Sleepy Hollows Chalet Lower (at Sun Peaks Resort)

***WARNING - Canadians using vrbo site to view/book please ensure the the prices are shown in CAD and not USD!***

Sleepy Hollows Chalet Lower is the private lower level, self contained two bedroom suite in the newest Rental Chalet on Sunburst drive. A 10 minute walk to the village with an easy Ski in and a short walk to ski out. We have stayed in many chalets over the years and we have planned ours to have all the amenities that we have wanted in others. This suite is “lower” in name only. It has floor to ceiling windows under the covered deck above. There are gorgeous Mount Morrisey views. Nothing about this suite makes you feel like you are on the lower level as you look down onto the twinkling lights of chalets below you. It’s approx 1050 sq ft so there is room for all to spread out and not feel like your cramped in a tiny condo.

This is not a party house, if this is your desire then please don't waste your time looking here.

This is the lower floor of a private chalet on Sunburst Drive. Huge windows give gorgeous views of Mnt Morrisey, it’s a bright, wonderfully private place to stay that never feels like a lower level. There is ample parking on the level, easy access driveway. The suite is accessed from the front of the chalet and NOT by having to walk all the way around on some sketchy snowy steps. You can empty your trunk steps away from the entrance to the suite. This was an important feature to us as we have found this to be missing in so many other rentals. It’s exhausting to move your stuff into a chalet otherwise. There is secure ski storage in the hallway to the unit. A fully stocked kitchen with a table that expands larger if need be. There’s a very comfortable couch and two chairs, a gas fireplace and a flat screen TV with both Telus Optik Fibre TV PVR and a resident Netflix account. There’s a principal bedroom with a queen bed with more mountain views. The second bedroom has both a twin bunk bed and a twin over a double bunk bed. A great place for the kids to flop after a full day of mountain fun. The entrance way has huge benches to suit up for fun and a place to hang stuff up to dry at the end of the day. There’s ensuite laundry also! Heated floors throughout makes this a very warm and welcoming suite. Just outside the french doors from the kitchen is a huge, very private and professionally maintained Hot Tub for only you and your family/friends to share! This unit is professionally cleaned and a cleaning charge will be applied.

Here is a quick run down of the many offerings of Sleepy Hollows Chalet Down:
1050 sq ft suite with gorgeous mountain views
2 bedroom (5 beds)
1 full bathroom with tub.
Level driveway with ample parking. Access to the unit is only steps away from your trunk, you don’t have to trek all of your stuff around the side of a house down snow covered steps.
Ski in, short walk to ski out (7 min) or a 3 minute drive to the base parking lot.
Large entry hall with boot up bench and drying racks
Ensuite laundry
Secure ski/snowboard storage in locked hallway.
Professionally maintained, very private, large hot tub
Fully stocked kitchen - Glassware, blender, crockpot, pots/pans, tea pot and coffee maker with grinder (if you're into fancier coffee)
Flat screen Smart TV, gas fireplace
High speed Fibre optic Internet
Fun closet of puzzles, games etc

Covered rear private deck
A great hill for the kids to play on right at the house

Ski trip
Excellent location for SunPeaks ski trip. Close drive to resort or short walk and ski down to lifts. Ski right back to location across the street. Chalet was equipped with everything and more for our stay and hot tub is always a bonus after a long day on mountain. Look forward to returning some day.

Clean accom in a great central location
We were there on business for two nights and the suite worked out perfectly with the two bunk beds in the one bedroom and then the master bedroom. Within walking distance of the lifts and village centre with a great view of Mt Morrisey runs out the kitchen and living room windows as well as from the hot tub. The place was very clean and comes with all the kitchen necessities just bring the food and you're all set.

Great for families.
Brad is a terrific host! He accommodated some of our special needs for arrival and departure, and promptly responded to our hot tub issues. Our family rented both the upper and lower units, and had a great time. We could have wished for better ski out, but we ferried the older members up the hill, and drove the littles to the drop off. We made it work! The downstairs had plenty of room for 5, and we especially appreciated the generous space for all our ski clothing and gear.

Excellent Location. Walking distance to village and ski in/out
Overall the place and location is great. It is ski in/out just takes longer in ski boots and as listed. The shuttle is at the end of the road and super easy and convenient. We walked to and from the village with no problem, and folks we met said how close we were. We asked a lot of questions throughout our stay and had them all addressed. As Indicated in other reviews, being on the bottom you can hear everything above and knowing it braces you so you aren’t startled. Would stay again and would 100% recommend for a smaller group as well!

Great time in Sun Peaks
We had a great stay at Brad's cozy 2-bdrm basement suite. It came with everything you could want and we booked it mainly because of the hot tub. A second bathroom was the only thing my wife and I longed for with two kids in tow. Brad was excellent to communicate with and helped arrange for a return of forgotten kids items. Easy check in and out. Ski-in to across the street, ski-out is about a 10 min uphill walk. Village easily walkable. Price is a bit higher compared to Whistler and other ski hills in the interior but you get a mountain, three actually, basically to yourself. We stayed Sun-Fri and never had a line. Would recommend to stay at Brad's.

Cozy place overall. Pot and beddings well stocked. Good set up for snowgears which we can leave at the entryway. This is a basement unit which you'll have to walk down a stretch of stair to the basement unit; And ,as in any basement unit you'll hear the footsteps of the tenants who're living upstair. We are snowboarder, so to get onto Sunpeak's lift you will have to drive to the base of the Sunpeak resort ( a few mins of short drive). One can't snowboard to the base from this basement to the lift. Nice trip overall.

