Private Waterfront Getaway - Ultimate in Work-From-Home Luxury

The Bluff House was built for romance and private, quality time spent with family and friends. One look and you'll understand. Charming architecture, warm, inviting spaces, exquisite finishes, and a private, intimate setting all whisper romance. Three bedrooms and three baths sleep eight (8) comfortably. Head down the sturdy beach stairs for access to miles of sandy beach accessible only to residents and their guests. Need less space? Rent just The Bluff House at VRBO #1178172 . Please also see this listing for additional property reviews.

Built in 2017, the Bluff House is 1,300 square feet and sleeps 4 with two bedrooms and two baths and is rented along with The Loft. The Loft (an identically-finished space above a detached garage) adds an additional 450 square feet. This space makes an ideal home office with fast internet, water view, its own bath and kitcheonette. If you're bringing the family - The Loft also houses a luxurious queen bed and twin trundle bed to accommodate an additional 4, for a total occupancy of 8.

The space is scrupulously clean and every room delivers a water view, and light floods into the home from every direction. There are warm wood and tile floors and a generously-sized gourmet open kitchen with high-end stainless appliances. The centerpiece of the home is a large, two-sided concrete Rumford fireplace that is easy to light and magical to watch - indoors or out! A large dining table seats 8. The quartz-topped bar offers barstool seating where guests can interact with the cook and enjoy the views. Need less space? Reserve just The Bluff House at VRBO #1178172.

Accommodations
There are two separate (but close) structures that sleep a combined 8 guests. The Bluff House sleeps 4 in two queen bedrooms with two baths. Both bedrooms have unobstructed water views. The Loft is a finely-finished space above the detached garage that sleeps 4 in one large room with a queen and twin trundle beds — and also offers a lovely water view.

Bedroom one occupies the entire upper floor of the home - and is partially open to the living room below to take full advantage of the soaring ceilings and light. There is a queen bed with a quality pillow-top mattress and an elegantly tiled bathroom equipped with hotel-quality towels. The walk-in shower delivers an exceptional water view. From a set of glass doors, you'll step out onto the balcony to bask in the moonlight, or watch the sunrise with a mug of hot coffee. We enjoy lying in bed and watching the marine traffic pass by - exquisite!

Bedroom two is on the main floor and is home to a queen bed with quality memory foam mattress and cotton-rich linens. There is a full bathroom with walk-in tiled shower down the hall.

The Loft is a large, bright and open space with a queen bed and twin trundle beds to accommodate 4. There is a large tiled bath with walk-in shower. A bar sink, toaster oven and coffee maker keep the unit self-sufficient.

Gourmet Kitchen
We love to cook and to entertain and you'll find everything you need to prepare and serve memorable meals in our fully-equipped kitchen. There's a commercial gas range, dishwasher, European-style fridge - and all the cookware and serving ware you'll need. We even include a generous variety of spices and necessities like olive oil and tea. Just bring your fresh ingredients - all else is here for you to prepare gourmet creations for your family and friends. And did we mention the large propane BBQ on the deck - waiting for your steaks, ribs or portobellos?

Utmost Privacy
The home offers the utmost privacy. Views of Puget Sound, the Cascade Mountains, Whidbey Island and Mount Baker greet you from every window. A sturdy set of newly-constructed stairs takes you to a fabulous private soft sand and driftwood beach, ideal for beachcombers and afternoon picnics.

It's in the Details
We've furnished and equipped the home with your comfort in mind. Rich cotton sheets, down duvets, and fine pillows adorn the beds. Fluffy towels and warm tiled floors greet you in the baths. We keep the home stocked with amenities like shampoo and toothpaste, just in case you forget your favorites.

Technology
We know - you say you're ready to get away from it all. But, it's still nice to know you've got options if the boss calls. High-speed, satellite wireless internet connectivity throughout the home and loft ensures you can get the information you want - should you decide you want it. There's also an EV charger available for your use.

Entertainment
A generously-sized 55" flat screen smart TV and DVD player will keep you entertained. A large selection of DVDs awaits your browsing as well. The home has Sonos WiFi speakers - which connect instantly to your phone or laptop. Download the Sonos app and you're good to go!

