Guys Trip

House and location was exactly as described. The "pod" like layout of the rental is unique and was well received and experienced by our group. The walk down to the water is a steep walk, but the end of the path led to a beautiful private deck and access to the crystal clear water, where we spent hours enjoying the water and scenery!!! The driveway is difficult to maneuver and there is some aging to the kitchen cabinets, but that had zero effect on our stay or experience. Would definitely stay at this location again!!! thank you for lending us your property!!!

Mountain Mayhem

The view was Epic…. Otherwise, the property leaves much to be desired… The pool pics were deceptive, WAY smaller in person. It was dirty and we were told the pool guy would be out to service which didn’t happen. The toilet was inoperable upstairs which we were told Plummer would be out to repair which also Never Happened… However that in it self caused much concern for children when they needed to use bathroom in the middle of night. Because the steps were dark and unsafe, simply put it wasn’t kid friendly. All the other toilet seats were loose with one roll of tissue which we were told by the host she would bring some but That also Never Happened… In the nutshell, its deep in mountains, difficult to navigate in/ out when driving. I Would Not recommend any of my friends and family to stay at this property… All of our issues went unresolved!! Outside of the Views i have nothing else positive to say about it!!

Not what’s advertised !

This property was a total disappointment for the amount of money that is being charged per stay . There were leaks going down from shower into kitchen everytime u shower , skylight in other bathroom leaked very bad every time it rained . Pool was absolutely gross until the day before we left . Power went out in island and generator was not working properly had to get family to start manually . Kitchen cabinets falling apart . Creepy neighbor that lurks in background watching u all the time . And if u have guests , they will not be allowed to park due to neighbor blocking off driveway and not being courteous at all . Needs a lot of cleaning and maintenance

Great stay

We absolutely enjoyed our stay here. It couldn’t have been more perfect. The host was extremely helpful with everything as it was our first time in St. Thomas.

Family Spring Break 2021

The location is a bit difficult to get to. However, once you get there you will not regret it. We booked for an entire week and wished it was a month. The property views and vibe is like none other on the island. This is a great home rental for any type of traveler, family, couples, bachelors, girls trip, etc. More than enough space and ample privacy for all. Breathtaking views from every room.

Would not recommend to a friend

Sadly my aunt and uncle paid full price for this house and it is very run down and in need of a lot of repairs. We could look past the cracks in the walls and floor because of the past storm but some of the issues were just ridiculous. The guest shower is broken and the kitchen cabinets are all falling apart. The pool was dirty until day 6 after 2 complaints to the owner. Some things would be such an easy fix, there were only 3 coffee cups, no pot holders or dish towels, no beach chairs. The rugs were filthy and old, one of the spare blankets had holes in it. The beds were hard as rocks. There were some good aspects to the property, the location can not be beat. The bath towels were new and there were plenty of beach towels. The sheets were clean and seemed new. We have stayed at many houses on the island and have paid far less and received far more. This house was over $5000.00 and should have been much better than it was.

Beautiful views, relaxing atmosphere...

The house was as advertised--very spacious, plenty of room for us to all be there (group of 6) and yet not feel like we were crowding each other. The caretaker met us at the airport and led us back to the house. I was really glad he did, as my Verizon phone would not work on the island (AT&T and T-Mobile seem to work though). The roads take some getting used to--left side driving on winding, narrow mountain roads. The driveway to the house involves a very sharp turn, but can be managed with care (we had a mini-van and did it, but a jeep would be better). Of note: the kitchen is a separate building from the bedroom/livingroom house. The bathrooms are all attached to the bedrooms as well. The sun deck was really cool, but there were about 70+ steep rocky stairs to get down to it. The water was pretty rough too--if you want to get in, you have to navigate the surf and the rocks. I highly recommend planning to visit one or more of St. Thomas's peaceful beaches; the waves are gentle to non-existent, and the beaches are super clean and provide bathrooms. You do have to pay to get in--per person, and also for parking. We visited the Magen's Bay beach, but there are many others that are beautiful as well. Overall, great trip. BRING BUG SPRAY.

