About this property
Luxurious Rooms And Crisp, Virgin Mountain Air Awaits....Chef on Call
Nestled between two mountain ranges, Charley's Inn offers a taste of the real Jamaican country-style living, wrapped in modern day comfort. This is a comfy getaway destination just 20 minutes (15 miles) from Negril's legendary Seven Mile beach.
Enjoy the comforts of home away from home - hot water, air conditioning, luxurious bedrooms and bath rooms with natural heating. Awake each morning to crisp, virgin mountain air!
Charley's Inn is built for comfort, away from the hustle and bustle. Guest accommodation is comparable to five star hotel rooms in Negril. The building has 10 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms in total; kitchen, living room, and patio on the first and second floors. The second floor is dedicated to guests. It has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms; the master bedroom has a private balcony facing the mountains.
Charley's Inn has two floors and an above ground basement. When guests book, they will have access to the entire second floor, which has its own private entrance. This floor has four bedrooms and three bathrooms, including a master bedroom and private bath with jacuzzi bathtub and stall shower. A kitchen is available with utensils, gas stove, microwave oven, toaster oven, refrigerator, and coffee grinder/maker. The living room has a couch and TV. Washer and dryer are in the basement, and are available at an additional cost.
Cave Valley is nestled between two mountain ranges, with a main street running the length of the valley, and secondary roads leading to the foothills in both directions. Entry and exit are generally from the Green Island/Negril direction; however, should one continue all the way through the valley, the road leads to Little London in Westmoreland, and from there a right turn leads to Negril and a left turn leads to Savanna-la-Mar. Much of the valley is pristine, and almost constantly filled with the chirping of birds, should you take the time to listen. Farming is a very important part of the local economy, and seasonal fruits such as mango, star apple, guinep (spanish lime), Jamaican (ataheiti) apple, tamarind, naseberry (sapodilla), June plum (ambarella), guava, sweet sop (sugar apple), Jackfruit!, soursop, tangerine, pomegranate, pineapple, star fruit (carambola), and of course Ackee and Breadfruit, are plentiful when in season. Coconut and sugar cane are must haves, and you should never visit without sitting down to a plate of ackee and saltfish (salted cod) with roasted breadfruit. (Please scroll through the pictures to see images of fruits).
Hotels and other business ventures in Negril provide employment for the majority of residents.
Charley's Inn is but a stone's throw from the main street where public transportation (taxi-cabs) is available all day. Taxicabs can be hailed right at Charley's Inn, however this is less frequent. Respect Tours, operated by Garry, is located next door to Charley's Inn. Respect Tours provide airport drop off and pick up, sightseeing and shopping tours - Rick's Cafe, Appleton Estate & Rum Tour, Lovers Leap, and many more.

About the host
Hosted by Claude Campbell

Hello!!!!
My name is is Claude Campbell. I grew up in a 4-room house on the very spot where Charley's Inn now stands. At the age of 12, rambunctious and full of the ignorance of youth, I promised my dear mother that I would build her a very nice house. Twenty seven years later I finally did. Phew! In 2004 I designed and built her this house which I named Charley's Inn in her memory, after the Lord took her home to rest in 2007. I now live and work in the United States, and seize every opportunity I get to go back to Cave Valley to re-live the memories of growing up in this village that had no boundaries for us as children, as we roamed the hills on both sides of the valley, swam and fished in every river, and relished eating every fruit we could find (even those our parents warned were poisonous). Today, my trips back home never fail to inspire.

Why they chose this property
My hope is that you will visit us at Charley's Inn and experience the crisp mountain air I was privileged to breathe every morning while growing up; awake to the calls of the roosters, or be serenaded in bed by the mockingbirds. I deliberately built the roof on Charley's Inn so that we could listen to the pitter-patter of the raindrops, which is so reminiscent of the house I grew up in, with my eight siblings. This is a modern home, built with comfort in mind; hot water, air conditioning in each bedroom, kitchen amenities, cable TV, and quietude awaits.
