A Beautiful Oceanside Apartment in Carnac
As the saying goes, location is everything! This studio apartment is only steps away from the clear waters of Carnac Grand Plage, the longest of the 5 beaches in the seaside town of Carnac, Brittany. The apartment is simple, but sufficient. The bathroom & shower are up to date. There is a couch that folds down into a full sized mattress in the front room, as well as a back bedroom w/ 2 twin beds. The floor to ceiling sliding glass doors in the front room provide a wonderful view of the beach just across the 2 lane Main Street. Traffic is relatively light, as many folks walk to the beach. Directly outside the glass doors is a small patio area, semi-enclosed & very private, perfect for enjoying drinks or dinner on the outdoor table & 4 chairs. If you'd rather eat inside, there is a butcher block table & 4 chairs, as well as place settings, silverware, glasses, tea/coffee cups for at least six. Pots,pans, a stove with oven & a refrigerator are all in good shape. Should you decide not to cook & want to eat out, you are in easy walking distance of the many restaurants in the village near the beach, just 4 blocks from the apartment. A supermarket is also within easy walking distance. The local speciality is mussels or "moules", & the local beverage is hard cider or "cider". Both are a treat! There are beautiful neighboring seaside towns & fishing villages that one can easily visit by car or bicycle (available to rent). Don't miss the awesome views of the "Côte Sauvage" the Savage Coast. Carnac itself has been recognized by National Geographic as a landmark site because of the hundreds of Paleolithic standing stones located there.
The owner of the apartment, Bernard, was an outstanding and hospitable host. He was easy to work with throughout the rental process, & personally came to the apartment on both the day of my arrival and the day of my departure to make sure all was well and in order. He offered many suggestions about local landmarks to visit, & very generously provided a welcoming gift of the local Loic Raisson Cidre upon arrival. Moreover, the rental rate for my nearly 2 week stay was very reasonable & well worth every Euro. I hope to return to Carnac & enjoy the peaceful pleasures of Bernard's ground floor ocean front apartment and the beautiful water and shore of Carnac Grand Plage.
