We thought settings like this was only found in Hallmark Movies. You proved us wrong. Beautiful family vacation home. So relaxing and the views were breathtaking. We loved visiting the horses, donkey and sheep. We will definitely be back!

Great Place!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We were able to walk down and see/pet the horses and a sheep behind the house. Nice, quiet location not far from Ponca/Boxley where we took our older parents to see Elk. Definitely recommend staying here.

Outstanding facility; great hosts

We have stayed in cabins all over the US for the past 20 years and this one was far and away the best supplied (linen, kitchen, etc) of any visited. The ranch house was large and clean, had good views, a great deck and quiet surroundings. Our hosts lived on the property and were very gracious to us including a personalized tour of the facities on the 400 acre ranch. We would stay there again in a heart beat if we wished to visit that area of Arkansas again.

Fenced and gated—secure large area for toddler & dog to play in. Nearby spring & creek, sheep & horses entertained. Great kitchen area for family meals, and nice laundry area. Most of all we enjoyed the front porch!

Perfect Family Getaway

Our kids and grandkids joined us for a Buffalo River float trip. This house was a perfect size for us. We all had room to spread out in the house as well as gather in dining/kitchen for meals. We really enjoyed sitting on the porch each evening reliving the day’s adventures. My grandson used the fishing pole he found on the porch to fish in the small pond. The house has everything you will need down to dishwasher pods. We had a blast and will return!

Relaxing

We had such a great time! The only thing I wish we had known was that the road was gravel for over a mile. However it was very well maintained and other than being dusty wasn't an issue! We had everything we needed and my kids LOVED the horses!

An Arkansas Getaway

Peaceful and beautiful. Set in the hills away from everything, this property is really well equipped so that you can quickly unload your gear and either sit back and relax or go exploring. We enjoyed feeding the horses and saying hi to the very excited and friendly sheep. There is a nice trail up above the property and a quiet stream below it. From here we found it easy to visit Hawksbill Crag, The Glory Hole, and Alum Cove Natural Bridge. There certainly were many more places to explore but we will just have to come back another time. The property manager and the caretaker were very quick to respond to our questions and give us tips about certain things in the area. Overall, a great vacation!

Peaceful and relaxing

We wanted a rental that was away from the hustle and bustle, but located where we could make daily excursions to places like Branson, Eureka Springs, Bentonville, and Hawksbill Crag, to name a few. This place fit the bill for us perfectly. The house and property were even better than advertised. Very spacious and well stocked with all the necessities. It’s hard to capture the beauty of the property in pictures. We enjoyed petting the horses and feeding them carrots and our dog made friends with the goat. Being able to close the gates and let our dog run and play was very nice, also. Really can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at Mountain Majesty. Highly recommended!

We'll Be Back for Sure

What a beautiful location and home. This was our third family Thanksgiving trip (and our third location). We will be back at Mountain Majesty next year. The location is perfect. The layout of the house fit our needs. The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils, baking dishes, etc. The property was wonderful - lovely views from the front porch, horses and a sheep for the kids to feed, lovely place to take a walk, fireplace, fire pit. And the responsiveness of property management - spectacular!! Always a quick response, help whenever we needed it. They're great!

Gorgeous property

This property was absolutely beautiful. It was very secluded, but located perfectly for all we wanted to do. Anywhere you stay will be a drive...just remember that. The only bad this for us was the two twin beds perfect for young children was completely apart from the other bedrooms. Wish it would have been upstairs near the other bedroom. Other than that, the home was extremely clean and stocked with needed items. Oh and the laundry room was fabulous!!! Especially when you have to do laundry coming in from kayaking, horse riding, hiking, and wet towels. It could be a bedroom itself.

