Comfortable, real-Nantucket house that warmed us through windy, chilly weather. Also comfortable and functional furnishings. Loved easy access to town and harbor. We were very happy with our stay.
We had a great week-long stay at this property. The location is convenient to walk to town, plus we brought our car over and the driveway was a great amenity. We enjoyed the outside grill and the yard for dinner with friends.
My mother and I stayed here in October. It was a quick walk to town. The beds were some of the best we’ve ever slept in. Overall a wonderful stay and we are looking forward to returning!
Great spot overall. Great location and the homeowner was very responsive. The one thing I would say is that the linens and towels did not seem very clean. Please be aware of this when you stay.
My friends and I enjoyed our stay. It was a convenient location to the ferry and bars and restaurants. The house was clean and we had great communication with our host. We’d recommend this to anyone!
Our group of 4 adults and 2 teens had the most perfect stay at this neat Nantucket cottage. The location is absolutely perfect for a walk into town, which we did frequently each day. The yard was lovely for relaxing and we even enjoyed a takeout meal at the outdoor table. We loved the outdoor shower as well. Despite its small appearance, the house is very roomy and has every amenity that you need. Greg was very easy to work with and communicated well. We would absolutely LOVE to stay here again!
You will not be disappointed. The location of the property is perfect. Far enough away from the downtown area that you don't hear the noise, but close enough to walk to everything. Greg is a great guy. He was quick to respond at the time of booking. Communication with Greg was great throughout the process, and he even provided helpful contact info for transportation and other helpful tips that made the stay stress free and very enjoyable! It's a very clean and well maintained home. Many thanks to Greg!
We spent four rainy, windy days on our first trip to Nantucket Fortunately, we got to spend more time in Greg's historic and surprisingly spacious home. A Plus are the appropriately modernized bathrooms and kitchen, although we didn't use the great stove, having opted to do all our dining at Nantucket's mostly outrageously expensive restaurants. This expanded Cape Cod styled home is furnished in a typical and comfortable Nantucket style. The beds are very comfortable (Rave reviews for the Master Bedroom mattress.) The private yard area with umbrella table and outdoor shower are also outstanding features that we didn't get to use. I recommend that you ignore the "Karen" comments below concerning the ceiling heights, particularly in the upstairs bathroom. The first floor ceilings are higher than the conventional height, except in the rear laundry area, but what's the problem? Staying here, You become part of the historic past of this typical Cape Cod historic home and hopefully you will appreciate the past and the legends of islanders that are part of this home's personality. Alas, we didn't encounter any ghostly presence! We shall return to this charming island and home.
In general, house is well kept/maintained. A few cons: we were the end of the rental season so A/C filter, dishwasher filter and ceiling spiders all needed to be cleaned. Also some may find old windows & screen door charming, but I prefer easily opening windows/doors with working screens. Pros: Great location, great host, good kitchen to cook in, overall clean property, nice side yard with outdoor shower. A/C in bedrooms is a bonus we appreciated. I would recommend this property to anyone as the pros far outweigh the cons.
We booked this property very last minute and it was perfect. Loved the location - easy walking to the harbor and town. Quiet. House was perfectly equipped. My family and I had a wonderful time and will definitely rent again :)
The house is quaint, quirky, and quintessential Nantucket. It’s a historic house conveniently located only a short walk along picturesque streets from Main Street and everything you come to Nantucket to enjoy. The home has every high-end upgrade you could want or need while totally preserving the beauty and charm of a house originally built in the early 1800s. There’s plenty of room for a family (we are a family of 6) with comfortable furniture that will make you feel like it’s your vacation home the moment you arrive.
As the owner will gladly tell you, it’s not the Ritz. We wanted Nantucket, not the Ritz. We wanted to enjoy a well appointed, private home in a quiet neighborhood with a beautiful backyard that has been carefully furnished and equipped with everything a couple or family could need to just relax, savor, and enjoy.
Sure the original wide plank floors are a little uneven in spots, but they have nearly 200 years of stories to share with each step. All the door jambs might not be square, but just imagine all the families who have treasured each time they opened them.
The owner is an outstanding host who clearly cared about our family, including texting us to make sure we made it back to the ferry during a stormy night.
Our family had a great time enjoying this home. If you’re looking to really feel like you’re vacationing on the real Nantucket, we recommend this home without reservation.
The only thing inaccurate about the listing is that the house is much bigger than we expected! The check in process was seamless, the house was nice and clean. And the location couldn't be better. Great walkability to the downtown area. They even had a pack and play for our baby which was extremely convenient. We would definitely stay there again.
perfect location, wonderful outdoor space with large gas grill which is fun to have people over for a cook out. Large kitchen with ample kitchen utensils. There were only 2 rolls of toilet paper in the whole house and no bars of soap or shampoo which was a bit disappointing. There are also no full length mirrors
I have rented all over the island for over 25 years, and sadly this was not what I expected. House is well located, does provide parking, was clean and does offer all of the amenities etc as outlined including updated bathrooms., laundry room and kitchen. . Gregg was very responsive throughout the booking process and while there took care of a small matter immediately. The good news stops there. It's the locations of said bedrooms (one requires passing thru either of the other two bedrooms to enter/exit ) and bathrooms (the second one on the second floor is totally useless for an adult...I am 5'7" and could not stand up straight in it nor turn around with the door closed); serious lack of closet space, especially in middle bedroom where there is none (and no hooks anywhere) To suggest 3 couples could stay there comfortably is really pushing it. House is old, yes, but over half the windows would not open. Yes, there are table top fans, screens for the windows that would open and a/c units in upstairs bedrooms. It must get brutal in the middle of summer.
Yard was a disgrace; it appeared not to have been watered, weeded or otherwise tended to all season. NO cushions for the limited outdoor furniture. No screen door on front door and screen on kitchen door falling off. Definitely would not recommend or return.
