Ivy Cottage -Central Pennsylvania-Creekside

The Ivy Cottage offers seclusion and solitude. It is located only 10 minutes from Danville and Elysburg, but a world away from life’s distractions. It is nestled deep in the central Pennsylvania valley, surrounded by woods and a quiet, gentle mountain stream.

The location features old cottage charm but with modern conveniences and without the distractions of telephone and television...sometimes less is more.

The Ivy Cottage is an excellent hub for outdoor adventure. From hiking to amazing biking and river running, this place offers it all.

The cottage is strategically located 15 minutes from Knoebel’s Amusement Resort, with six covered bridges in the local area. There are also several State Parks, Jim Thorpe mountain biking, Rickett's Glen and others in Central Pennsylvania. You can find multiple golf courses in the area. Just 5 miles to the Elysburg gun shoot.
Geisinger Medical center is 10min away.
Bloomsburg Fairgrounds, 20 min away.

All High Season (June- Oct) Daily rates are $125.00 midweek and $150.00 weekends.

Hollidays have special rates throughout the year.

There is an Extra charge of $50.00 to use the Hot Tub..
No children allowed in hot tub under the age of 14.
A special refundable deposit will be taken for any group over 4 people when renting the hot tub.
If there are more than 4 people staying, there is an additional $10.00 charge per person.
Indoor hard wood can be delivered for $20 extra.

****This a beautiful, secluded cottage deep in the woods along a creek.
Due to it's remote location, during extreme storms, it's not unusual to lose electrical power. Trees also can knock the public power system out when ground gets overly saturated. Usually the PPL can get it up and running in a couple hours of time.
It IS NOT the owners responsibility to make compensation in any way if the public power goes out.
Also, there will be exposure to insects and animals in this wooded environment.
If there are days of rain that cause any slight flooding,( yard) it is not the owners liability to control nature, it's part of the creekside adventure.
Being that the location is very close to Roaring creek, it places the cottage on the water table. After much rain the ground gets overly saturated and can cause a musty smell inside the cottage when first opening doors, It dissipates after allowing fresh air in.
This is a cottage rental and IS NOT a 24 hour on -call hotel facility.
If these are things that are deal breakers for you, this may NOT be the best rental option.

Peaceful

Beautiful sights & sounds of the creek during fall! I could sit outside all day here, or on the screened-in porch listening to the roaring creek if the weather doesn't hold up. Love it here. Close to farm markets and other activities. I think there might be a camp site close to the cabin now, we had a bit of a scare when we heard loud noises past 1 a.m. and saw flashlights in the woods beside the cabin. Enjoyed the upgrades to the fire pit area since last time. Bring extra blankets and towels to stay extra cozy!

DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU ARE SLIGHTLY SENSITIVE TO MOLD OR MILDEW

As soon as we opened the door to the cabin we were hit in the face with a poisonous cloud of mold and mildew spores. My wife had an asthma attack and had to sit in the car to catch her breath. We drove 8 hours to this cabin and wanted to try to make the best of it. So I opened all windows, emptied both of the dehumidifiers. Turned on the ceiling fan in the living room, exhaust fan in the bathroom, and we left to try to left the house clear out so we could spend the night. We came back several hours later and it was better, but still not great. So we tried to sleep and left in the morning. The bed was terrible and the air was bad so we didnt sleep much. We left first thing in the morning and drove back another 8 hours. Went straight to the hospital. My wife had to have two breathing treatments, steroids, IV, and antibiotics. She had never had a reaction like this before. It was very scary for her. The property is kind of run down and looks like it isn't really taken care of. Mold and mildew covering the outside of the house. The inside was nicely decorated. But the old books and what not probably dont help the mold and mildew issue. If mold and mildew isnt a problem for you, you'll probably have a good time. Otherwise stay clear and save your life.

Great place to unplug!

