney Rock Village) for a 20 minute walk, which is important, especially during busy times. The owner, Jerry, is extremely hands on. Upon our arrival the cabin was very cold due to the recent winter storm and within 24 hours he was able to provide three additional space heaters. He was also quick to provide recommendations on must-do attractions nearby. The cabin is ideal for a family. The cabin provides incredible views of Chimney Rock. The hot tub was a welcome escape after a day of hiking through Chimney Rock State Park. The fireplace was welcoming & inviting. Jerry's cabin offered a cozy atmosphere and we will definitely be making another trip to the Mohican Cabin again soon!!

Romantic getaway

Great cabin, had a few issues but owner and manager very responsive. I would suggest giving a few more directions for checkin, especially if checking in after dark. Overall very nice.

Cabin getaway amazing

We had an amazing stay. The hot tub was perfect, the location was up the hill away from everyone else. House had kitchen items and a grill, fireplace. The res so many places you can buy wood from in the area too so no worries finding some. The only thing I would suggest is to bring some Redboxs. The cabin does have DVDS. We were 10 mins from chimey rock and 15 to hendersonville and lake lure. Perfect location. Overall our stay was so fun and we look forward to coming again next year.

I should have listened to the other reviews

This is the first time I have done a review, but this place was disappointing enough that I feel it was necessary. We've stayed in many mountain cabins, and this one we certainly the worst of them. I read the older reviews but had hoped things would have been improved. I wouldn't have written a bad review like this, but it's obvious the owner hasn't addressed any of the concerns over at least a few years so just didn't want anyone else to be as disappointed as we were. Sorry to Jerry the owner, but if you don't invest in your properties you can't expect to have happy customers that will give you good reviews

It could be a nice place , but the kitchen was dirty with mouse dropping underneath the cabinets. The shower was not clean . It definitely has a need for updates and repairs.

So Much Potential!

This cabin has a lot of potential to be amazing. Unfortunately it was not. The Positives - Location is awesome! The way the house was built with the wooden walls are beautiful.The wood burning fireplace worked well and we used it nightly as it was super cold in the house otherwise. The Negatives - We are not picky and did not expect perfection with a cabin but this house is in serious need of a deep cleaning. The skylights would be beautiful, if you could see out of them, even after we had a really long and hard rainstorm it did not help at all. The cobwebs in between each rail of the stairs looks like no one has been here for months. The windows were also just as dirty. It looks like the cleaning crew does the absolute bare minimum to keep this house in order. It is extremely off putting to find 4 different kinds of rat/mice killer in the bathroom cabinets (thankfully we did not see any) We did kill two HUGE spiders a day which we think were coming from somewhere in the downstairs bathroom. The hot tub did not get hot. The bubbles worked but no matter what we did, it never got hot. In the closets of the bedrooms, extra blankets were crumpled in a ball looking like someone just shoved them all in there and the ones on the beds all had a moldy and musty smell. It looks as if it was once loved awhile ago but it has been left to just deteriorate and no one is no longer putting any effort to take care of its upkeep. With a little TLC and updates this rental would seriously be amazing.

Difficult to find no view if all you want is a place to sleep it is okay.

Driveway very steep would be difficult in rain. Not all of the electric plugs worked. The cabin sleeps four in comfort. It would be nice if their were 4 place settings, glasses that matched and 4 chairs that matched for the table on the porch. The table in the dining area sags in the middle. For someone like myself directions as to how to open the lock would be helpful.

Clean, cozy and perfect for our small family

We had such a wonderful time staying at the cabin! Very clean and had everything we needed. My son loved the fireplace and the hot tube! Would recommend to anyone and we hope to go back and stay again!
