This review is a house divided. My husband really enjoyed the house and it's simple lifestyle. I have to be honest and say it wasn't my favorite. I think just go into this rental knowing it's going to be a very basic stay. The view is nice, but the furnishings are a hodge podge, and the structure of the house felt a little piece meld. It's also pretty remote if you are wanting to sight see in Maine. About 10 minutes away is a grocery store, taco bell/KFC, Applebee's, and a fast food Italian place. But everything else was pretty far. Overall it was an okay stay, but don't go into it thinking you're getting luxury.
Please was super clean and I only wish we could’ve spent more time there. Had a great vacation. Owners were very helpful and super friendly. Made us feel like family right away. We will definitely be back in the future!
It was so nice to take a break from reality here. We had such a nice time on our vacation and really were able to reconnect as a family without all the chaos of our day to day. We grilled and had fires and explored the area. This was a great location for getting a boat tour, having a nice dinner out, or staying in and watching the waves, birds, and bumblebees. The sunrise was particularly beautiful from the deck. The hosts were right there, very friendly and welcoming. Thank you for your hospitality!
We had a lovely stay at Centerview Cottage and the owners, who live next door, could not have been nicer - they greeted us when we arrived and even cheered for us once we got up the courage to jump off the dock into the freezing water! As other vacationers have noted, the cottage is a bit rustic, curtains instead of a door for the bedroom, but it has everything you need and the location cannot be beat - right on the water with osprey and at least one seal right in front of us! Also great for easy access to Orr and Bailey islands. Lastly, the wifi was very fast and the a/c was great! Wonderful stay.
Had a great stay at the Centerview cottage! Views were spectacular, saw lots of wildlife right from the deck. We enjoyed paddling around the area with the kayaks and jumping in for a quick dunk from the dock.
Can’t wait to come back next summer.
Connie and Mike were so helpful before and during our stay, answering our multiple questions so we would know what to bring with us, that there was ample parking for 3 cars, etc. when we needed anything during our two weeks they were right on it, including texting to offer us fresh towels, etc. before we thought to ask. Having them next door was a bonus, as we could chat about where to paddle to on their several kayaks, or where to go out to eat. These personal touches made all the difference in how we felt cared for, while being able to enjoy plenty of privacy on the large floating dock or on the gorgeous front lawn overlooking the ocean bay. The cottage was perfectly located halfway to the spectacular tip of Bailey Island, near ome fantastic hiking trails, and close enough to Brunswick for all out needs. It was a perfect vacation for us!
We had such a lovely stay at Centerview cottage. My only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer! The view from the cottage is beautiful with easy access to the water. Connie, Mike, and Mike jr. were all super helpful and welcoming. The location - a short drive to wonderful hikes, beaches, and towns - can't be beat. We hope to be back!
We enjoyed our time at this property so much, it was clean, comfortable and the views and water access were perfect! Connie and Mike were such great hosts. Connie went out of her way to make sure we had a great weekend and we did!
Nice enough but a little rough. Older home that is fixed up some for rental. Furniture is older but OK. Floors a little uneven. AC was a window unit and portable unit and they struggled to keep up with 78 degree days. Everything worked though and the stay was nice. Location is under an hour to Portland which is nice yet it is very remote area with pretty views of the water. Lots of places to take 1.5 to 2.5 mile wooded walks. Good food in the area withing 20 minutes.
Home was very clean, comfortable, cozy and included all the essentials. Loved the water views and easy access to the dock. Husband enjoyed fishing off the dock and I enjoyed shopping at the Freeport outlets. It was a great relaxing vacation and hated to have to leave but will definitely be returning next year. The owners Connie and Mike are great people which we enjoyed chatting with.
After 6 days is crowded Bar Harbor, this was a perfect spot to relax. The weather was perfect, the views were great and the house had everything we needed.
Nice little cottage on the water. My husband and I stayed for one night on our way up to Canada. The hosts were easy to contact and allowed us to bring both our dogs with us. There is access to the dock and the hosts have plenty of safety vests for those who are staying on the property. Very nice porch to sit on and watch the water and the lobster boats go by. The only issue we had was that there are no doors for the bedrooms (the downstairs bedroom has a curtain over the door frame for privacy)-- not a big deal for the bedroom upstairs, but the downstairs bedroom is right next to the living room; this could be challenging if you are traveling with people who go to sleep/wake up at different times. I also recommend bringing an eye mask if you prefer to sleep in-- as another reviewer said, the sun is bright in the morning (I used this as an opportunity to watch the sun come up over the water, but I can see how others might want to sleep in). There are plenty of books and some games to play; I did not see a DVD player, so consider bringing a laptop or tablet if you have kids.
We had a great stay. Rustic cabin with beautiful water view, quiet. We had no issues. Overall location is close to a lot of attractions which is what we wanted. Plenty of outdoor space for our fur-kids! Thank you for the wonderful stay!
Beautiful view and serene atmosphere. It was nice of owners to allow us to use their kayaks and life jackets.