30th Anniversary

We were 2 couples who rented (5/23 - 5/29/2015) this villa for our 30th anniversary and the other couples 10th anniversary. We normally do cruises twice a year together. The photos are accurate of the villa. Bruce the neighbor (shared driveway) meet us at the airport rental car desk and told us to meet him at the Puma gas station at the end of the airport road, we did and promptly turned the wrong way at the on coming traffic (island driving). Bruce got us to the villa safely and told us the keys were on the counter for the bedrooms. The views of Meghan's Bay are beautiful and the sunsets amazing. The house is alright needs some updating and maintenance (hand rails or railing on top deck really loose and shaky). The only place that there is a/c is the bedrooms (main bedroom a/c did not work the entire week), glad we weren't 3 couples this would of been miserable . If your handicapped and have to stay in the other bedroom (musky & stale) on the bottom level there are 3 sets of stairs you will have to climb twice daily or more, this was very difficult for my husband and myself (were handicapped) as the a/c in the bedroom on the main level was not working and the other couple in there 70's have heart issues. There are what looks like 2 apartments one over the carport and the other above the patio entrance, these are not included in the rental (lights go on and off and we heard noise coming from the 1 over the carport 1 morning) and I only saw the individual on Thursday evening. My husband and myself made 1 trip down to the sundeck about 100 steps and stairs from the villa. It was easier for us to drive 5 to 10 minutes to Meghan's Bay Beach. The dairy just around the corner has fabulous adult milkshakes, we would get 1 for the ride into town (Charlotte Amalie, Red Hook and ferry to St John). This villa is not exactly what I had in mind for our 30th anniversary, we should of stuck to our original plan and went to Moorea (overwater villas with glass floor & balcony water access) for the same price.

Unique Island Living

We stayed here during Christmas week 2014. An escort met us at the airport at the appointed time and guided us to the villa. Peterborg is a very nice quiet area. We enjoyed walking the neighborhood and out to the Point. What a beautiful view! The villa is about 20 minutes from Red Hook. Once we got use to driving island style it wasn't bad. The roads are steep and the driveway does require a two point turn but the rental minivan got the job done. The villa is as pictured. It was pleasant to leave the screen doors open and listen to the water. We relaxed in the hammock each day. It was fun to watch the hummingbirds and butterflies flutter in the bushes. We did not cook in the villa but the kitchen seemed to be well stocked. We did use the snorkel equipment. It was nice to not have to rent gear for the week. Having beach towels and a cooler provided were also appreciated. The sun deck was most pleasant with an unobstructed view of the Bay. The villa is stocked with a few board games, DVDs, lots of books and CDs. As another reviewer mentioned, there is another building that is a part of the complex but not included in the rental. This unit does have a view of the rental's outdoor deck and pool area. It was empty during our stay. If renting again, I would inquire if this building would be occupied. The owner responded to email and phone calls quickly and answered all our questions. There are two reasons I did not rate the property five stars. The lower bedroom smelled a bit musty. There was a dehumidifier in the room but it was broken. Running the AC helped. Also, there are motion sensor lights on the lower level that did not always operate. It was difficult to navigate the steps in the dark. Overall, this villa is a great value. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Loved it!!!!!

We just recently (03/20-03/27, 2014) rented this beautiful villa in St. Thomas. The photos are very accurate but the villa is even more spacious and beautiful in person. Everything we needed was supplied. It was very clean and cozy. The view of Meghan's Bay was breathtaking and could be seen by every room. The deck by the water is spacious and makes this villa even more attractive. The water out from the deck had some rocks to walk over at first but then it was all sand and crystal clear blue after that. We could leave our screen sliding doors open at night and hear the ocean's waves. The owner was very easy to communicate with and answered any questions we had. There where friendly iguanas walking around but were more scared of us then us of them. The road leading to the villa was somewhat scary at first as are all the roads on St. Thomas. But after a couple of days we were use to it and got around just fine. I felt very safe in the area the villa was located. I would definitly stay here again and give it a 5 star A+.

