NOTE: CHECK IN TIMES ARE 4 - 7. IF YOU NEED A DIFFERENT TIME MAKE PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS with me, which may require an additional fee.

You can feel extremely secure in My Dogwood Cabin at Deer Ridge BECAUSE there are gates onto property.

This cute undated 1970's cabin in the woods to stay at as your, Home Away from Home, is as the pictures tell. Updated yet with remnants of the Retro Vintage feel left in tack.
It is available as a nightly rental or weekly vacation home, each with its own price points and advantages.

The beauty is the location, nestled in the woods with views from indoors through over abundance of windows or, the huge wrap around porch which extends the cabin another 700 sq. feet giving you a bountiful space of nearly 2000 sq ft for your enjoyment.

Keep in mind the property does sit next the the road into the Park, which does mean there can be road noice from folks coming and going into the Park.

All linens furnished. Full Kitchen, dishwasher, range w/oven, full size refrigerator, microwave, dining room and bar with stools. All dishes and flat ware furnished. Pots and Pans and grilling utensils (even hot dog/ marshmallow sticks) provided. Heated and Air Conditioned.

This property is located one mile from the Roaring River State Park, in Missouri. Some nearby lakes include Table Rock Lake and the pristine Beaver Lake. This south western Missouri town is great for the avid fishers or those looking to kick back and relax on the nearby lakes or peaceful beaches. Eagle Rock and Big M's beaches are a little over 15 minutes away. 15 to 30 minutes of scenic driving (or further if you want to travel deeper into the Ozark Mountains) makes this destination perfect for the out door enthusiast with its wide variety of terrains and environments all within one state! Experience The Ozark Mountains at this destination, as you roam through the Mark Twain National Forest that surrounds the area . . . . AND all the places to explore right across the border into NW Arkansas. More lakes and awesome places to explore.

You can enjoy peace and serenity by the open Fire Pit, large wrap around porch or indoors in the large open living space with windows all around you you will feel like you are outdoors.

If you plan your stay in the winter months it is just as beautiful and even more serene and life slows down in this neck of the wood...the cabin has a nice fireplace to hang out next to as you sit all warm and cozy with a cup of coffee or glass of wine . . . watch all the wild life as you do so. Plenty of bird watching can be had while sitting inside. If you take a stroll down the paths through the trees you most likely would spot a deer or two, a few squirrels maybe a red fox or two, here the coyotes and birds. Yes there are black bear in the area but unless you get off deeper into the woods you will not likey encounter any.

A Water Park near by, swimming pool and water slide just down the road. Plenty of near by activities and restaurants.

Roaring River trip
This cabin was fantastic! I feel like the host put a lot of thought into what is important to a guest and it was the little things that made this stay even more enjoyable. The host was easy to communicate with and the cabin was perfect for our group. We come to this area 2 to 3 times a year to trout fish and this is by far the more enjoyable stay we have ever had in the Ozarks. The property is beautiful and quiet. Close to the river and very comfortable. We will be back

Great Getaway Location
This home was a perfect place for my husband and me and our dog. It was quiet and tucked away but close to Roaring River. It gave me a place to read and soak in the beauty of spring while letting my husband get in plenty of fishing. We enjoyed making meals in the kitchen and on the deck, and we were centrally located enough that we could wander around looking at things and end up in Branson for dinner.

Property was very quiet even though ‘on the highway’. Full of trees that blocked any noise. We enjoyed the stay very much.

Great place
I like the location and the property although close to the road fairly quite. The only thing was a small bathroom. BTW the owner left eggs fresh and boiled, grapes, bananas and chocolate muffins with half a craft of orange juice. Was very nice.

