This spacious unit is well thought out and very well maintained. It's a little bit out of Marquette but just as advertised in a pretty area. Hosts are very nice and very responsive. Excellent WiFi. Kitchen is large and unusually well equipped (except no dishwasher). Nice place to relax and enjoy the Upper Peninsula.

Liked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities, communication
The home was clean, organized, and easy to locate with Larry’s directions! We used it as a place to crash each night after driving to Houghton and back. Wish we could’ve spent more time at the property, though! Lots to do there. The dart board in particular is one thing we wish we’d had some time to use! Their decorations are also really cool!
We had a great stay at the rental! There were a total of four adults. The hosts were communicative and just great people, the rental was clean and cozy, and it just added to an awesome weekend in the Michigan UP!
Other reviews have already said it better. Beautiful, convenient location, fresh blackberries to eat, friendly folks, and nice house curated with interesting artifacts and decorations. Home away from home.
We come up to the U.P. to getaway and Larry and Marie’s home was perfect for that. Close enough to Marquette for restaurants and things to do, but it was nice to have a place away from everything to escape. The bed was amazingly comfortable and truly felt like a home away from home.
Overall, my family and I enjoyed our stay in Negaunee. Our hosts, Larry and Marie, were extremely hospitable and provided helpful information for the surrounding area. We discovered 2 great places to eat from their recommendations. The location is outside of town, however, this was not a negative. The interconnecting roads provided easy access. The cudighi at The Congress Bar was worth the trip. The downstairs suite was clean and comfortable. Larry and Marie are very respectful of your privacy. Since you are downstairs, you can still hear walking, etc.. as can be expected. Curtains above the beds would help with added privacy to the bedrooms.
I would not hesitate to book another stay here.
We stayed here as our base camp to explore the Marquette area. The hosts were so kind. The basement is very well laid out with ample room to spread out.
What a lovely place and such nice people. Everything was exactly what we needed for our jumping off place to day trip all over the UP. We knew that every night we would be coming home to a big comfy bed and every morning we had the full use of a lovely fully stocked with equipment, kitchen. And thank D.O.G. they were ever so helpful while we were there.
Cozy and inviting property right between the RAMBA and Marquette trail systems (15min from either location).
Larry and Marie were friendly and very accommodating to meet the needs of our stay, offering us a garage stall to secure our bikes and a hose spigot to wash them post ride.
DOG was super friendly and our kids loved interacting with him.
We would definitely stay again should we revisit the area.
Loved it. Really wish we could have stayed there longer and been less busy while there so we could have enjoyed the place more. Really liked the bar and living area. Will be back!
We enjoyed our stay at this property. It's our 25th Anniversary and we want to celebrate and to stay in a nice, relaxing and quiet place. This house is situated in a secluded area which is the way we want it, and at the same time, only 12 mile from Marquette. We enjoyed all that the upper peninsula has to offer and at the end of the day, is to go back to a very comfortable and beautiful place to rest and relax. The check-in and check-out process was very easy and the our communication with Larry via text and face to face were delightful and prompt. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it to our friends and family.
Came up to the Upper Peninsula to drop off my grandson at NMU for his freshman year. This was the perfect place! Close enough to Marquette and yet out in the country. This property it beautiful and the host were great! I highly recommend this place and will be coming back again!
We had a wonderful time at Larry & Marie‘s apartment. They are excellent hosts. The house is beautifully located in the forest. The apartment is really huge and equipped with much more than you could possibly need. It was perfectly clean.
We enjoyed the exchange with Larry and Marie and we’re happy to learn a bit about the region.
We were invited to use herbs from the garden which was really nice and delicious.
We will come back and totally recommend to stay at Larry and Marie‘s (and DeOGi’s) place. Thanks a lot for having us!
Used this as home base as I explored the numerous UP sites in Marquette, Munising, Negaunee, Ishpeming, Baraga, L’Anse, and Keeweenaw Peninsula! Beautiful place!
Larry and Marie are great hosts and make you feel very welcomed. Our stay was nice and the mountain bike trails in the area are amazing. Its easy to get to Marquette and we had fun at the breweries. Great beer at Ore Dock and Black Rocks.
We had such a relaxing time here. Wonderful way to vacation. For our first VRBO, others will have a tough time on all the small things that made our stay comfortable. Thanks for all the advice on the sites to see in the area. Memories made beautiful place.
Great place and great location. Hosts were very nice. Definitely will be back!

About the host
Hosted by Larry and Marie Rasmussen
We built our home in 2003/2004 - It has all the amenities on both floors, therefore we are renting out our lower level as we do not use it often. The lower level has two bedrooms having a king and queen size bed, an open floor plan with bar / living space and a full bathroom. A kitchen is off the bar area. This is a walk-out "basement" along with a man door to the garage for other access. The lower level is 1680 sq. feet. We also have a queen-size air mattress to accommodate two more guests if needed.
Why they chose this property
We love our home, we have all the privacy we need yet are only 12 miles from Marquette, MI. We are surrounded by trees and have nature trails from the back yard. We have all the living amenities of being at "camp" but it is our home. We have a lot of visitors and they all say that they love our place and we should rent it out so others can enjoy it.
What makes this property unique
Peace and quite, watch birds, go for hikes from back yard, close to Negaunee or Marquette, bonfire in back yard, star gazing, games can be played in yard, no traffic.
