About this property

Creekside Cottage At Shoal Bay

Creekside Cottage Information:  Located just outside of the Shoal Bay Recreation Area gate in New Blaine, AR sits this tiny cottage. If you like to fish and enjoy all of the amenities that Shoal Bay has to offer but do not have an RV, this is the place for you. (Please note that the Recreation Area is only fully open March through September. If you come in the off season you can still enter to fish and hike, but the restrooms and swimming area will be closed). The tiny cottage is perfect for couples but can sleep four if the futon is used. This is not a 5 Star Hotel. It’s a cozy, comfortable, and conveniently located cottage that won’t break your budget. Creekside Cottage is a total of 400 square feet but offers a sitting area and kitchenette with coffee pot, microwave, small crock pot and mini fridge. (A larger fridge is located under the picnic pavilion.) There is a TV with DVD player and a selection of movies. Sorry, but no other TV service or WiFi is available at this time. A separate bedroom features a queen size bed with a comfortable 12" memory foam mattress. The rustic decor bathroom includes a large shower. Linens and dishes are provided.  Temperature is controlled by a window unit and ceiling fan. A heater is also available for those of you that are cold natured.

Not only are you within walking distance of the Recreation Area. Which offers swimming, hiking, fishing, and a playground, the Creekside Cottage property has several great things to offer. A separate two car carport (approximately 200 feet from cottage) is available to park your vehicle or boat as well as a picnic pavilion sitting alongside the small wet weather creek that crosses the property (may not be flowing during severe dry spells). The charcoal grill, and fire pit add to your outdoor experience.

Local Information:  Shoal Bay Bait and Tackle is located next door to the property.
Along with bait, they also have cold drinks and rent kayaks. There is a large Dollar General, a convenience store and a restaurant located within approximately two miles of the cottage.  Menus are provided for your convenience.

Area Information: New Blaine is half way between Paris, AR (The Gateway to Arkansas' highest point, Mt. Magazine) and Dardanelle, AR  (Home of Beautiful Mt. Nebo).  See these two mountains and take a 45 minute drive to Petit Jean State Park to complete your Tri-Peaks Tour.  Spring Lake Recreation Area and the Huckleberry Mountain ATV and Horse Trail System, are both located in the nearby Ozark National Forest.  Stop in Subiaco on your way to Paris and tour the beautiful Catholic Monastery - Subiaco Abbey.  In Paris, you will find Eiffel Tower Park, a nice place to add your Love Lock to the fence and take pictures at the tower fountain.  Also located in Paris is the Cowie Wine Cellar and Museum, part of the Arkansas Wine Trail.  One hour away is historic Ft. Smith, Arkansas where you can ride the trolley and visit the Ft. Smith Museum of History as well as the Ft. Smith  National Historic Site (home of the Judge Parker gallows).

Wonderful owners

Had a water issue and the wonderful family fixed it immediately. Gave us a choice to stay with a full refund. Glad we chose to. Will do it again next year if we're able. Thank you so much for your courtesy .

Nice little place.

Great little place if you are going to Shoal Bay. Easy walking distance to campsites and boat launch. Nothing fancy, but clean and has what you need for a short stay.

Great cabin

We enjoyed staying at the Creekside Cottage. It was quaint, but had everything that we needed. It worked perfect for our family and was close to fishing and hiking locations.

Loved staying in this quaint cabin.

Renting this property was painless. It was all done on line and only took a few minutes. The cabin was exactly as described. We throughly enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic cottage

You could not have asked for a better place to stay and prepare for a major fishing tournament The cleanliness was exceptional and all the little touches made it feel like home. I will definitely stay again when the flw/bfl comes back to Dardanelle

Cute cottage

We had a great time at the cottage. It’s small but had everything we needed for a getaway. The Shoal Bay rec area has a nice hike within walking distance. One Tip: hot and cold taps are reversed in the shower :)

I loved it!

Cozy little cottage for a weekend get away. Very clean and the owner was wonderful. My favorite part was the outdoors. The cottage is on a large lot with a creek running thru it. Very peaceful laying on the hammock listening to the water run from the creek. I definitely hope to be able to make a return trip.

Creekside Cottage - Shoal Bay

Nice place for 1 or 2 people. Cozy cabin. Quiet and comfortable. All the amenities needed for a good night's rest. Love the large garage. Was able to prepare my motorcycle for a ride during a rain storm and have room for my truck. Lots of outside room for vehicles, trailers, boats, etc. Although I did not use it, the picnic pavillion was really nice. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to rest after hunting, fishing, boating, MC riding, etc. Loved it.

Cabin

A little more “country” than portrayed. Bathroom rug appears to have never been washed! 🤢 Would be a HUGE improvement to have front porch screened in! We had a minor problem, they came over immediately & took care of it! 👍 I would only recommend if the clients wanted a “back woods “ experience. We would not rent again… *Owners we’re very nice! I’m being truthful that they can make small upgrades to improve. Not being nasty!

Cozy quaint perfection

My partner, 2 year old daughter, and I stayed here for 2 nights. I love how quaint and rustic it is. It is a small space but we really liked that and it helped that they had an outside place that was like an extension of the home with a grill, picnic table, and fridge. Both the bed and fouton were very comfortable. My daughter absolutely loved the draw bridge! There is no stove but we purchased a single cook top and used it to make breakfast, there were also no spoons but we picked some up, and the water pressure definitely could have been betterbut I think they are fixing it. If the creek would have had water there would have been no reason for us to leave but there are lots of places not very far for checking out creeks or swimming. We checked out Cove Recreation and Mount Magazine (gorgeous). There is a hammock across the bridge and a rope swing (not very comfortable) but we loved the effort and ambiance. Even with the small complaints I would happily stay here again and look forward to our next trip here!

Cozy and Peaceful!

Basic but clean, cozy, and private while feeling quite safe! Enjoyed our morning coffees on the covered porch listening to the birds and creek running in the background. Bed was very comfortable and the little electric fireplace offered more than enough heat even on the chilly nights. In addition the host was quick to respond to any questions we had.

Excellent lake getaway

Property was perfect for the last minute getaway to meet friends at the lake for the weekend. No soap in the shower but not a problem for us as we travel with our own soaps/ body washes and it was 102 degrees so frequent showers. The cabin is so close to the bait shop, boat ramp, walking trails and swim beach we could not have been more pleased with the location.

Terrific getaway!

My husband and I wanted a quiet little getaway and this was perfect! We truly enjoy this little cottage, especially the firepit. We sat outside both nights at the fire, just relaxing and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Both night we saw multiple deer!! Shoal Bay is walking distance. It is beautiful and we caught lots of fish. 🥰

About the host

Host profile image
I am a full time nurse that enjoys photography. I live with my family near Shoal Bay Recreation Area and this cottage. We spend a lot of time at Shoal Bay, fishing, hiking, and kayaking.

Why they chose this property

When I saw this property listed for sale, I thought that it would be a nice place for people to stay. You can enjoy all of the amenities of the park even if you do not have an RV and don't like to stay in a tent. Also, while you are still able to fish in Shoal Bay year round, the park is not open for over night guests all year long. But you are welcome to book Creekside Cottage any time of year.