Visiting family in Cassville, Missouri
After a few hiccups on the registration , probably of our own making, we were able to spend time at the house. There were two of us, …. my sister and me It was very clean and was equipped well. It was also very thoughtful of the owner to provide fruit, muffins, eggs and orange juice. How thoughtful is that!!! The stay was enjoyable. Kim Marie was exceptionally kind. Highly recommend this location. Bobbie and Jane. PS. We booked for three of us (all sisters in our 70’s). Unfortunately, the youngest sister’s husband had a stroke the night before leaving so she was not able to go with us ! Tragic as she would have loved to be with us.

Great property nestled in the woods. Loved the deck and grilling area. Kim was very responsive and left us homemade pastries and OJ. Can’t beat the location, 5 minutes from the river. Will definitely be back next year!

This was a great cabin with an open living room. We got a lot of use out of the wood burning fireplace. Location to Roaring River was ideal. We will return again in the future.

Fantastic Experience
Our Second time staying with Kim. Both experiences have been phenomenal! The house is just as stated. Kim has updated the kitchen (looks really great) added a Blackstone griddle and more seating on the deck. Checked in with us to see if we needed anything more a couple of times and was quick to respond with any of our needs. Kim accomodates fur babies as well which is a giant plus for us. We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to get away from the hussle and bussle of a heitic work schedule! Even though it is right off the highway it does not effect the peace and quiet! Thank you again Kim, we look forward to staying with you again next year!

Perfect place
This place is just up the hill and only 5 minutes from the best fly fishing area around! The house had everything we needed and the host went above what we expected with just some simple complementary touches. Fruit and breads with some dessert rolls were set out for us to enjoy. Excellent stay for the 4 adults!

Crystal Clear Roaring River
This property is exactly as described online. We traveled to the area for a family reunion. We had 4 adults, two children, and one dog. We had everything we needed with plenty of space. The cabin was clean & conveniently located near the gorgeous river! LOVED our stay here! The property owner is very kind & goes out of her way to make sure your stay is a good one.

Beautiful property
While the house was closer to the road than I had thought before booking, it was so quiet inside. The wrap around porch was perfectly set up with enough chairs to seat a small army. The home was clean, and had everything we needed. There were grills to cook out and we were spaced far enough from others to not hear any noise other than nature and cars passing by. There was a fire pit, but it was too cool at night to use for just two of us. The owners live nearby and have 2 sweet female pups who would occasionally wander over to play with our pup or just hang out and chill while we were outside. All in all, it was a great stay and we will definitely book it again!

Family Spring in the Ozarks
Such a retreatful stay in a secluded property well appointed and very comfortable. Close to the roaring River and a short drive to Eureka Springs, the location is amazing. Great communication and accommodating options with changes to sleeping areas to due our infant grandson’s needs. Loved the indoor wood stove for s’mores during early Springs chill.

stayed for 3 weeks
We were in the area for a month of work on a jobsite near Cassville. The property/house is nice and clean, the owner was a good host. Lack of wifi and the cost of each additional guest caused us to look elsewhere for cheaper/more work friendly options. The fireplace was very nice, beds were comfortable.

Kim Marie is a NIGHTMARE HOST
I have stayed at over a dozen properties now using VRBO and other similar products this is the first time I've ever had a REALLY BAD experience. My friends that came with own 3 rentals. We all agree this was ridiculous Firstly, we never received any house rules, or check-in / out instructions as is commonplace. I had no idea what to expect. I booked in March for July 4th weekend. She overbooked the rental which is supposed to be an instant booking. She reaccommodated us to an unairconditioned yurt for July 4th (the entire reason we were on vacation) When we arrived there was NO WATER, and we had to deal with 3 different service trucks ourselves; hours later we finally had water. Kim Marie made us take our dog out of the car so she could verify there was only one dog. She said condescendingly "Are there TWO DOGS?, that looks like TWO crates" Kim Marie never gave us a key or a code to the door lock, so I felt like anyone could come in and steal our belongings at any time. Kim Marie advertises as pet friendly, but she wasn't very friendly toward her own pet. She left her outside in the rain on our porch all day and night. We let the poor dog in from the rain and kept her overnight. Kim Marie was rude about this. I honestly would have preferred if her dog wasn't around and think it's inappropriate to let your dog roam when you have guests staying, and is a liability risk. Her dog honestly just wouldn't leave us alone, staring through the glass door while it was raining with such sad eyes. When I brought the dog down to her house she was rude and condescending although I was very pleasant. We didn't have good service in the location and Kim Marie basically wanted to know what we were doing all the time. She wanted to charge us when some family from our reunion came over to play card games, but she dropped it. I mean there were way too many times that she wanted to talk to me during the stay. I was on vacation to be AWAY from technology including my phone. She didn't like this. The day before we were supposed to switch to the unairconditioned yurts I get another text with no clear instructions on where the yurts are or how to check-in to them. Pros: Location Near Roaring River Great Bedrooms with comfortable mattresses Cons: Kim Marie - condescending, non-trusting, wants to charge too much and hover over your vacation Dog that won't leave No Lock No Water on Arrival Right up against the highway, not secluded Kim lives super close

