About this property
Beautiful New Home near Downtown Houston
I am renting out my new completely remodeled home. It is a 1929 historic home that has been completely updated. The home has everything brand new. You will have 3 Ikea queen beds(2 in bedroom #1) and (1 in bedroom #2) with brand new linens, pillows, toiletries, and coffee. You will have your own private driveway & backyard. The sofa is also completely sleepable, there are actually 2 sofas in the living room. You are also very close to downtown(5 minute Uber ride into downtown) where you can quickly get to Minute Maid Park home of the Houston Astros, Toyota Center home of the Rockets, or the George R Brown Convention Center). I am completely accomodating and can help you with anything you need during your stay.

We needed a temporary home for three weeks. This was okay for us. The beds were comfortable. Bathroom was okay. This house is more like a cabin in the woods: a little rough but comfortable. Kitchen needs a few more things like dishes. Our host said he would take care of that. Great location close to the University of Houston and easy access to downtown and the restaurants of the Eado district. Would stay there again.
I was there for a total of 4 hours before deciding it was safest for me and my friend to leave and find another accommodation.
-Initially we couldn’t get into the property for almost 6 hours. The check in instructions was incorrect. The host did not respond in a timely manner. We called vrbo which took 48 minutes to speak to a rep.
-upon entry of the home, we realized this place had not been properly sanitized or cleaned. There was hair, blood stains, dirt, and food crumbs on all 3 beds, the couch especially, all over the floors in the living room and kitchen.
-there were spider webs in almost all areas of the house.
- there were dead cockroaches and miscellaneous bugs in every corner of the house, especially the kitchen (disgusting). When opening the drawer to use utensils, the utensil tray was absolutely disgusting with bugs and unclean utensils. There is also only 2 pans in the kitchen. Which were filthy.
-worst of all, there was zero handsoap for us to use. In the washroom there was a soap dispenser with JUST water inside. Not soap. There was no dish soap or hand soap in the kitchen.
-we let the host know about our concerns who subsequently told us to sleep on said dirty sheets and dirty house and he will send a cleaner at NOON the next day. NOON!!!! Not first thing in the morning.
-also note the house is EXTREMELY warm upon entry. It is so hot inside it’s unbearable. And if you want to adjust the ceiling fan you have to go through spiderwebs, and no dish soap to use afterwards.
- I made the decision to leave as it was unsanitary and unsafe overall in regards to health and safety.
We visited several of the sights located around the area including the zoo and the fine arts museum. This home is conveniently located with nearby access to the freeway. The neighborhood appears to be experiencing gentrification, but there are still plenty of wonderful small minority-owned businesses. The street was very quiet with friendly neighbors. I love trains--so this wasn't an issue for me--but there is a very active railroad track close by, and you will hear train horns several times day and night.
The house is beautiful, the property is nice and checking in and out was very easy. Would recomend.
The house is beautiful. Perfect for us and close to everything we wanted to do. The kitchen could be stalked a little more and the driveway needs a little repair. I would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

About the host
Hosted by Rico Hernandez
Hi My name is Rico I am a graduate from the University of Houston and work in the field of education as a teacher. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, scuba diving, and love to spend time with family and friends.
Why they chose this property
My place is near downtown, in an Uber it is only 5 minutes away. I think you will enjoy this quiet neighborhood in the city of Houston. This home was completely remodeled just this year, and everything in the house is brand new: Floors, full kitchen, restroom, bedrooms, central cooling/heating unit, high speed wifi, cable television, washer and dryer. You can drive anywhere from my location and you won't be far away from restaurants, cafes, shopping, parks, bars supermarkets.. etc etc.
What makes this property unique
I think a benefit to staying at my place is you will have a full kitchen, washer and dryer, a backyard, a front porch, a full size refrigerator, and you will feel like you are at home in this quiet neighborhood near downtown.
