Peaceful and private, large Lake Huron waterfront cottage with all the amenities and 2100 square feet of living space, renting Saturday to Saturday only. Inside you will find comfortable, well-equipped & nicely appointed living and dining areas, wi-fi & cable, an indoor fireplace, reading room with elevated deck providing yet another unique and stunning Lake Huron view, attached garage, washer & dryer, bicycles [including a bicycle built for 2] & kayaks. Outside you will enjoy miles of walk-able beach with an incredible vista of the Straits of Mackinac; gaze out on freighters in the shipping channel. Our Dune Cottage offers a unique opportunity to watch the sunrise and sunset from the same beach on the same day! At night you will enjoy S'mores during beach campfires featuring celestial light shows you must see to believe! Our Dune Cottage’s front yard offers sugar sand from shore to door and looks out at the Poe Reef Lighthouse, Bois Blanc Island and the Mighty Mac Bridge. The back yard is equally beautiful, 85 acres of Nature Conservancy forest preserve. While our Dune Cottage is serene and thoroughly relaxing, it also offers a launch pad to a spectacular and exciting "Pure Michigan" Up-North recreational experience. Located just minutes from Downtown Cheboygan & Mackinaw City, fun opportunities abound. The Mackinac Island Ferry, shopping & dining are just the beginning. Boaters & anglers will find numerous put-ins along the Cheboygan River, including small boat locks, leading to the 40-mile inland waterway flowing into the massive & gorgeous Mullet and Burt Lakes. Also within a half hour drive is the town of Indian River; home of many high adventure companies & the famed Cross in the Woods. The Treetop Discovery Tower and forest canopy bridge and zip line at Mill Creek Discovery Park challenge the adventurous among us. There are half a dozen state parks and also casinos within a half hour drive. A little farther afield are the pristine hiking trails leading to the breathtaking Ocqueoc Falls & considering the Mackinac Bridge is just up the street, the Upper Peninsula offers still more spectacular sights and entertainment!

Beautiful cottage!

This was our 2nd stay at the dune cottage. It is a beautiful property, always clean, and well stocked with anything you need! The new kitchen is amazing! The outside deck and gazebo are great places to hang out. The beach is private and the availability of kayaks and bikes is a plus. Karen is amazing to work with and answers any question within minutes. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Great Property

Northern MI getaway

This house is wonderful! The views are amazing, the sunsets just stunning. Found lots of great rocks to bring home. Perfect location for all we wanted to do including Mackinac Island, Whitefish Point, and Tahquamenon Falls. Great communication from the owner and absolutely no problems at all during our stay. House is nicely stocked and beds are comfy. Would definitely stay again! Thank you for a perfect week!

Perfect “up North” place on Lake Huron

Beautiful location on Lake Huron. Spent most of our time in the lake, on beach, kayaking, or eating on perfect screened in porch with views. Fire pit area is a must. Great location for day trips (Mackinac Is., Pictured Rocks, Harbor Springs, etc.)

Lake Huron paradise

We enjoyed a great week at the cottage and it served as a base to explore the surrounding area. We enjoyed the great restaurants of Cheboygan and the new Cheboygan Coffee Roasters shop. The cottage has amazing views of Lake Huron from almost every room. There was ample room for the entire family. We especially enjoyed the screened gazebo for meals and family time together. The fire pit overlooking the beach is great. Communication with Karen was great. We recommend the Nautical North Family a adventures in Cheboygan for a great shipwreck tour experience. This was our second stay at the dune cottage and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

Great Cottage on Lake Huron

My husband and I stayed for a week and enjoyed walking on the beach, kayaking and watching the sunrise and sunset. The cottage is large and comfortable and close to several tourist areas but private, quiet and on the lake. Karen is easy to work with and has the house nicely decorated and stocked. Amazing is an understatement

This was easily one of the best places we have stayed. The house was clean and tastefully decorated. The owner had firewood and smores kits for us to use at the firepit. You cannot find a better spot on the lake. We spent a lot of time at the beach enjoying the lake and the views. If its a clear evening, you can watch the sunset with a view of the Mackinac Bridge in the distance. We just left and my kids are asking when we can come back. Hopefully it will be soon!! Don't pass this pace up.

Another great stay!

I just got back from my 2nd stay at the Dune Cottage and I've already booked my stay for next year. The kitchen has every appliance that you'll need, the cottage is very clean and the mattress in the master bedroom is very comfortable. The location is great. As other reviewers have said, it's close to town, but far enough away that it's quite peaceful. I spent one day in Petoskey, one day on the island and a did a couple days in the U.P. Travel to each location was quite easy.

Great vacation home

This was our 2nd stay at the cottage and look forward to renting again. Love the location, as you are close enough to town to buzz in if you need something or want a trip to Mac City for an excursion. Yet, far enough away for serenity and peacefulness. The house is very clean, has a well stocked kitchen and all amenities you could want. Beds are very comfortable and you can hear the waves crashing in from all rooms. Love the outdoor seating area and screened in porch. The walk to the beach is just a few steps and was very easy for our 85 y/o mother. Rock picking is fabulous, esp for pudding stones. Missed seeing the northern lights ( we fell asleep) but stargazing is awesome. Had strong winds and 80 degree weather so didn't get to use the fire pit this year, but appreciate the Smore gift bag. Loved the large waves crashing in. Watched freighers go by and really only saw about 8 other people on the beach the entire week. House looks great painted since we last rented and loved the large flower pots. It feels like home when we rent! Perfect size house for 4 adults and looking forward to renting again. Thanks again Karen for sharing your beautiful home for us to enjoy.

