Stale aroma ever-present. Water pressure minimal. Very loud highway traffic noise. Current 4-level apartment construction directly behind fence...Traffic delays daily.
Owner canceled on me last minute after check in time
I normally don’t write reviews but VRBO should really have something in place to protect renters from being canceled last minute such as offering alternatives. This is the second time this has happened and we were left scrambling.
The place itself was decent. Inside was quaint & clean, no frills, outside wasn’t great though. It was good enough for what we needed though & although the location wasn’t great, it wasn’t horrible. The communication with the property manager, on the other hand, was outstanding. She was always quick with her responses. Overall, the place was nice & great for pets.
Very cute, very clean property! I would recommend a maximum of 4 people. We only slept there, did not spend time cooking or watching TV. It was very convenient to where we needed to be!

Location of property in small, older neighborhood. Everyone in area very friendly and helpful. Home is small and best suited for just a couple of folks probably. Is an older home, but easy layout and small backyard enjoyable to watch birds, squirrels, etc. There were some plumbing inconveniences while there, that were never fully fixed and touch ups have been done at the house, but assuming more will be done in the future. Sometimes it seemed that because it was an older home the renter should just expect some issues?? This is a very "basic" rental with no frills. Owner was always pleasant though and during the "houston freeze" in February was very responsive and repairs done very quickly
This was a fantastic location and property for my family. Not only is it centrally located near the 45 and the 610 but it was in the cutest neighborhood. It was so quiet and relaxing. Grocery stores and even coffee was nearby as well. The Internet was super fast and never had any issues. The house was decorated like a quaint little cottage. It was a fantastic stay! We will be recommending to our family to book this one!!
Cute 2 bedroom house for my 7wk MD Anderson treatment stay
Overall it was a great house to stay at. Courtney and her husband were very accommodating and nice. They were flexible with my changing schedule since I was coming up for cancer treatments at MD Anderson.
There were a lot of above and beyond supplies not expected like coffee pods for the Keurig machine, seasonings, dish soap, and various condiments in the refrigerator...
We also left a few things that we found useful, for the next renters; like some bowls, laundry basket, broom with dustpan, and night lights.
Finding a house with a fenced yard at an affordable price for our fur babies was great. It worked out perfectly.
The only suggestion I have involves having a 2nd tv in one of the bedrooms with a DVD player and/or an HD antenna hookup that gives 40 free channels (only $16 at Walmart). We needed to buy above for our stay because our kids were with us. Hard to share a tv long-term with the kids!
House had everything we needed. Clean inside. Quiet neighborhood. Hot water didn't last very long but overall no complaints. Extremely difficult to get a truck and trailer in the driveway but doable if you set your mind to it lol.

A bargain stay
Nice clean home located in a quiet neighborhood. Very reasonably priced and perfect for our dog. The farmers market nearby is an added bonus. We would stay here again if returning to Houston.

Overall nice property and hosts, but a little over priced
The hosts were wonderful in fixing any issues that arose. The property was cute and had a cottage like feel. The home had a lot of quirks that I was unaware of going in. For instance, if you want to blow dry your hair in the bathroom, bring an extension cord. Otherwise, it was great having a place that was fenced in and allowed dogs. I am still waiting for confirmation in regards to my cleaning deposit refund since I cleaned everything before I left. The neighborhood was friendly and there are a lot of good restaurants nearby.

Quaint and comfortable!
Too good for a bag lady but we probably wouldn't take the Queen of England there either. Seriously though, we really enjoyed our stay with the comfortable bed, private backyard and porch, enjoyed the Keurig coffee machine, etc. Nice clean place... we would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Delightful place to stay with excellent amenities and helpful owners!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this tidy home. Great location, very comfortable and wonderfully dog-friendly. This was our first time in Houston and we were lucky to find a place that suited all of our needs. We’ve had a mixed bag when it comes to staying at places through Airbnb/VRBO with the biggest issue being lack of responsiveness from the owners. This is of high value to us and we found Courtney and Bryant to be really engaging and thoughtful from check-in to check-out. The bikes were awesome. Highly recommended!

About the host
Hosted by Courtney Rohloff
We are two people who met in a small college town in Oregon and fell in love through travel. I am from California and my husband is from Alaska. We traveled to see each other as well as to explore the world and after years of doing this decided to get married. We now live here in the Heights and absolutely love all the hidden charm this small town has to offer.
Why they chose this property
Tabor house is a charming bungalow that fits with the character of the neighborhood. It has an inviting common area that is great for conversations. We tried to fit enough of the modern amenities to make the stay as comfortable as possible, but added a vintage feel to make it a more charming.
What makes this property unique
Sleep in a bed dating back to the 1800's as well as other furnishings that are over 100 years in age.