Outdoor Spaces
The Bluff House is alive with outdoor spaces. A covered deck, graced by a large outdoor fireplace, propane BBQ and ample seating invites you to enjoy the salt air. Upstairs, an intimate balcony is ideal for morning coffee or an evening nightcap. A viewing platform at the water's edge is ideal for stargazing or a sundowner. With over 800 square feet of decking and an acre and a half of wooded grounds, you and your guests will find the perfect outdoor space - whether you seek company or solitude. The outlook is simply stunning - marvel at the shipping traffic, cruise ships and pleasure boats and watch the currents race at the top of Foulweather Bluff.

Hit the Beach
A sturdy set of newly-constructed beach steps take you down to a spectacular sandy beach. Walk for miles in both directions, or simply spread out a blanket and soak up the views. There are approximately 80 steps down - but we guarantee it's worth the walk! The beach is private, so you may have it all to yourself - or you may get to meet one of our friendly and gracious neighbors.

Warm Heated Floors
Hate cold feet? Us too. The Bluff House is equipped with a propane-powered hydronic heating system that keeps every inch of the floor (even the shower floors!) warm and toasty. It's quiet, efficient and well, fabulous.

The Bluff House was designed as an escape for romance-seeking couples (and their inevitable kids, in-laws and besties). We built the home for ourselves, and the finishes reflect the high-end care and attention of someone building for the long term. The home is warm, inviting, calming and well, romantic. It's the perfect place to ground yourself and your romance before returning to the real world.

Other things to note
There are 80 secure steps down to the sandy beach. Guests may use the stairs but assume all risk in doing so and are urged to proceed carefully and use handrails. At the base of the stairs is a drop-down section controlled by a winch. Guests much be at least 18 years of age to operate the winch. No one may be on the drop down section during raising and lowering.

Excellent modern property with great fireplace and beach access

This is a lovely modern home with access to a special sandy beach. We enjoyed the fireplaces with firewood pre-stacked. Kitchen was well stocked. Good outdoor grill. We had a 3 year old and a 6 year old with us. The extra beds in the apt. above the garage worked well for them. Grandparents slept in the main house. The main house bedrooms don't have much sound separation so I was glad we could park the kids elsewhere. One negative was no curtains on the apt. windows, so bedtime was in bright light. (Maybe add some blackout curtains.) The beach is down below a cliff with stairs. High tide turns the beach into a sliver of soft sand, great for wading in but difficult for traversing the beach for long walks - then at low tide you can walk long distances in either direction (there's a rope swing farther down) yet it's all rocks and barnacles (need footwear) but good for exploring. The kids loved it either way. A surprising negative - just sharing in case you have young children - the table has slats, which is terrible for drawing pictures or for spills. Also note that the owners are strict about guest totals. To follow their rules we had to tell some friends they couldn't come who wanted to visit for one day. But overall it was really lovely! 5 stars even with the aforementioned pecadillos.

Perfect getaway

We were 6 adults catching up for a week. This property was secluded enough to be quiet but close enough to all the amenities we could want. Gorgeous sunrises and amazing views!

The Foulweather Bluff House

What a welcoming, well-planned house. Smart spaces, cohesive details, modern systems. A mesmerizing indoor/outdoor fireplace. Rock-solid stairs connecting the bluff to the sound. Resident eagles. And a view that inspired much needed silence.

A little piece of Paradise

This property was exactly what our family was looking for. Very centrally located to all of our planned activities. We explored Seattle, the San Juan’s Islands and the Hoh rain forest. The house has amazing views of the water where we watched wildlife from the deck as well as container ships, Navy vessels and sailboats. The beach is a beachcombers dream and we had it entirely to ourselves for the whole visit. The owners were extremely helpful and responsive. We were provided with everything we needed and they were very quick to respond to any inquiries. The house is even better than the photos indicate. Highly recommended. We absolutely loved our stay here.