Beautiful property, amazing trip

If you are looking for a fantastic place, look no further. We walked in and were greeted with a s’mores kit to enjoy at the fire pit near the beach. The house was clean and very comfortable. 3 large bedrooms and a loft with a balcony view. We went grocery shopping and enjoyed eating meals at the table overlooking Lake Huron. The kitchen had everything we needed. We used the kayaks and mat and loved the quick walk to and from the beach. Beautiful view of the Mackinaw bridge and a rock collectors dream on the shores. The host was great. Answered all questions and gave us some tips on things to do and places to visit. We enjoyed Cheyboygan, Mackinaw City, St Ignace, Salut Ste Marie and got to see the Soo Locks in action. We took the ferry over to Mackinac Island and spent the day walking the island. We enjoyed the Lumberjack show one night and one rainy afternoon we went to Kingston theatre. The sunsets are stunning. It was one of the most relaxing trips I have ever had. At night we would have fires and walk the beach. The kids ages 11 and 9 loved the trip. We will definitely be back!

Blessed “Nanacation”

A week with 4 grands!

We had stayed at Dune Cottage in 2020 with our grand children , ages 4 to 16. It was as good now as was back then! Plenty of kitchen ware, every pan and utensil you may need for cottage living! We love the screened in gazebo and Lake Huron was as spectacular as ever. Plenty of room to walk the beach rock hunting, (water shoes are good). Bonfire area is perfect viewing over the lake. Wonderful upstairs den with balcony, spacious bathroom and 3 bedrooms. Plenty of towels. A little dark in upstairs hallway but small flashlights are thru out the house. The bikes, games and water toys a bonus! Private beach🙂with a water matt and very low traffic for bike riding. We would stay again!!!

Breathtaking Sunsets and Sunrises

We thoroughly enjoyed staying is this well kept cottage. The daily walks along the beach and watching the sunrise and sunset from your own private beach is exceptional! Short drive into very cute Downtown Cheboygan! Easy access to several attractions too. Thirty minutes to the bridge, a half an hour to the ocqueoc falls ! Highly recommend this cottage for two or eight! We had a fabulous stay!

Fabulous week!

We loved staying at the dune cottage! Karen is excellent with communication and check in was a breeze. The house was clean with a well equipped kitchen. We appreciated having the bikes, kayaks, chairs and floating island to use. The setting felt remote and private, but was just a short drive to Cheboygan and Mackinaw City. The scenery and private beach was amazing, like having your own little slice of paradise! Sunrises AND sunsets are unbeatable! We did not need air conditioning, but there are portable units in all 3 bedrooms. We would definitely love to return! PS- the s’mores welcome package was a great welcome! Judi Freytag

Wonderful Views and Cool Breezes

My wife and I spent two weeks at Dune Cottage. The property is well maintained, and we particularly enjoyed walks on the beach and the views from the living room and deck. The kitchen was well-equipped, and other amenities (kayaks, bicycles, gas and charcoal grills) were much appreciated. Looking forward to coming back!

Beautiful View

This was a wonderfully clean beach house rental on Lake Huron. The pictures were very accurate. Check in/ check out seamless. Excellent location to activities. Easy communication with owners. The kitchen is incredibly well-stocked, ample towels, and comfortable seating in the living room, nice dining room table, and comfortable beds and bedding. The screened in gazebo was perfect for morning coffee and suppers. It catches all the breezes and the view is incredible! The lake is beautiful with crystal clear water. Looking for stones is endlessly entertaining. We were very grateful for the portable a/c in the master bedroom. The weather was very warm while we were there (lucky us for swimming!), but the house gets pretty warm inside due to the odd lack of windows that open toward the lake and the predominant breeze. That's my only comment for improvement--otherwise, it was perfect and we had a wonderful relaxing 2 weeks! Would love to return sometime :)

Relaxing Dune Cottage

My brother, sisters and I stayed at Dune Cottage for our annual family vacation. We all loved the cottage. We were pleasantly surprised by a welcome gift of S'mores from the owners. The view of Lake Huron from the living room was gorgeous. It was so peaceful and quiet we really relaxed. Cheboygan is a nice laid back town. The location of the cottage made it easy for us to day trip to Petoskey, Mackinaw and Les Cheneaux Islands. We did have one technical glitch trying to connect to the Wi-Fi, but minutes after texting the owners they called to walk us through getting connected. We all agreed we would be happy to come back.

Did not want to leave!!

The Old Dune Cottage is wonderful!! We stayed two weeks and did not want to leave. Very quiet and peaceful neighborhood. There was really nothing extra we needed to bring! Kitchen was very well stocked and, everything was in great condition!! Watching and noting down the ships and freighters passing was such fun. I'm still checking them! Rocky beach but, you get used to it. Was great being so close to the water and easy to get down to. You know us old folks. No dishwasher? Who cares? Paper plates were great! The absolute only thing I would change about the place is, that the front windows would open and maybe one of them be a doorwall. All the better to get the lake breeze and sounds!! Loved the screened gazebo!! We could spend the entire summer there!

The walk to our beach is straight out from our deck. There are no stairs or steep grades to get to the water. The Sunrise and Sunset are both visible every day from the beach at Our Dune Cottage! We call it Our Dune Cottage because the house and the fire pit all sit high up on sand dunes. When was the last time you rode a bicycle built for 2?
