AWESOME NORTH SHORE GETAWAY @ TURTLE BAY! Short walk to ocean and safe family-friendly beach.

Welcome to our air conditioned and spacious condo at Kuilima Estates East, located right at the entrance of Turtle Bay, Ritz Carlton North Shore. Our 1 bedroom condo with loft sleeps 6. Come for rest and relaxation, hit the beach with all of our beach toys (snorkel gear, foam surf board, boogie boards, chairs), enjoy some golf or even pickle ball (paddles & balls provided)!

Our two-story condo begins on the second floor of a quiet corner unit facing the golf course. The main floor features a primary bedroom with king size bed, bathroom with tub, in-unit laundry, full size kitchen, living room with high ceilings, and screened in lanai/porch. Upstairs you will find two queen beds and a second bathroom with shower. It has all of the comforts of home with air conditioning in every room, great WIFI and three TV's.

One parking space is included, right in front of the unit. A second guest parking space is available - just let us know if you will need parking for another vehicle. There is also a bus stop in walking distance.

With Turtle Bay’s Ritz Carlton North Shore Resort being just a short walk, our guests can enjoy the public amenities of the resort including: family-friendly public beach, nature trails, horseback riding, surfing lessons, snorkeling, day spa, helicopter tours, and two championship golf courses. Additionally, at the resort you will find ocean front dining at "Beach House by Roy Yamaguchi", "Lei Lei's Bar and Grill" at the golf clubhouse, a "Paniolo Lu'au" every Wednesday night, nightlife at the lobby bar “Off The Lip,” and the coffee shop at the hotel lobby. Also, enjoy the "Sunset Pool Bar" where you can sit and enjoy the nightly live entertainment and watch the surfers catch waves while viewing the beautiful sunset. Enjoy the resort experience for a fraction of the price! But don't forget all the delicious food trucks nearby in Kahuku and "Ted's Bakery" near Sunset Beach, a must stop for local dining, pies and other desserts made right there. Or you have the option of just staying home and enjoying your own cooking!

The world famous "7 Mile Miracle" surfing beaches (Sunset Beach, Pipeline, Waimea Bay, Chun's Reef, Laniakea, and others), the Polynesian Cultural Center, and Historic Haleiwa town are all a short drive away.

Wonderful beach get away!

My family and I stayed here and absolutely loved it. Turtle Bay Beach was a short walk away and many other breath taking beaches were short drives away. We loved being able to take a short drive to food carts, the Polynesian cultural center or the farmers market. Wonderful condo! Owners respond super fast and are extremely helpful! We highly recommend it!

Great place for the family

The condo was an excellent place for our family of four, especially the teens needing their own little space. We’ve stayed in Turtle Bay on previous trips and always enjoy the location. The only thing I would recommend is a refreshing of the beach amenities, but overall we loved our stay and would definitely come back.

Great home base on the North Shore

My husband and I were looking for a comfortable place as a jumping off point for a week of adventures with the kids. We wanted a place to make meals in between trips to the food truck park and the capability to keep up with the dirty laundry. The beds were comfortable and we used the beach towels everyday. We appreciated the screened lanai and the ice maker in the freezer. It was an easy walk to catch a sunset or sunrise near the resort or walk to the bay in our suits. Communication with the host was easy and clear. We’d definitely book again!

Cozy Place

The place is very cute. Beds are very confortable and it is very close to the beach. I also liked that it was pretty spacious for a family of four. On the other hand, the condo itself wasn’t very clean. Both bathrooms needed to actually be cleaned. I even found adults hairs, and three dead cockroaches in the tub. This place definitely needs some TLC. It could be the perfect place if it was well maintained.

The property is in a great location short walk to a beautiful beach. If you are coming to do a lot of hiking you will spend some time in the car going back to the other side of the island.

