Went to son’s MTU graduation. Very much enjoyed our stay! Had originally planned to stay at local motel but this had so much more room for similar price. Like other reviews, outside of building was questionable, but inside was spacious, clean and comfortable. Would definitely book again.
Nice location for downtown houghton and to MTU. The outside does make you second guess but the apartment inside was perfect for our needs. We enjoyed our stay!
This property was very neat and clean. Nice 3BR updated in an old building with character. Super convenient off the trail for our snowmobile trip. The host was super and everything was great.
Very clean and roomy upstairs apartment with a small grassy area for our dog. We loved the convenience of the location. Exploring the Keewenaw was wonderful ahead of our son’s MTU move-in.
The apartment was great for us! The beds are firm but comfortable. Had an issue with the kitchen sink and it was taken care of right away. Would stay again.
The property was convenient to downtown. Nice view of the canal. Was a heat wave when we stayed so ac would have been nice. Good breeze in the am. Overall would stay again.
Easy to find if you follow the directions and listing accurately describes what you’re getting. Windows open and ceiling fans on for nice comfortable check in day , recommend “official “ window opening stops and new toilet.
We were in Houghton for the weekend for ski races and needed a dog friendly place to stay where we could get good sleep and have a good breakfast to start the day. This fit our needs, was clean and quiet as well. Thank you!
It was great! The little dirt road path is hard to find in the dark and the property isn’t marked on the outside so it’s hard to know if it’s the right place until you walk in.
But it was clean and spacious and definitely a great choice
Great unit. Bedrooms were comfortable, kitchen very usable. It is close to downtown but not really walkable to anything.
This unit will be on our "return" list, we were very impressed!
Had a quick visit. Property is in great location and is a good size for multiple guests. It is in a very old building with uneven floors, but has a lot of character. Our kids chose not to stay with us because they were creeped out. It’s not the cleanest place we’ve stayed in, either. Linens were fine, but there were a lot of flies everywhere. Flies on countertops, floors, windows, etc. Some alive, some dead.
I recommend owner put at light or reflectors at end of drive, as it’s difficult to see as well.
Don’t let the outside of the building deceive you.
Updated property with lots of character

Great space!
Clean and spacious. Worked great for us.
The $1,500 deposit seemed a bit extreme (although it was during Winter Carnival) and was refunded after I inquired.
Loved the original woodwork, doors, etc. And the large historical print in the downstairs entryway (with the building highlighted) was very cool!
Don’t let the outside of this house deter you!!! The outside looks very old and really not all that appealing, but the inside is just as described!!! Very clean and updated with plenty of space for our large family. Beds were comfy. Kitchen was well stocked with dinnerware/pots/pans. There is no dishwasher, which was a bit of a bummer, but overall not a big deal. My only suggestion would be to upgrade bedding to something a little nicer and have extra blankets somewhere in the house (we couldn’t find any). Communication was terrific. The price, especially for MTU family weekend, was perfect! We would definitely stay here again!!!
Great place just outside of Houghton and pet friendly!
We travelled here for a tour of MTU for our son. We enjoyed learning about the building/apartment that was once a part of Houghton’s smelting history. The building owner was great when we thought we had an issue with the cable (our lack of being tech savvy). He even stopped by to assist us. Would recommend to anyone who has dogs and needs a place to stay in the area.
