My son and I enjoyed our stay overall.

Disappointed to find the row boat not available when we arrived. However, owner offered to drive up and get it out of locked shed when my son complained. Surprised there was no cutlery. We purchased a small set at Red Apple. Overall we had an enjoyable stay.

Generations

We had a wonderful time at the cottage. We had 8 people ranging from 2 to 90. To have 4 generations together under one roof was great Love the British touch. Very clean and quiet place. Would seriously think of going back again. Thank you for the great time

Sturgeon Thanksgiving

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Across the Pond cottage. It's a perfect getaway, in an idyllic setting. The cottage is clean, updated and perfect for a small family such as ours. Richard and Kelly are superb hosts, and were always available to answer any questions or concerns. We would go back in a heartbeat! A memorable Thanksgiving indeed.

A mid September family gathering

Beautiful property and large deck with outdoor and indoor dining for six people. Its ideal because the owners allow pets so the whole family can be together. On cool mornings the central heating was a bonus. There is ample space to store dry food but fridge is not a full size. The kitchen is well appointed but bring your own mug if you enjoy a large cup of coffee. The hosts have added many little touches to make guests feel welcome so you will be comfortable. Catching fish right from the long dock is fun! You will need water shoes if you venture into the water as large rocks are are slippery and smaller ones on the floor bed of the lake are more dense and sharper. Its about a 30 min paddle (2 kayaks at the rental)to the end at Fenlon Falls and well worth it to see the interesting boat houses- especially the one with all the signs. A lovely stay and luckily we had fantastic weather to enjoy the amenities. Thank-you to our hots for making this property available to share.

About the host

Hosted by Richard and Kelly Scott

Host profile image
Richard and Kelly are two professionals who love the Kawarthas and want you to share the same experiences. Richard hails from the UK whilst Kelly is a Canadian national - The many years spent apart, prior to our marriage in 2013, gave us the inspiration for the cottage's name "Across the Pond". It has long been our dream to build something together, and finding this perfect location gave us the platform to achieve this.

Why they chose this property

We wanted a property that was in easy reach of the Greater Toronto Area and on the Trent - Severn waterway. After a long search in the Kawarthas, we headed over the bridge into Fenelon Falls to look at one last property and saw that the local jewelry store was named "Stokes on Trent". This was surely a sign of good things to come as it was the name of Richard's birthplace in the UK. The feeling increased as we headed towards the property and got our first glimpse of Lake Sturgeon. So peaceful and yet so enticing. Upon arriving at the property, the sun was shining over the glistening lake, the smell of a freshly cut grass hung in the air and a sense of calm came on us. In short, we felt that we just had to buy it. There was some work to do initially to bring the cottage up to the standard we wanted and we hope that you will find them to your satisfaction. We want you to experience the breathtaking beauty of the Kawarthas.

What makes this property unique

This uniquely British themed getaway has been tastefully renovated in 2022 and has all the amenities to make your stay a truly memorable one.