The place was great! A/C works well. Was stocked with plenty of beach gear, boogie boards, snorkel gear, etc. Very awesome location on the North Shore. It was nice to have a pool to swim in as well. Beds were comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

Home Away from home

Very clean and comfortable. Loved that it had everything we needed from boogie boards to everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. It definitely felt like a home away from home. It was perfectly located too! Definitely will be staying here again! Cathy was easy to reach out too so don't hesitate to ask questions if you need help!

Great Location

The location and commune were awesome! Everything is just a short drive away. The house had pretty much everything we needed. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is that there were roaches and the stove only had one burner that worked. So, breakfast took a while to make for 7 people. Other than that, it was a fantastic stay.

Great place for a bigger group with lots of beach items to use!

This was a great place with lots of room for our 6 guests. The beds were comfortable and clean. We enjoyed having a kitchen to cook meals in. And we really loved that they provided beach towels, beach chairs, an umbrella, sand toys, and boogie boards. They made days at the beach so nice. The owner was also quick to respond to any questions. And it was nice having a unit with AC since my husband can’t sleep well if he’s too hot. We would definitely use this place again.

Cockroaches

We literally killed about 100 during our week long stay (mostly in the kitchen and bathrooms, but they were everywhere). We contacted the property manager about it the first night and pest control came to put traps/bait, but it wasn't enough to deal with the problem. The place also seemed like it hadn't been deep-cleaned in a long time (built up dust and dirt on wall hangings, fans, baseboards, etc.). Also, the check-in requires you to retrieve keys from the property manager's mailbox a few miles away; kind of a hassle. For the positives: the beds are comfortable and the condo is decently equipped with kitchen items/beach gear. We've stayed at other rentals in Kuilima Estates many times before and this was our worst experience.

Kawela Bay review

Many cockroaches in kitchen including the dishwasher; greasy, unclean, and chipped dishes in cupboards; front security door is very difficult to shut close; had to drive out of the way to pickup and drop off the keys at someone's personal home. We've stayed in far nicker places for less in the same complex and we would definitely not stay here again.

As usual a great stay!

We sure do like staying at Turtle Bay! Cathy’s place was certainly familiar to us and it helped make our trip great! I’m house laundry is sooo convenient! Check in was easy. The main toilet had trouble with refilling the tank and the smoke detector battery was low which resulted in chirping. We informed her about it and she was fixing to take care of it. The bed was plenty comfy. Windows and sliders open for a nice cross breeze. The place stayed plenty cool for us to sleep at night. Kitchen could have been better stocked with spices. Sift through some of the beach amenities to make sure they function well- both umbrellas we tried to bring with us were broken. But this is all very small stuff and we had a great time regardless! Love the North Shore!

Enjoyable Stay

My husband and I had a great time staying in this unit. It is in a very beautiful location, right on a golf course, close to the ocean. From the lanai we enjoyed watching the sunrise the couple of times that we got up early. The condo is decorated quite nicely as the pictures show and is also very clean and comfortable with a nice breeze blowing through making it unnecessary to turn on the air conditioning. It was stocked really well, even had a cooler so we could take cold drinks with us to the beach. This condo had parking right in front with its own designated space. We enjoyed the beach to the right of Turtle Bay Resort, it was real calm and safe so we could enjoy swimming. We walked out in the evenings to the "Hang Ten" bar at the resort to enjoy the music and the beautiful sunsets. It was only a 10 minute walk, then on our way back stopped at "Lei Lei's" to eat. The food was delicious and had real pleasant outdoor dining. A short drive north to the "Kahuku Grill", great food and reasonable. Also "Ted's Bakery" to the south, also a short drive, it seemed to be the popular hangout. Cathy was great to work with and also very accommodating. We would definitely like to come back here and would recommend this unit to friends and relatives.