Awesome

The kids told us it’s an adventure house. The little ones had a blast just playing on the carpeted stairs with toys. We decided to have a rest day after a big hike so I set up my Nintendo Switch and we played Mario Kart in the living room. We didn’t use the grill but we did hang out on the porch. The kitchen has a lot of storage for food and prep space for cooking, but watch out for little ones climbing up to the bar because that’s where the stove hobs are. It locks but the surfaces can be hot for a while. We had an issue with wasps getting into the house a few times. Not sure how. Wasp spray was on the porch and there’s a fly swat inside. The entire house was very clean and the laundry room was the envy of every homemaker there. Seriously. I want one! The kids thought feeding the goats was fun and they got to splash in a little creek down the road somewhere (I didn’t go so I didn’t see it). Walking distance. The beds were so comfortable. It’s a bit hard to get back there only because the road is gravel so be mindful that it could be hard on a car low to the ground. There’s plenty of space for a bigger group, too. We had 8 and it fits 10, but I’d say a couple more could fit if you have bedrolls or something for the floor. I really don’t have anything negative to say about this property and we’re already making plans to go back next year (during float season next time)! Oh also it’s about a 30 minute drive to Harrison for Walmart depending on how fast you decide to take those curvy roads. We had issues with the WiFi the whole time but you get service at the end of the gravel road so you can load maps on your phone. I did get it to load on the WiFi but it takes a minute so just be patient, but don’t expect to watch Disney+ movies or whatever because they’re not going to load. We didn’t spend time watching tv or on devices so it wasn’t a problem for us. I did try making a call out on the house phone to a business for information on canoe rentals but I couldn’t get a call out. Not sure why. It’s extremely private and in the middle of nowhere if that’s what you’re looking for! Also safe for little ones to run around in the front yard because the gate closes with a remote. I only mention the other stuff so others would be able to prepare accordingly. Overall 10/10, would recommend!!!!!! Thanks for letting us stay!

Great family getaway

Very peaceful and relaxing environment. There is a great restaurant down the road called Sugar Boogers that was excellent and we took a little hike to Indian cave on the same property and explored a small creek in front. Just a great place to chill and enjoy ur family.

Great getaway

My family and I had a great stay at MVR. Yes, it is off the beaten path. No, there isn't a Buffalo Wild Wings right down the street. But that is why you should come stay here. Very peaceful and secluded. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and relaxing outside. Horses, deer, and no telling what else you will see. House had plenty of room, beds were comfortable, living room was relaxing. There is internet @ the house to be able to use netflix etc. on the t.v., but the connection doesn't always stay the greatest. Not a big deal. Bring DVD's with you, there is a player there, or there are also some movies under the t.v. Great location if you want to go on hikes and go floating in the area. Julianne was super responsive on any questions we had. We will likely be back as it was a great getaway to unplug from the grind of the real world for awhile. There is a grill to use, and plenty of dishes / utensils in the kitchen for anything you'd want to make.

So Relaxing!

We had a great time staying at the property. Everything was clean when we arrived! Our automatic door opener ran out of batteries, but the property manager was quick to respond and we were able to get another key quickly. Our 2 girls loved all the space to run around and explore. We loved feeding the horses, goats and catching frogs by the pond!

Relaxing home to unwind and explore the area

We really enjoyed our stay at this property! It was clean, spacious and had everything you could possibly need (including ample dishes, cookware, spices and basics, and even toiletries in case you forgot something). The rooms were very comfortable and the owners checked in frequently to see if we needed anything which we greatly appreciated. The wifi worked really well which made the few work and school obligations we had during the week possible. The horses, donkey, cat, and goats were fun to watch and feed (bring carrots and apples!) and the porch is an amazing place to have coffee, eat dinner or enjoy a rain shower. It's easy to access a lot of amazing hiking from here and worth the extra few minutes of driving for such a peaceful home base. We definitely would recommend staying here!

Great place, quiet and peaceful, short drive to any hiking you want

We loved the secluded location, still close enough to do all the activities including hiking, canoeing, and mountain biking. The horses and goats also made for great morning talks and feeding.

About the host

Hosted by Julianne Hawthorne

Host profile image
Lynda Bowers, is the owner.
I enjoy traveling up the hill to our home and waving or stopping to introduce myself to our different guests. Love seeing children enjoying themselves playing outdoors and catching pollywogs in our pounds and other fun old fashion things kids used to enjoy doing.

Why they chose this property

Lynda's goal for purchasing Mountain Valley Ranch was providing a safe and peaceful place others could stay on site and relax, read, walk, watch animals and find respite in peace and quietness.

What makes this property unique

We have failed to hear one guest over the past 11 years say they wish they could hear all the sounds of cars, busy streets and loudness. NO, they say, they love the quietness and the peace provided through the sounds of natural breezes through the trees, the sound of our creeks and streams, livestock running up and down our hills and our lovely birds. Travelers love our porches with beautiful views. A time to reflect while greatly enjoying life in a quite tranquil setting.