My husband and I stayed at Ivy Cottage for the weekend. Our purpose was to get away and reconnect. This location was perfect for that! There were no TVs, no WiFi so very little distractions. The cottage has everything we needed to relax for the weekend. The hot tub was a great way to relax even more. The creek was loud and lovely. My husband spent some time fly fishing in it. The only negatives would be the strong musty odor that was difficult to eliminate even with open windows and lots of air movement. I would also recommend a small AC unit in the bedroom. The living room AC unit does not cool off the bedroom enough to sleep comfortably. We slept in the pull out sofa instead to be cooler as we slept. We had a lovely time and mostly enjoyed the beauty of the outdoors and the extreme privacy. A lovely, unplugged weekend!

Fantastic rustic getaway

Beautiful property on a creek. Lovely getaway location, with great hiking and a cute town nearby. Cabin is rustic - wonderful wood-burning fireplace and a nice hottub where you can hear the creek.

Our weekend stay

The property and our stay was peaceful and relaxing for the most part. The property was not well kept. The listing showed a hammock which was not there and it listed a grill. The grill was dirty and I had to clean it so we could grill. Just to find out that there was no propane in the tank so we had to cook everything indoors. There needs to be more lighting in the bathroom. The property had a musty smell. Had to open the windows to air it out. The hottub was nice and worked well. Seemed to have to much chlorine in it though. I personally would not stay here again for the price I paid. Communication between me and the owner was good until after my stay. I tried to reach out to her before I posted this review and it has been almost a day and no response from her. Any kind of response would have been appreciated.

Family weekend away

When you book this place you must realize it is a cabin in the woods no lie your gonna be kicking it 1980’s style. Going into this we knew it was rustic and lacking in internet or any cell service and we were fine with that. But if your gonna figure out what your gonna do do it prior to your arrival and have maps ready because it will take a bit for the gps to kick in. The only four bad things we really had was the mattress cover on the sofa bed had off putting stains on it, the shower is dark so take your showers is the daylight only way your gonna be able to do a good tick check, the loft area needs to be cleaned and an actual mattress up there would be good too, finally mouse dropping on the sink area so a little pest control wouldn’t hurt. Other then those 4 things this place was awesome hot tub great fire pit awesome creek was amazing.

Perfect getaway

Ivy Cottage is a perfect, quiet getaway. The property and experience was exactly as listed. Communication was great. Will definitely be booking this again - Can’t imagine booking a more relaxing place if you enjoy quiet nights and mountain air. Check out the old stone tavern in Bear Gap when your in the area; it is a historic gem.

Cozy little paradise

The pictures don't even do this place justice. They seem to be pretty old, and they don't even show the breathtaking roaring creek that's within 50 ft of the back door! The hot tub was super clean, and we had snow sprinkles all weekend. You get a view of the river from the hot tub, and at night the stars are absolutely incredible. Lots of seating, clean bathroom and kitchen, and mary left wonderful smelling candles all around which makes the place smell great. There's a cute little loft area, and a comfy double bed that fits two reasonably sized people well. If you're not super high maintenance, and don't mind going a weekend without internet, and desire to truly be away from everything in the great outdoors, this is the perfect place. We will be visiting again!

Snow + Creek + hot tub = perfect getaway

This is the quintessential quaint and cozy Pennsylvania cabin. Utterly quiet except for the roaring creek, which is the perfect sound to hear. I highly recommend booking it for when they're supposed to be a snowstorm. Being in a hot tub, hearing the creek, and having snowflakes fall on your head is the perfect experience. It was exactly the quiet remote getaway we were looking for. Thanks Mary!

Beautiful getaway tucked away in the mountains!!!

A group of us girls were tucked away in the mountains at this awesome rustic cabin. Deep in the mountains.......wood stove........outside hot tub!!!! The outside surroundings were just beautiful!!! Nature everywhere. The inside of the cabin had everything we needed from a mini crockpot to dishes casserole dishes pots and pans!! The weekend was awesome and we can't wait to go back in the spring summer and fall!!! The beautiful pieces of artwork all around the cabin.....the beautiful icicles along the whole mountain......the river.......I could go on and on!!!! We didn't get bothered the whole time we were there. It was just what is ladies needed!!!