The villa was comfortable yet worn and a little tired - not be classified as a luxury rental.

We stayed in this villa 16 days in January 2014. As others have posted here, We were concerned about the lack of reviews. Escort was on time to pick us up at the airport. He was a neighbor, sharing the driveway with his home about 50 feet away from the entrance of the villa. At arrival he pointed at the gate and said “the keys should be on the counter”. It was the 1st time we have rented a villa and we were not walked through to tour and learn about the home. The home is about halfway down the Peterborg peninsula, but still within a 20min drive of grocery stores, Red Hook and Downtown Charlotte Amalie. Driving to the house the roads are narrow and the turn into the driveway toward the house takes a two point turn. We found the house clean and presentable, though there were signs of aging and needed updates. One thing not mentioned in the reviews or villa information is that there is an apartment perched above the villa & overlooking the courtyard where the outdoor seating and grill were located. (where we spent most of our time) We were dismayed when we first arrived as we were not sure if it was part of the rental villa and when we figured out it was not – we wondered who was up there. We did not see the person that lived there during our time , lights went off and on so we knew that someone was up there. The villa had 2 buildings on the main level. One building has the kitchen/dining area and a powder room that has a door out to the courtyard/pool area. The second has living room, Queen Bedroom & Master suite w King Bed. The second King bdrm is below the main house with a separate entrance. Washer&dryer on the lower level. also coolers, boogie boards, noodles and the snorkel gear. Steps to Magens are stone, when you get down to the last part it is wooden deck stairs. Being on the water was a huge benefit of this house. We brought a cooler of meat & groceries and cooked. Kitchen was equipped with pans, utensils and glassware. It met our needs for meals – but it is not “chef” ready. The patio tile gets very slippery, the deck rails are a bit shaky and the steps to the lower deck are uneven and winding due to the terrain. Overall, the villa was comfortable yet worn and a little tired. It would not be classified as a luxury rental. information given to us on the pool maintenance, TV, Kitchen appliances was limited. The rental agent was available for questions but from initial inquiry on VRBO to check out there was very low key interface.

Great Relaxation Getaway

Our family of six stayed at Solitude of the Seas in July 2013. Before we arrived, we were a bit apprehensive staying in a home versus a hotel due to the sheer unknown of the condition of the house. The photos online were beautiful, but did the home really look the same? Our fears quickly vanished when we arrived at the beautiful and spacious home! It looked just as beautiful as the photos online! Of course, the first place we ran to was down the 99 steps to the deck. We were huffing and puffing but, by the third day, we all were in better shape! The water was so clear and the views were breathtaking! We even met the friendly iguana that lives in the trees. The home was neat and clean and having the outdoor grill was fabulous! We would highly recommend a vacation here and would definitely stay at this lovely home again!

Best of Magens Bay

We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay at this vacation villa. This is an excellent location on Magens Bay due to direct easy access to the water off a large sunny deck found at the end of a winding stairway through tropical foliage. Spacious common areas included a patio with pool and outdoor dining dividing a well-equipped gathering kitchen on one side and the restful living area on the other. At the end of the day everyone had their private suite all overlooking Magens Bay. A nail biter of a shared driveway became easier to navigate with each trip but there was always some great scenery and nature to ease the way. Other than a few trips into town for groceries and a day trip to St. John, we were quite at home in this lovely vacation villa on the quiet peninsula. I was hesitant to choose this property because there were no reviews. Thankfully, the listing description and photos were accurate. The home and property were comfortably, very clean, and well maintained. With very minor updates it could be considered a luxury rental. The owner was helpful and answered all direct questions. I would definitely recommend this property to a friend or relative.
