Nice for the off season

Our room was beautiful and Stephen was helpful. He had breakfast for us each morning. This is a nice place to go if you like a secluded vacation. We felt it was a bit secluded though. Nothing really in the surrounding area for hours by boat or car. The beach at the resort is nice and does have kayaks to borrow. There is one rustic beachfront bar/ restaurant. Not fancy, but will fulfill your needs. We were a little disappointed with all the dogs, lack of fresh drinking water and rule to not use AC unless in bed. Cleanliness was not exactly up to par, but wasn’t horrible either. No refrigerator in bedroom and fresh water needs to be bought. Ice was hard to come by. At first we were told there were not keys available for our room. Some of the house rules took us by surprise and thought they should be mentioned on the website. Host was helpful and passionate about his ideas of how his guests stay should look. We were unaware of the beliefs of the host but were quickly made aware with the statues and yoga studio on grounds. We thoroughly enjoyed the adventure on the water with David from the other resort. Our favorite was probably going out to the barrier reef and eating our fresh finds on the boat and for dinner afterwards! What a treat!

Stephen Honeybill, your host, wants you to have an enjoyable and relaxing experience staying at The Crimson Orchid Inn.

Stephen began his career in the theatre around the British Isles culminating in the West End of London. After a number of years he gravitated into television for the greater part of his career. He worked for the British Broadcasting Corporation in production for 3 years before moving to the United States to work in Public Television for 25 years. In 2000 he was recognized as the most prolific Producer of television programs for Public Television during his tenure.

Why they chose this property

A side trip to Belize in late 2010 while looking for property in the Yucatan reawakened a lifelong love of interesting cultures, history and gorgeous weather. On sailing into the bay that Orchid Bay is located it was love at first sight. The whole bay was surrounded by pristine jungle with no signs of habitation from afar. The waters were placid, yet the cooling trade winds blew. What better place to start a new life and business? Within 6 months plans were drawn up for the Inn and the work commenced to build The Crimson Orchid Inn. By December of 2012 we opened to our first guests.

What makes this property unique

The Inn is now equipped to receive up to 18 guests in 9 rooms. It has a rooftop bar overlooking the waters of the bay and the surrounding jungle. A large palapa (thatched roof, but open air) has been built to accommodate large yoga sessions, shaded garden relaxation or parties. The Inn is situated just a 2 minute walk from the pool, beach, bay and restaurant. The owners will take care of booking excursions for their guests as a part of their stay.
