About this property

Two bedroom beach-view house - East Cape of Baja Mexico.

Casa Breezes (Brisas) is a self-catered and self-operated two bedroom house located in the breathtaking beauty of the East Cape of Baja. The main floor features a large living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and covered and uncovered decks. The large second bedroom is on the 2nd floor with its own small kitchen, sitting area, bathroom, and sun deck. So the house it’s ideal for two couples (each floor is not available separately, you get the whole house). The house is accessible by car in about 1 ½ hours from San Jose Del Cabo and the Cabo Airport. It is situated in a small enclave of Canadians and Americans in the secure community of Castillo de Arena on a hillside overlooking fantastic sand dunes and the Sea of Cortez. The beach is a 12 minute walk or 3 minute drive away. When we are there we swim most days just off the large sand dune. Pickle ball and bocce ball courts close by. The community is 8 km south of Los Frailes, the start of Cabo Pulmo national park and a wonderful snorkel spot where you can buy fish directly from the fishermen on the beach. We are 16 km south of the town of Cabo Pulmo, a world-famous coral reef diving site where tours are available and 1hr 20 min from the Los Barriles kite surfing area. The home is about 1,900 square feet; the first bedroom is on the main floor, and the second is upstairs accessed by outdoor stairs. Both bedrooms have queen beds. The house sleeps up to 5 with an air-bed available for the kids or extra guests. One or two well- behaved dogs are welcome. Both bathrooms have showers and there are laundry facilities on the main floor. There is free internet, a BBQ (grill), and fully equipped kitchens. In the living-room, watch your netflix or listen to your favorite music. There is a BBQ area, and several palm roof shaded patios to lounge, gather for meals, and enjoy the breathtaking view. We often see whales frolicking off-shore and colourful sunsets over the mountains. The community is off-the-grid and operates on solar energy and propane. You won’t tell the difference though, except that hair dryers and toasters are not permitted as they drain the solar energy batteries. Our caretaker (English speaking) lives nearby and is available during your stay. Unlike some vacation rentals, we spend several months a year here so the kitchens are really fully equipped and the house is clean and well maintained. We have a UV purifying system for the water as well as bottled water available. All dishes, cooking utensils, bedding, towels, paper products, and cleaning supplies are provided. You will need to bring your own food.
Rates include 19% Mexican tax. Six-night minimum.

Peaceful, gorgeous, house with views in every direction. Off-grid, environmentally friendly luxury

We loved everything about Casa Brisas and hope to return very soon. We were worried it would be difficult to find, but the owner gave us perfect directions and the times were accurate to the minute. This house has views from every window and is an easy 15 minute walk to a beach where you will probably be alone the entire day! We also explored other nearby beaches (Cabo Pulmo, Los Frailes), and had fun snorkeling at all of them. The neighbors are so friendly and the little development even had pickle ball courts. We have been all over Mexico and stayed in all different types of lodging. We have to say this was our absolute favorite home and location.

Nice house but 40 minutes from Cabo Pulmo -not 20

The house is nicely decorated and has a good view of the ocean in the distance. It would be good for two couples as there are two living spaces (two queen beds total). We were very frustrated because we came there to dive at Cabo Pulmo as the property was advertised as being 20 minutes to Cabo Pulmo (the nearest town and also where the diving is). In reality it was 40 minutes if you drove safely on the dirt road even in a 4 wheel drive vehicle which should have been recommended. It was also at least 3 hours from the airport and therefore we arrived in the dark because we were told it was 1.5 hours. It was mostly on a dirt road. The road was narrow at times and there were curves and washboard. The property manager should have shown us where his house was so we could reach him when the internet went down.

