About this property

Welcome to the perfect mountain vacation getaway for two. We are located in the upscale gated community of The Divide at Bald Rock where serenity will surround you with breathtaking long-range mountain views. The residence is nestled at the edge of the woods sitting near the top of the mountain at 4200 ft elevation. Secluded, yet you are just minutes away from Cashiers, NC and a short scenic drive to Highlands, NC where shopping and dining experiences are plentiful.

The 800 SF guest house is above the main residence's detached garage and has a private/separate entry. *Please note that we are only renting this space when we are not on-site; therefore, ensuring privacy during your stay.

With open-beams, wood ceilings and floors, the space exudes mountain comfort and warmth. The residence was designed by my father, a retired architect, who always dreamed of having a mountain home. After two years of design preparation, the home was completed in 2015 and the quality guest house furnishings were finished in 2018.

KITCHENETTE has granite counters, stainless steel GE refrigerator, dishwasher, cook top and microwave. Everything you will need to make light meals and/or snacks. A corner bistro table provides the perfect dining spot with spectacular views of Chimney Top mountain and more.

LIVING ROOM offers plenty of comfortable space to curl-up and read, watch TV or simply take in the view through the windows that expand the length of the room.

BATHROOM has a walk-in tile shower with seat and two vanity areas complete with copper sinks.

BEDROOM: Enjoy sleeping in the luxurious King size bed with pillow top mattress. Upscale furnishings offer plenty of space for your belongings.

MAIN DECK access is yours to enjoy, dining al fresco under the gazebo or having a cocktail while taking in the gorgeous mountain-view sunsets.

Sapphire Sunset

100% as advertised! Perfect spot for a romantic weekend. If enjoy epic sunsets and being lulled asleep by thousands of chirping Katydids, this is the place for you. Bring your hill climbing A game as the road up to 4200ft is not for amateurs.

It doesn’t get any better than this!

Without a doubt, this was the best “homestay get away” experience I’ve ever had. The one BR was perfect for us - clean, comfortable, warm, a great bed, the list goes on. And the views! Sitting on the fabulous porch at the main residence for coffee in the mornings and a glass or two of wine in the early evenings was heavenly. I cannot say enough good things about our 3 night stay. Next time, we agreed that we must stay for a week!!

Short get away

Very clean, well maintained, and supplied well. The views are amazing and the bed was super comfortable! The drive is about 12-13 mins to the top and has some pretty steep inclines, but everything is paved. The best views are at the top!

Lovely setting, comfortable furnishing

This getaway is in a beautiful setting. The driving instructions up a winding mountain road were very helpful and the house and furnishings were spotless and comfortable. It's the perfect place for a party of two to take in the splendor of the mountains near Cashiers. We had to alter dates and our host, Molly, made that process easy. She was great to work with.

Beautiful doesn't begin to describe the view

My wife and I had never visited Cashiers or Highlands, and we booked this wonderful garage apartment at the top of Bald Rock in Sapphire Valley. It's a gorgeous 20 minute drive to Cashiers, 20 minutes to Glenville Lake, and maybe 40 minutes to Highlands...but the scenery up here beats anything you will see in all of those locations.

Just lovely!

My husband and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary in this lovely mountain getaway. The view is spectacular and the cottage was clean, comfortable, and provided everything we could ask for. We particularly enjoyed the expansive decks with million dollar views! The host was welcoming and responsive, and the property manager was friendly and helpful. We couldn’t have enjoyed it more!

Wonderful property and great stay.

We enjoyed our stay at Molly’s property, everything went smoothly, the instruction and check in and check out process were clear and no confusion. This place is a hidden gem! We could not have been more pleased - it was perfect. The expansive decks are just lovely, if we weren’t hiking, we were on those beautiful decks reading. We ate all our meals out there. You cannot get those views from a restaurant! We enjoyed every sunset. Everything was so peaceful and perfect. Thank you Molly!

You will want to live on the deck…

The whole process from booking to check out was a breeze. The above garage apartment was meticulously clean. The kitchen was well appointed, too. We rarely spent time in the house because the panoramic view from the deck was so breathtaking. The layout of each of the four separate seating areas is both thoughtful and comfortable. You’ll enjoy phenomenal sunsets!

50th Anniversary celebration

When looking for a mountain place to stay in early October we wanted something with a beautiful view and this place did not disappoint. Watching the sunsets was spectacular. The ride up the mountain was an adventure, especially after taking a wrong turn and going to the top of the wrong mountain. Don't use your GPS. Follow the directions Molly will send you. It was very easy to contact her and she talked us through our redirect to get back where we needed to be. We ventured out after arrival to get something to eat and so coming back up the mountain it was dark, but it was all part of our adventure so we loved it. The next day we went sightseeing through some of the rest of the community. There are some beautiful homes there. The place was so comfortable and homey. Internet reception was good. The TV worked perfectly. We watched Netflix movies one night. The kitchen was well supplied with what we needed to prepare a few meals. There is no oven, but it was easy to plan around that. Sitting at the table peering out at the mountain range while eating breakfast was a delightful treat, as was my delicious cup of coffee, and sitting on the deck with a glass of wine watching the sun set was the best part of the end of the day. I wish we could have stayed longer, but we will definitely stay here again. Thanks for opening your place to others to enjoy the magic of the mountains.

In 2009, My husband Dave and I, along with our family, vacationed near Sapphire. We immediately fell in love with the area and spent the next three years looking for the perfect piece of property in order to build our mountain home. My father, a retired architect, was the master designer and after two years of planning and 15 months of building, our mountain dream home was complete in 2015. We are so grateful to own this beautiful property and we are especially thrilled to have the legacy of my father's design in this home. It is a home that we hope will be in our family for generations to come. Although built with our retirement in mind, we are not quite ready for that stage of life. We currently use the home for family vacations and occasionally entertaining friends. Because of the limited use, we decided to share a part of our home and its gorgeous surroundings with others by making the guest house above the garage available for rent. I hope you enjoy this amazing property as much as we do!