Perfect home base while staying on Oahu

Keep in mind I traveled with my husband and our 4 kids (ages 11-19) as you read this: Location: This was our first time going to Hawaii, and from past experiences we prefer a calmer place to stay in rather than the hotel-feel you get by staying in a high rise condo/resort. Staying on the North Shore can be a drive if you are constantly going back to the south side, but we loved the slow ride around in the mornings. Having the ocean in view as the day begins is just awesome. The beaches in the area have much stronger waves than they do on the south side of the island, but easy to pull off the side of the road to visit. Food in the area: There is Ted’s Bakery a couple miles away in one direction (excellent pies and breakfast + lunch options), and a community of food trucks a few miles in the other direction (recommend Seven Brothers for burgers and salads, and Giovanni’s for shrimp) so there are good options are nearby. Condo: this condo was just the right size for our group of 6. I was very happy with in-house laundry available. It was stocked with plenty of beach towels and bath towels. She had a supply of boogie boards and snorkeling gear. I’d wished there was a better skillet/frying pan to use for making breakfast - the ones there had most the non stick coating scratched/worn off. There were a couple roaches hanging around, but I understand that’s everywhere there so oh well. Very happy with this location - key pick up/drop off was easy. Thanks!!

Great location and Comfortable

We've stayed at Kuilima Estates condos many times for the past 32 years. This condo has that "Hawaiiana" feel. It felt like being at "home in the islands". Back in the day, check in was much harder, this was not so bad. Yes, you have to go to the prop managers house to pick-up/drop-off keys but I really did not mind that at all, it was very easy to find and it was nice to pick up from a home instead of a business that may have limited hours. The beds were very comfortable. The overall condo was clean. There was a slight issue. This is not uncommon for the islands in general. As mentioned in other reviews, there were a few cockroach sightings, especially in the loft upstairs and a couple in the kitchen. Our friends, who have never been to the islands, got the full "island" feel since they were staying in the loft :). I spoke to Cathy about this and she explained what was going on and it totally made sense and hopefully that issue, which is no fault of theirs, will be resolved very soon. Otherwise, a very good stay. There were lots of items you would need for the beach; chairs, sand toys, boogie board, snorkeling gear, towels ... etc. So nice to have readily available. The washer/dryer is on the smaller side so when you wash the towels at the end of the stay, you may want to start the night before. :). We did and it was no problem at all. Okay Property in a Nice Location but with Issues

We had some problems with this rental. When we arrived, we had to pick up the keys from the owner’s mailbox a 5-10 minute drive away, which was a little odd but not a huge deal. After we settled in, we realized we were short a towel and couldn’t get the fan in the master bedroom to work. It was advertised as a rental for up to seven people so we expected seven towels. We reached out to the owner, and she responded that she wouldn’t provide an extra towel nor help with the fan (just said “hope you figured it out”). There were also quite a few cockroaches and even a lizard behind the fridge that we came across in the rental during our stay, and the appliances really need updating (especially the stove, which was very old and only had 3 functional burners). As part of the checkout procedure, the owner also asked that we wash and dry all towels before leaving. The washer was quite small so this required several loads and kept us tied to the condo on our last morning, which was frustrating. This was our first VRBO ever that didn’t take care of the laundry but expected it to be washed and dried by the renter. Finally, after we left, we were charged a hefty fine for “not returning the keys.” We had left them on the counter and locked the rental behind us, which is pretty standard procedure for VRBO. On the checkout sheet within the condo there were no alternate instructions given. We asked her to refund the charge. She responded that she had explained the procedure to return the keys by driving them back to her house where we picked them in a check-in email she had sent a while back. After a bit of digging I finally found it mentioned in parenthesis in the middle of driving directions she gave to the condo. We again asked her to refund the charge as we did not take the keys with us but left them within her unit. We also suggested that she make these unusual key instructions more clear to future clients (put it on the check out instruction sheet, send an email closer to check out with specific check out instructions, and/or even put this information on the description in the listing). She has not responded. On the plus side, the mattresses were very comfortable, the location was great, the beach toys were appreciated (especially the umbrella, boogie boards, and chairs), and it was nice that there were some basic condiments and seasonings in the kitchen.