Wonderful stay at the bluff house

We had a great vacation at the bluff house. Tina had thought of everything to make the most of our stay. The house is amazing, views of a lifetime, incredible dinners by the outdoor fireplace, beautiful kitchen and baths, immediate access to beautiful hikes, islands, wale watching, amazing private staircase to deserted beach. We really enjoyed it and so did our young children, with some staying in the beautiful guest house which felt like a great adventure to them. Highly recommend this house and host.

Best family vacation!

We loved sharing this beach house with another family. The kids had their own space which was fun for them and us! We enjoyed exploring the beach and day tripping in the area. The house is beautiful, great beds, kitchen and outdoor fireplace. We would love to do this again next year. Thank you Tina and Dale!

Perfect Family Getaway with Adult Children

Beautiful location, easy to get to, spotless brand new house with amazing view of Puget Sound. What more could you ask for? Well, there's a well-equipped kitchen, views from all bedrooms, really cool indoor/outdoor fireplace with overhang and spacious deck to have BBQ's. Our family enjoyed the beach access via stable stairway, Sonos house sound system and how quiet and private the setting was. We really enjoyed spending quality time together as a family of 5 adults, and this was the perfect place for that. Tina was amazingly responsive to our queries and made our stay fantastic. Overall, highly recommended!

Great experience

This home suited our needs when we gathered family from different states to celebrate our patriarch's 99th birthday. He lives in the vicinity. We enjoyed great ocean views (although fog plagued most of our days there). We became experts at watching for otters, whales, and salmon rising. Some fished and the kids loved roaming the beach. The two fireplaces were perfect for our evenings together. The baths are beautiful. We prepared all our meals in the modern kitchen, which has all conveniences necessary. It was perfect for us and we hope to return.

Loved this place!!

This home is amazing and was the perfect getaway for our family. So many nice extras like the shampoo and conditioner in the bathrooms, the soap by the kitchen sink, the well-stocked kitchen, it was wonderful. The bathrooms are spacious and beautiful. The view is spectacular and we loved the outdoor fireplace. With the covering over the deck we were able to enjoy a crackling fire even when it was raining. The walk along the beach was also beautiful. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay. If we return to the Seattle area we would definitely reserve this home again!

Beautiful spot! Beautiful house!

We loved it, loved it, loved it! Gorgeous house with a spectacular view that could be enjoyed from the living room or the spacious deck. The kitchen was modern and well equipped and the baths were all very new. The only things that could have made it better were if there was more storage for food (we had groceries for 6 people for 4 days) and more storage for clothes in the loft. We'd highly recommend a stay here!

Beautiful property with luxury linens, high end appliances and a breathtaking view.

The home was full of windows and had an amazing beach access. The owner gave us the high and low tide times to make the best out of our beach combing experience. There is an eagles nest near the house and many deer come by in the early hours to visit. The view of Puget sound was spectacular.

Breath Taking Views & Pacific Northwest Craftsmanship

What a wonderful surprise to find in North Kitsap! This home is a beautiful northwest contemporary design that takes advantage of the stunning views of Puget Sound. The homeowners went above and beyond to insure that our stay during the holidays was wonderful and welcoming. The kitchen is well stocked with amenities for any gourmet cook and the home is comfortably furnished. The beach is accessible and walkable. We enjoyed watching the ships pass by along with daily visits by a seals and a couple of young eagles. We will definitely be back to enjoy this beautiful home.

Owners Dale and Tina Ingalls are working professionals who completed construction of The Bluff House in 2017. Dale works in commercial construction. Tina is a writer. We have three magnificent children.

Why they chose this property

We love the water - you'll always find us on it, near it - or in it! We also love high-quality, efficient spaces - and it is these factors that prompted us to build The Bluff House. When we're not enjoying the home ourselves, you'll find us sailing or pursuing other water-centric adventures. We're sure you'll fall in love with the home, just as we have.

What makes this property unique

The views from The Bluff House are simply exceptional - and you feel truly connected to the sea. We love lying in bed with a hot mug of coffee and watching the sun come up. We also love snuggling on the deck with a glass of wine in front of the outdoor fireplace. Beach walks are a favorite adventure too. Here, bald eagles are seen every day, along with deer, ravens, hawks, owls, seals and sea lions.
The Bluff House is exceptionally private and has an inherently romantic feeling.