Beautiful Property & Cabin
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property. The house nicely updated and clean, lots of room for everyone. She even thinks of personal touches like having cinnamon next to the coffee. We spent most of our time on the beautiful wrap around deck. One of the highlights was our daily visitor Grace, she is a sweet old girl and loves to hang out and sleep on the deck. I love how close this is to Roaring River park, Table Rock Lake and Eureka Springs, AR. We will definitely be staying here again in the future. Thank you Kim, for sharing your lovely cabin with us.

About the host

Hosted by Kim Marie

Host profile image
I am a half native of this area called the Ozarks. My folks were from here, met here, married and moved on to live else where until they settled in Illinois, where I was born and raised. Ever since I was born this is where we came for family holidays, vacations and summers. When I was 9, in 1974, my folks build this little house I now call the Dogwood Cabin. So half my adolescents I lived in Illinois (during the school year) and half here on this property in the summers.

It was a cool place to spend my childhood summers . . . I fell in love with wild life and all it offers. City girl goes to the woods and becomes a country girl.

I moved away and went to live most of my adult life pursuing my dreams, always coming back for mini trips to visit . . . until 2015, my life took a turn and I came back here to claim my families property establishing Lodging facilities, once again . . . pursuing a live long dream of running a Bed & Breakfast. This beautiful wooded land I continue to call Deer Ridge. My father named it back when he acquired it in 1970, developing it into a family retreat. Now it continues as a retreat for you and others who wish to experience this small part of the Ozark Mountains.

Why they chose this property

This place holds many fond memories for me, as I spent most all summers here growing up. This is where I connected with nature, the trees, the birds, all the wild life . . . the peace and the quite. The simplistic way of spending an afternoon or evening. Back than in this area we did not have much service for TV, nor phones. We had to relay on our own imaginations and each other for entertainment.

When my folks were passing from this world, I began my dreaming of an old dream, that started in my early 20's . . . to one day have a bed and breakfast. I saw I had a reason, a way and means to finally make another dream a reality. I had a 'what to do' in this season of my life.

This property and this House among other sites I am developing here is a wonderful place for me to now call my home and my new vocation . . . hosting others as they retreat and unplug from their daily grind . . . getting back to nature and all it has to offer.

Feeling blessed I have been given a chance to come back to my childhood play ground and open it up for others.

What makes this property unique

I am not sure of the uniqueness of this property, unless you aren't use to being in the woods surrounded by trees and wild life. If you are from or live in the city, this place is very unique to you and your experiences perhaps.

I do not do much if anything to the land itself. There is no landscaping except what mother nature does. I think the beauty is in what grows and develops on its own. . . the wild flowers, native grasses if any, trees, mushrooms, ROCKS. Yes rocks LOL.. . after every rainfall there are more rocks unearthed. My father use say 'nothing grow faster or more abundantly here than ROCKS.. I keep the place as 'all natural' as I can yet maintained in a rustic sort of way.