East Cape Paradise

A friend and I stayed five nights at this sublime property a few weeks ago after touring other parts of southern Baja. We couldn’t believe our luck. This house is beautiful and well situated in a super friendly neighborhood of houses just south of Los Frailes Bay, 20 minutes south of Cabo Pulmo, just over an hour north of SJDC. House is Adobe style and stays comfortable day and night. Kitchen is well appointed and whole house is super clean. Nice new gas grill and gas chiminea outside on veranda. Excellent desert and Sea of Cortez view from everywhere in and on this house. The location is just remote enough to feel like you are totally out there, but still close enough to shoot into town for gas and groceries or up to Pulmo for diving. The caretaker, Wynn, speaks English and Spanish and is an excellent host with loads of insider local knowledge. He had us 4 wheeling up on mountain roads used mostly by local ranchers, deep into the desert mountains on a day too rough and windy to be on the ocean. Julie the owner is very helpful and also provides ample info on the house and area and gave us some very useful maps of the area and neighborhood which made finding the place a breeze. I have stayed in over 30 VRbO type properties over the years This has to be the best value in a stay I have ever had and one of my top few favorites. Will definitely be back, next time with my family!

Beautiful comfortable house in a stunning natural setting

Our best vacation rental ever! The house exceeded our expectations in every department. Large spacious rooms, high ceilings, nice decorations and comfortable furnishings. Three terraces provided beautiful outdoor living spaces that perfectly complemented the house and its setting. A fully equipped kitchen with a full size range and fridge allowed us to cook all our meals in comfort and style. The solar system provided all the power we needed even after a couple of cloudy days. It is rare to find a secluded, quiet, safe, and clean beach environment. Sunrises over the Sea of Cortez from the upper terrace were a definite highlight. The sunsets from the top of the nearby dune were also memorable. We enjoyed long walks on empty beaches, close to nature. The snorkeling at Los Frailes beach, a short drive north, was spectacular. We had no trouble navigating the gravel roads in our rented sedan. Patience is needed to negotiate the drive from the airport, but the reward is leaving the crowds and commotion of touristy Cabo far behind to experience Baja in its natural splendor. The host was responsive and helpful in answering all our questions. We would definitely like to return to this little corner of paradise.

A wonderful quite place to stay

We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Brisas! The kitchen comes well equipped, and the outside sitting areas are amazing!! The sky was clear every night and no light pollution so enjoyed sky full of stars! We enjoying morning coffee while watching the sunrise and saw quite a few egrets settled in the trees in early morning. I would have given it 5 stars but we were unable to get into the garage to use some equipment and by the time we got the correct keys it was our last day...we were here mainly for scuba diving in Cabo Pulmo.

Wonderful family retreat on the East Cape!

Wonderful place for our family getaway on the East Cape! Super comfortable space, loved this house. Julie was a superb host, attentive to our needs and responded quickly over email. I would definitely come back here the next time we find ourselves in Baja. The house is well designed for the elements - and as remote as it is, it does truly feel like a home, as opposed to just a vacation rental. Big kitchen filled with every utensil and pot you’d need to cook up a storm. We were here for Christmas and I even baked a cake! More than I can summarize here but some of the highlights of the house: Very comfy beds and pillows, tons of bedding, great couches, excellent water pressure, loved the shower design so you can rinse off easily after the beach, WiFi and Netflix on the TV is a big plus, (assuming the internet is working, which it wasn’t at first due to cloudy weather but, you’re on vacation right? Internet is a bonus but definitely not a necessity). The house is spacious inside and out - multiple decks to accommodate different weather conditions. The second bedroom is upstairs, accessible by an outdoor staircase, which wasn’t obvious to me from from the ad - or maybe I overlooked it. This would be perfect for two couples since there is a great separation of space. As a family of 4 with small children we werent sure how to do sleeping arrangements since we wouldn’t be able to hear our kids, so we just ended up all sleeping upstairs with the kids on the air mattress that Julie mentioned and it worked out fine. Not bad to watch dawn over the Sea of Cortez from the birds nest up there! The kids loved running the paved loop around the outside of the house so all in all, this was actually an awesome house for kids. I also liked the fact that the house is on solar electricity- we have a solar array at home but it’s still on the grid so it was kind of a cool aspect to be off the grid - it was never an issue, though it’s good to be sensitive to not leaving lights on. Our big goal here was the snorkeling and the proximity to epic snorkeling was awesome. We had our own gear but Julie has extra snorkels and fins in the garage, along with other beach items. I could go on but if you’re considering a trip to the east Cape or Cabo Pulmo you’ll just have to discover yourself how awesome this place is!

We rented several different homes in the area over a few winters before taking the plunge and buying this house in 2017. We couldn't be happier with the house and the community. The rest of the year we live in British Columbia, Canada.
