About this property

Red Roof mountain cabin with Starlink internet!

This recently renovated cabin is located high in the Blue Ridge mountains at around 3,000 feet elevation. It is in the same area as the Shenandoah National Forest and this property borders the park land. You will not see another human being for a half mile in any direction, but you'll see plenty of deer, bear and wildlife! Inside the cabin, you'll find spacious living areas, comfortable bedrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, fast Starlink internet, and large HD smart TVs.

When you look up "remote getaway" in the dictionary, there's a picture of this cabin! :-) Come to rest, relax, have fun and take pleasure in nature's finest wonders. Leave business, nagging email and your hectic work schedule behind for something quiet, peaceful and relaxing!

We've recently worked on filling out the beautiful outdoor area beside the cabin with a new charcoal grill and firepit. This yard area has beautiful views of nature.

This cabin is located "up Tanner's Ridge" as the locals say. In the pictures, you'll see two pictures showing the beautiful overlooks and mountains that you see as you drive to and from the cabin. You'll want to stop and get your own pictures on the drive.

Newly Renovated Lower Level bedroom/bathroom, queen bedroom with bunk bed. The room is detached from the main area and requires walking outside for access.

The base rate includes 4 people. Additional guests are extra, please read the itemized charges carefully. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE for November - March bookings: During these winter months, a four-wheel drive (4WD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) vehicle is required. While there are plenty of dry weekends during those months when a regular vehicle would be fine, you cannot know that in advance. Please take this warning seriously for those months. For the rest of the year, regular 2WD vehicles are fine.

Great secluded spot

My wife and I spent two nights here. The cabin was exactly as advertised and we expected for a great cabin. Having the hot tub was a great bonus. When we come back to this area I will definitely rent from Shenandoah rentals again.

Great Getaway

We loved the property for a long weekend with our dogs. Definitely recommend 4WD though if there is expected weather as stated on the listing. It was beautiful for us with snow and we enjoyed the hot tub room!

Hiking trip

We booked the cabin as a quick hiking trip get away with friends. Being newly renovated it smelled a bit like paint or paint thinner but it was not overwhelming. The property itself is beautiful. We especially loved the screened in front porch for sitting and the hot tub shack with a tv was AWESOME. Much needed for relaxing after driving and hiking all day The beds were not comfortable so that would be main reason for 4 stars not 5. The bathroom would be better if it had an actual locking, swinging door verses a barn door that doesn't latch. But overall so much information was provided, there was star link internet which was super easy to connect too and worked well. No cell service so keep that in mind, but there is a land line provided and information in case of emergencies. For us no service wasnt a problem since that was our goal. The kitchen was fully stocked with any utensils you could think of. The entire place and the hot tub room were all very clean. We would stay again in the future. The host was only a message away if we needed anything or if anything was out of sorts. Overall recommend this beautiful property, if you have a vehicle that can handle the inclines and roads back to it. Also, the star gazing was a huge plus. We saw so many shooting stars and we were lucky enough to actually view the milky way on a clear night.

Wonderful stay

Our stay at the Red Roof Cabin was wonderful! The cabin is nice and clean. WiFi works great. The kitchen was large with a lot of cooking essentials. If you plan on cooking a lot, it’s better if you bring your own pans and knives. During our stay, the hot tub was still under renovation so we didn’t get to try it. But the housekeeper was upfront about it and informed us ahead of time. She has also been very quick to respond whenever I have a question. Be prepared of driving 15-20 minutes on a gravel road on the way to the cabin. There is a small lake nearby the cabin which takes quite a bit of walk to get to (lots of uphills and downhills). If you’re driving to the lake, be mindful that there is a steep hairpin turn, which could be challenging depending on your car. The view outside of the cabin was great! There’s also a fire pit and a gas grill. We enjoyed our quiet weekend in the nice fall weather.

Remote and Lovely

We stayed for 3 days in June 2024. Red Roof served well as an uncrowded, dog-friendly base for exploring the Shenandoah National Park. Everything was very clean and well equipped with dishware and appliances. There's more closet space than the Smithsonian. Loved the fresh mountain air and breezes on the huge screened porch. The NP was about 1 hour's drive, but could be routed through the charming town of Luray. It met our needs perfectly and would certainly return for another vacation.

Wonderful getaway in the woods

My husband, daughter and I stayed at Red Roof in early April and had a fabulous time! The cabin is renovated with some great charm. The kitchen is huge and had all the amenities we needed. The bedrooms were large and the beds were comfortable. My 7 year old loved having her own room with a TV! It was a nice bonus to have the games there for us to use. We played Monopoly & Yahtzee. There was a wide selection of movies to choose from as well. I read all the reviews and "rustic location" was correct for sure! This cabin is at the end of a very long drive from the main road and is well off the map. It is the perfect place to unwind and sit on the screened in porch. The internet was great to keep in touch with the outside world :-) I would highly recommend Red Roof to anyone looking to escape the every day and enjoy nature!

