The location can’t be beat. It is on the ground level on a front facing building, so nothing between you and the dunes. Also because it’s a corner unit, the patio offers complete privacy. Comfortable bed/linens. Well equipped kitchen. The carpet is a little beat. Nice to have a washer and dryer with detergent available. No restaurant on site but plenty of things nearby.
Location and unit are great
Love privacy of unit sitting on deck
Carpets and flooring in unit are stained and subpar
Heavy metal shades are hard to open to see your view
Interior needs an all around upgrade
It was great five grandkids three condos close to the beach they had a blast nice place we will be back for sure Thank You Todd

Great location
Great location, but can’t see the beach or water from the property unless you are standing on your tip toes.
The kitchen could be better equipped with seasonings. They did have salt pepper and oil, but common household spices would have been nice. There was also only 2 in 1 shampoo conditioner which isn’t the best.
Rented this little spot ( #71) for the week for a last minute family trip. The condo is cozy and lacking in frills but the location more than makes up for it. You are steps from the sand and even with the doors closed you can hear the sound of the waves. The way the condo/back deck is positioned gives you the “illusion of seclusion”. Sitting out on the deck you feel like you are on your own private beach. There are places for bonfires on the beach at night so make sure to pick up some wood ( you can buy logs at the store on site). The kitchen was full stocked with everything but food. The bed and pull out bed in the living room were comfortable. Plenty of extra linens and towels. Great little spot. We will definitely be back!

Location is great, everything else, not so much. Smells like bad curry mixed with a moldy smell. Fl.
Very much like staying in a cheap motel from the 80’s , but on the beach. No pride of ownership at all. You should be embarrassed to charge 500$ plus a night. Very sad to see such a perfect location in this condition.
This 1br unit was just big enough for my husband and I and two kids. The view is wonderful, and the location is perfect. We love staying at the Dunes for the quiet location and the fact that nothing else is around but the beach. We brought our kayaks and explored Monterey and Elkhorn Slough. The resort is landscaped beautifully and even just walking around the grounds is a great getaway from the hustle and bustle everywhere else. This unit is somewhat dated and could use some furniture refreshing, but it has everything you would need in terms of cooking supplies, etc. We spent most of our time taking in the views from the deck or on the sand. Lovely place!
You can view a sunset from the loving room and can literally walk off the patio on to the beach pathway. The unit is slightly old and might need some sprucing up, but the location more than makes up for it. The patio does not have the chairs though, but they have some beach chairs in the closet that can be used. Will be back!

View ... only if you stand up
Seated you can't see the ocean. Unit suffers from deferred maintenance and is poorly stocked. Not even a coffee filter. The BBQ is unusable. Basic bordering on spartan.
Property uncared for. Mold or mildew smell. A slum. Dirty frayed xarpet..torn vinyl with what looked like mold spots. Woke up at 2:00 AM with a throbbing headache that lasted 2 full days. Did mot complete my stay. Left property immediately at daylight.
I have been to Pajaro Dunes many times about 35 years ago when the kids were small. Now just just the two of us, I wish I would have stayed here so much more. Well time to catch up!
I chose this unit because of price and expected it to be nice but so-so. Sure the furnishings were dated but the place was clean neat and well stocked with everything that you would need except the food. What we didn't expect was how immediately comfortable and "at home" we felt here. This was OUR place on the beach even though for a few days. AND the beach was OURS ! No crowds, no noise except the ocean waves, very peaceful . We will return!
While the rental experience was flawless, this unit is in dire need of a complete makeover. The furniture is outdated and dirty. The decor is lacking. And the entire condo could use a major remodel. At the very least adding some new decor and paint would make the rental worth the price. Not to mention the rundown bathroom which, again at the very least needs a new shower head.
Also the back patio had no chairs or a table and we had skunk visitors every night. I would add some kind of short fence or barrier along the deck as we were afraid to sit outside or leave the doors open in the evening.
All and all we will return to this property, but we will surly rent a more up to date unit.
We will definitely be back to this unit. You can actually watch the lovely sunset from the living room! Steps away from the beach and ideal for a couple with kid(s). The only item I would suggest is a smart TV where guests can use their own netflix/hulu/prime accounts. Really helpful with a toddler or other youngins :)
The Pros:
Pajaro Dunes Resort is dreamy. The location between Santa Cruz & Monterey is ideal and being on the beach is perfect. Even a bad unit is still a great unit. The bottom floor unit offered easy access to the beach and we really enjoyed its front location (building is shaped as a V with the bottom of the V being closest to the beach)
The Cons:
The unit needs some love. Our initial impression was not positive with the carpet stains, lack of decorating, and worn out furnishings but the unit is clean and everything was in working order so it grew on us.
The unit is stocked with the bare minimum. We had to borrow a blender from the neighbor to make salsa and we had to buy wine glasses which we left there for the next guests.
Would love to be given a small budget to redecorate/update the unit in a regal hgtv style makeover in exchange for a future visit. 😊
Since we have stayed in another shorebird unit before, we know how luxurious it can feel. I personally would spend a little more for a more deluxe unit. If you’re just wanting a good deal at a great spot, then you won’t be disappointed.
It is a beautiful location but the unit needs updating and is not very well stocked with basic things like blankets, towels, etc. the tub also backed up and had to snaked which was pretty annoying.
It was so nice to be able to step right outside the backdoor and be down at the beach within seconds. This location is perfect, especially for travelers with young kids and a lot of beach gear to carry. Thank you for sharing this cozy condo with us.
