Private oasis & Minutes from hiking
Loved the location & open space. Be ready to drive the pass to get into Tucson - extra time but so worth it. Great hikes only a short drive away. Wonderful star gazing at night on the deck & a daily hot tub relaxed the body/mind.

Great family getaway
After a long winter, the warmth and beautiful sunny panorama was such a treat for our family vacation. A wide range of hiking options within a short drive, including the Desert Museum gave us plenty to do. Lots of space for 8 of us. Marshall was a great host.

Beautiful desert retreat
Thank you for sharing your home with us. We had an incredible stay with our extended family of 10 including 1 toddler. Marshall was kind enough to have the crib set up for us prior to our arrival. The beds were comfortable and there was an abundance of all the necessities (towels, wash clothes, etc). The kitchen was well equipped and we had plenty of glass and table ware for our entire family. We enjoyed the grill on the covered patio several times, and was a great place to have coffee for sunrise in the morning and adult beverages at sunset. The living room sectionals were huge and allowed all of us to lounge comfortably. The grounds were a wonderful desert oasis. The location could not be more perfect. We were within 5-10 min drive to the Arizona-Sonora Desert museum, Saguaro National Park (West), Gates Pass, and so much more. We could have easily spent the entire time within 5 miles of the home. We did multiple trails near the home with my two favorites being King Canyon trail (Wassan Peak) and Valley View Overlook trail. We did venture out to do the Mt. Lemmen scenic byway through Coronado national forest, which was beautiful, and we were quite surprised about the amount of snow still at the top of the mountain. Tumamoc hill was a steep but wide, nicely paved path with a great view of Tuscon. We still have several trails that we hope to check out the next time we come to visit. Shout out to the Barrio brewery for their great food (had the Sonora dog) and beers (loved the Nolan Porter). Thank you again Marshall and Glenda for a wonderful stay. Look forward to staying at your home again in the future.

Wonderful Desert Location
Great experience. Beautiful house and facilities. Clean and well kept. Owner was delightful to deal with, very accommodating. The last half mile approach to the property is a fairly well-maintained gravel road. Somewhat remote from shopping, but very private. Overall a great place for a large group getaway in a gorgeous desert setting.

Great desert experience and still close enough to town to enjoy that too!
The house is very well equipped for large groups, We really enjoyed our stay. It's out in the desert so you can enjoy the quite and beauty, yet it is only 30 minutes from Tucson which allowed us to spend time in town. We highly recommend this place!

Wonderful home and property that made our Tucson vacation even more memorable.....
We have a large family, located all across the U.S., who tries to spend a collective week in Arizona this time every year. Casa Del Sol is one of the nicest VRBO's we have stayed in, while offering a very competitive rental price-point. The house was very clean and well stocked with all the amenities. It is conveniently located on a nicely landscaped property that is well off the beaten path, while affording easy access to the entire Tucson area. The neighborhood is extremely quiet and provides easy strolls throughout the surrounding area. Many thanks to Marshall for your congeniality while sharing your amazing home and expect us back again!

Heaven on earth
Came here with children/grandchildren ranging from ages 8 to 45. We had a wonderful time. I'm 59 and my husband is 77 - it took us a bit longer than the younger generation to adjust to the quirks of this fascinating house, which is not a negative at all, just be aware that the house is so fascinating and interesting it may take you a few days to get oriented. A chain hotel this is not. This is an enchanting house for people who love peace and quiet and nature and art. This is our last day and nobody wants to leave. Owner very friendly and helpful.

A terrific place to stay in the sun!
Every year my Chicago bike racing team does a week-long training camp somewhere warm. This year we decided to go to Tucson and chose Alma del Sol as our home base. What a delight. The grounds of the house are gorgeous - the saquaros are beautiful and hummingbirds are fun to watch and we were able to start almost all of our rides right from the house! Comfy beds are a must for people doing a full week of hard training and Alma del Sol delivered. Plenty of beds and space for everybody. Plenty of extra bedding for chilly nights too! The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to make big healthy meals for hungry riders and we loved eating outside every night. Our whole group also appreciated that the solar powered home was environmentally friendly - and with a large group the fact that we had more than ample supply of hot water for showers. The evaporative cooling system kept us comfy after long, hot days in the saddle! We made sure to take advantage of the great view of the stars from the hot tub in the evenings as a way to relax sore muscles. The sunrises and sunsets were gorgeous right from the house but for visitors interested in something truly spectacular - sunset viewing at Gates Pass is just a short drive away and worth the trip!

Spacious Southwestern home....such a treat
This is a beautiful place ...wonderful to wake up to sunrise through the saquaros! Convenient to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, the Tucson Mountains and Tucson itself. Fully equipped for cooking in, easy to chill in the great room after a day of hiking, big enough that even a large group of introverts could all find their own spaces to commune with the desert. Loved it! Hope we do get to come back again soon :) Recommend La Indita on 4th Avenue for special south of the border cuisine with style and heart. Magpie's Pizza also on 4th was also great, as was Tucson Taco. Cafe Desta represents a fine accessible Ethiopian.

Beautiful home in a beautiful setting
Five of us stayed at Alma Del Sol on a girls get-away. We enjoyed the peaceful setting and the humming birds that live in the yard. We had plenty of room, and also liked the proximity to Saguaro National Park.

Fantastic!
We stayed at Alma del Sol in March 2016 with a group of 12 veterans. We needed a comfortable, private and affordable location for a week-long retreat and Alma del Sol was perfect. We used it as our base camp from which to make day trips to explore the area. Marshall and Glenda were wonderful hosts and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. We highly recommend it!

Triathlon group
Marshall and Glenda were extremely accommodating. We have stayed at Alma Del Sol for a few years with a triathlon team of 20+. The surrounding area is excellent for biking and running. The house, hot tub, and incredible surroundings made for great camps. Thanks to Marshall and Glenda for their amazing hospitality!

I'm an artist and teach middle school art. I also owned a solar energy company which led to the construction of Alma Del Sol, the name being a play off English and Spanish, mean Soul of the Sun (Sol).

Why they chose this property

I built this home myself as a reflection of my commitment to environmental concerns and issues we face and must find solutions for. This rental allows me to share both the artistic aspects and environmental design that should be the aesthetic in everyone's life, if it's not, you don't know what you are missing.

What makes this property unique

Views, views and views of Mountains and the most surreal cactus environment you will ever experience, as the home is located adjacent to the Saguaro National Park. Due to it's proximity to the National Park, most of the major attractions are only minutes away.

In addition, this home is made of real mud adobe and will give you an incredible architectural experience. Despite it's 10 acres of privacy, it's only a leisure 30 minute drive from downtown Tucson.

It has modern entertainment systems, so after a fun day of running around you can relax to a movie, listen to music, soak in a hot tub and enjoy the benefits of free broadband WiFi to keep you in touch with family back home.