Amazing place
I rented both units of the Sleep Hollows Chalet for 19 people and it was absolutely exceptional! We stayed over Christmas and it was the most beautiful place to do so. Our group consisted of 4 families with kids ranging in age from 10-19 years and every single person had a comfortable bed to sleep in. This unit was immaculate and so well maintained. I always worry when booking a place to stay because I am a major clean freak and usually feel uncomfortable staying in a rental. I can honestly say this is the first time I felt completely comfortable because the place was so well kept and exceptionally clean. It is obvious that Brad pays attention to detail and expects nothing short of perfection for his renters! The hot tub was also exceptional and maintained daily by his staff. I highly recommend this rental and will definitely be back!! Thank you Brad for the amazing experience had by our entire group!

An excellent choice for a magnificent shredding holiday
Spending the Winter Holidays at Sleepy Hollows was by far the most pleasant winter break experience we had in the past few winters! We come to Sun Peaks for four seasons already, but we previously used some of the hotels in the village for accommodation. And while there was nothing bad with the hotels, renting a cozy house just makes the whole experience even better. For our family of 2 adults & 2 kids (14 & 8 y.o.), the highlights of staying in the downstairs apartment from Sleepy Hollows include: • Space perfect for 4 people; we all enjoyed having 2 separate bedrooms and the kids not having to share a couch and having a bit more intimacy • Although not in a very big space, the very well-equipped kitchen and diversity of available kitchen tools. We were able to cook everything we fancied, which again makes a difference when you spend a lot of energy out in the cold • Having a Christmas tree in the living room made my younger daughter so much happier due to the atmosphere it creates • The apartment has its own hot-tub - truly great in these Covid times and while experiencing temperatures around – 30 C • The ski-boots dryer was a nice-to-have item to have at hand • The layout of the apartment is very well thought, and while it’s not too big, all the spaces are wisely used; there are many options to hang and store things, which makes it so much easier to dry things out when you come from the slope and find them faster when you go out • In terms of heating, it was just perfect, although we caught some really cold days (floor heating almost everywhere & the fireplace can top it up) • The beds have very nice linens, warm & soft – people sensitive to touching textures notice it immediately • In terms of location - very convenient. To get to the slopes, it’s just 3 min walking up the street, it’s ski-in 100% coming from Cruiser/Blazer area, and mid-distance between the village supermarket and the newer Ohana deli-market near the Fire-station (enjoyable walkable distance) • Last but not least, Brad is a great host. Because we spent a long time there, he took care that the local support team comes to help with the garbage & recycling stuff (we didn’t have a car to get to the local transfer station ourselves), replenishing the stock for toiletries and towels, daily check for the hot-tub etc. Although he was coordinating the things from away, he was promptly available whenever we had a question or needed something. Wonderful experience, thank you!

Unexpected Sleepy Hollows Chalet Down Experience
Unfortunately this was not our best VRBO experience. The owner, Brad, seems kind, is responsive and there are good things about his place. House location is good, WiFi works, the hot tub is professionally maintained and we had the basics we needed. The pictures posted in VRBO are pretty accurate, however, when you are paying $570 CAD / $430 USD a night, you have certain lodging expectations even during peak season. Our first night at Sleepy Hollows Chalet Down was terrible. When we arrived there was only 1 bath towel, 1 kitchen towel, no extra paper towels and 2 rolls of toilet paper. After texting Brad he resolved that quickly. Arriving on New Year's Eve we expected to hear some celebrating, but not the level of partying that went on above us. After 4-5 hours of exceptionally loud music and people pounding above us, we finally texted Brad and had to have a conversation with the renter's above us. At one point those renters even urinated over their deck into the snow by our patio. While we know this is not directly Brad's fault, he describes his rental as a non-party house and that had set our expectations and it's what we paid for. We were extremely disappointed that we had brought our kids to what felt like a college party house. So much so that we considered driving home the next day and tried to find other places to stay in Sun Peaks. The remainder of our trip was quieter and we were able to get some sleep, but you do feel like you are residing in a basement. You can hear the guests above especially while in the master bedroom. It has the basics, but it's lacking warmth. There isn't a lot of cozy seating even for a family of 4. The chairs that are available, have tears covered up with tape and aren't the most comfortable. We never could get the fireplace to work and didn't want to mess around with the pilot light. Even if we had taken the time to figure it out, based on the furniture layout it would have been hard to enjoy it. When cooking everything is very old (only 3 cooking knives in the block), the bath towels we received reminded us of old gym towels and we were glad that we had packed our own bed pillows and beach towels for the hot tub. These are all small things, but they add up and it's not what you expect when you are paying hundreds per night. I do believe these are all things that can be easily corrected for future guests. Sadly our stay in Sleepy Hollows Chalet Down wasn't a positive one for our family.

Spacious, bright suite in great location, with all the amenities!
We really enjoyed our stay in Sleepy Hollows! It does not feel like a basement suite with all the lovely views from the big windows, and it felt very private - not overlooked at all! Plenty of secure storage space for skis, boots etc. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you need. We cooked several meals there even Christmas turkey. Lovely private hot tub to relax in after skiing. Easy to ski back to and a short walk to start the day. Brad was excellent to deal with and responded very quickly to any questions. He clearly wanted us to enjoy our stay there. Would highly recommend this property.
