Enjoyed our stay

This is a very nice house in a nice area. We didn't spend much time at the house except to sleep because we were always on the go to Yellowstone and other sightseeing. Would definitely stay here again.

Exceeded Expectations

Excellent house. The owners were very responsive to any and all requests. Special shout out to Pam. She was awesome, from sharing information about the area and things to do and spending time with us to make us feel welcome. The unit is very well maintained. If and when we do return to the area, we will definitely be booking with Kade.

Relaxing vacation

I picked this house for the location and beautiful view. The neighborhood was perfect for a peaceful trip to Montana. Easy drive to Yellowstone National Park and Bozeman for shopping. Visited the rivers and lakes near by and captured some gorgeous pictures while we fished. We enjoyed watching the wildlife in the mornings drinking coffee on the back porch. The house was great, beds were comfortable. The owners are easy to reach. I would stay there again if we make a trip back to Montana. The drive from Texas was a journey to remember with beautiful scenery.

Great, modern, super clean residence with all amenities

Four of us called this residence home for 3 nights. Telephone check-in was a breeze. The floor plan was great with bedrooms on either side of the spacious kitchen, living and dining room. The wives loved the well supplied kitchen. On our last day a herd of antelope crossed to the open field passing within yards of the back porch. Ennis and this home make a great base to visit Yellowstone Park, Virginia City or fly fish the nearby rivers. i need to mention the house sits in a vast valley of multi acres homes spread far apart to give one the feeling of being on a prarie surrounded by mountains.

On the way to Yellowstone

Beautiful valley - the home was as described; however, as others have mentioned, the property could benefit from some additional decor and furniture to add comfort and homeyness. Some comfy chairs to enjoy the wonderful views from the decks would be great. House was clean but dishes weren’t run from previous guests. Attention to the yard would improve the first impression of the house - weeds all around the front porch, garden, and steps up to the front door.

Nice - but needs some comfy details

The home was clean and nice open concept between kitchen, dining and living room. Bedrooms were big and beds were comfortable. There were no extra pillows or blankets but requested from Pam and she brought them over. Bathrooms where big and modern with washer and dryer in the hall. A few things that I would suggest would be to add shades to all the east facing windows and lower windows to the west. In the mornings the sun was blinding when eating breakfast and sun shining on the TV in the evenings was difficult to watch. Loved the windows but needed some shade at certain times of the day. The living room definitely needed end tables beside the couch and a few throw pillows. The wicker chairs need to be replaced with comfortable chairs and more wall decorations need to be added. The back deck has a great view and the white chairs are comfortable to have a few drinks in the evening. FYI - there are sled dogs near by that can break the silence but cannot be heard inside. The private fishing access was very nice and remote but this time we did not catch any fish there. We did catch a 21 inch brown trout in Bear Trap Canyon and the weather was in the low 70's which was unusual for October. The town of Ennis is very nice and we had a great steak at McCallister's.

Beautiful home and neighborhood

My husband and I had such an amazing stay at Kade and Pam's Vrbo property. The home was SO clean and spotless! Pam left us homemade cookies and blueberry bread when we arrived and they were delicious! Both Pam and Kade were very responsive and helpful with any questions we had, and we can't say enough great things about the beautiful views from their property. There are pronghorn all throughout the neighborhood and the sunrise/sunset each morning was just spectacular. We definitely recommend this property!

Peaceful retreat

Clean, quiet, comfortable. The property manager left us some delicious baked goods which was such a thoughtful touch since we arrived in late and didn’t have time to get to the store. We stayed here as our base camp for a whole week. It was the perfect place to come back to after day trips in Yellowstone, and also to just spend the day reading and taking in the beautiful mountains surrounding the cabin on our “rest” days. Definitely want to come back!

Needs something

House is fairly new located in a developing subdivision. Houses are on 3-6 acre and 250 feet apart. House has no air conditioning. Four 6 x 6 windows are uncovered and facing due west into sun. We were able to keep it below 80 deg with the windows open and a generous breeze. Cools off after 9. Explains why the huge fans are in closet Doesn’t have comfortable chairs. Leather loveseat is comfortable. Has52 inch flat screen TVs on wall 18 feet from sofa. Walls are basically empty of anything except a couple of garage sale prints hung 8 feet up on the wall. If you are expecting a warm inviting home you will be disappointed. Beds are. Good. Some attention to bed covers and some blankets would be nice. Kitchen had couple of cookie sheets small sauce pan, 2 qt sauce pan and large boiler 4 qt. Two allclad stainless fry pans and 1 9” non stick pan. Stove top is gas and cooks very hot. Oven seemed to not be as hot as thermo said. I increased temp by 40 deg to bake biscuits. Could use a couple of 12” non stick pans and a Pyrex baking dish or two Knives and utensils were adequate. Several good mixing bowls and dinnerware was is plenty for 4-6 folks. Some condiments and spices were remaining Might consider microwave meals. Roll of paper towels was provided. Had keurig coffee thing and an old brew coffee maker. Main area had couple of coarse rugs/floor mats. Living area needs side tables , reading lamps. Wall decor. Wicker chairs belong on the patio.

About the host

Hosted by Kade Birkeland

Host profile image
Kade is born and raised in Montana and Noelia is from Peru. We enjoy travel, the outdoors and road biking. We also love to spend time with our family Pam and Gary in Ennis.

Why they chose this property

The White Heart Lodge is our home that sits on 3 acres of land within Pronghorn Meadows southwest of Main St. Ennis. When deciding to build our home away from home, we fell in love with this property because it affords breathtaking mountain views within a short drive to downtown and private access to the Madison River.

As adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts, we find our home allows us (and you) to fill the long Montana days with fishing or boating on local rivers and lakes, skiing or snowboarding at Big Sky and Moonlight, hiking the Madison Range, Gravelly Range or Tobacco Root Mountains, or visiting nearby Yellowstone National Park or the surrounding towns of Virginia City, Big Sky, and Bozeman.

In the morning, you will be able to watch the sun rising over the mountains to the east from the comfort of your bed or while enjoying breakfast on the rear porch. If you do decide to stay in for the day, you will be able to spend time watching movies, playing games, solving puzzles or reading books and magazines in the living room beside the gas stove. Should you desire some alone time, the loft is perfect for contemplation or work from home with views. Come evening, you will be engaged by our home's open design. Whether you are filleting trout, having a drink at the bar, or sharing stories around our hand-crafted dining room table, memories among family and friends are sure to be made.

What makes this property unique

The White Heart Lodge is designed to capture Montana's charm and natural beauty. Our home encompasses an open design and includes a loft and front and back porches with mountain views. The gas stove, western art, and wood beams provide a sense of comfort, while the loft, french doors, and windows draw in reminders of surrounding nature. The bedrooms each have a mountain view and are separated by the shared space, providing a reprieve when needed. In addition, guests will appreciate the space afforded by 3 acres of land as well as our home's proximity to downtown and private access to the Madison River.