Nice Weekend Away

Overall we loved our weekend stay! This cabin is definitely remote and a wee bit tight for four adults. There were two couples in our group and one baby. It was very convenient to be able to bring our dog last minute as well. So downsides (mostly minor). The listing said it is two queens but I believe it's a full and a queen. Also the door to the bathroom... is not a door. It's more of a cover almost. There is a big crack to see out and you can hear things you probably dont want to hear. I'd advise only to travel here with people you dont mind getting up close and personal with lol. Alsp ot wpuld be nice if there were blankets to use in the common area. The kitchen and cabin overall was very well stocked although be sure to bring coffee, shampoo and paper towels. There is plenty of firewood for fires. The view was very pretty and I enjoyed rocking and looking at the mountains. There is definitely a good mountain view, that you need to scale a mountain to see. I'd advise caution on the roads as parts can be very steep. Overall though we loved it.

Amazing Experience

We had the pleasure of staying with Red Roof last week when we book our trip to Shenandoah National Park. The location was amazing, view was great and there are detail instruction on everything - they send us emails before our visit to ensure we know how to get in (with the key lock). Inside, the place is cozy and lovely, and has everything you need in staying there! I would definitely book again next time.

Quiet and secluded

The drive to this house was a little treacherous. You're basically driving on a steep cliff so take the 4 wheel drive advise seriously! Once we got to the cabin, it was really nice and quiet. The house was neatly kept and everything seemed fairly new and updated. It's a little more remote than expected but drive and views are amazing. It's only 20 mins away from Luray. We hiked the Lower White Canyon Oak Trail and that was about an hour drive from the trailhead.

Fantastic getaway

The cabin exceeded expectations. Comfortable, private, and with beautiful walks just down the road. The cabin was clean and well provided, exactly as advertised and more. Favorite part was the fire pit (with complementary wood) and the well equipped kitchen.

Great getaway!

Overall, the red roof cabin was a delightful stay. It was cleanly and remote. The DVD player and games were so fun. I was surprised by the mountainous terrain you have to navigate on your way in. We ended up leaving a day early because there was supposed to be a snowstorm and my sedan would not have survived the mountain you have to climb on the way in. The owner was very understanding and we got a day refunded. Shenandoah National Park was about 60 minutes from this location. Highly recommend!

Very Secluded, Breathtaking Fall Beauty

My husband and I had the dreamiest getaway at the Red Roof Cabin! The kitchen was fully equipped, a wonderful coffee pot readily available, and modern farmhouse touches throughout. We enjoyed the excellent wifi access in addition to everything you could want in terms of TV channels and a large selection of DVDs to choose from. The views from the porch were unreal with fall hues of red, orange, and yellow. It was a dream. We enjoyed the small creek beyond the cabin as well. We did not have four wheel drive and do not think it is necessary provided it is not snowing or icy on the roads. There are some uphill climbs that a normal vehicle can manage just fine. We had no issues whatsoever in reaching the extremely secluded cabin with our Honda Accord. Would definitely recommend this getaway to anyone!! 10/10!

Cozy, private retreat in the woods

The cabin was very clean and we had everything we needed for a relaxing vacation. We enjoyed coffee on the front porch in the mornings. It did take some time to drive to the park for hiking but the drive was pretty. Luray caverns was only about 30 minutes away.

Peacefully Perfect

We wanted a place that allowed us to disconnect from our everyday for a few days and this was the perfect cabin. The cabin being the last property on the road made it feel just that way. We pretty much lived on the screened porch from coffee in the morning to chillin with a book in the afternoon.

Peaceful

The cabin was just as described. It was very peaceful and relaxing. I was disappointed in that the gravel roads were so steep I really couldn’t go walking up the hills due to my asthma. I also have to say the WiFi was terrible and so was the television, so I felt unplugged and I enjoy surfing the internet and watching videos. If u are a big internet person forget it. The house was great I just wish it was a bit less remote and better WiFi.

Peaceful stay

The property is somewhat hard to find and the roads were gravel and steep which we knew from reading the information before we booked. The property was clean upon arrival. The inside of the cabin is very nicely done and sweet. The kitchen was perfect for making breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed coffee on the outside deck each morning but were sad about no view of the mountains or really anything for that matter. The yard could use some landscaping or at least weed eating. The towels in the house did not smell good and we weren't provided with any wash rags to shower. Overall, I gave 4 stars.

House was clean and provided essentials for cooking, linens, etc. We never could get the living room TV to access satellite channels; had to rely on bedroom TV. We were very disappointed in the scenic views; we wanted a mountain view, only saw trees. (Pictures seemed to indicate view of mountains but only saw that view travelling down the mountain). Bath was not very private; sliding barn type door with wide gaps and no lock; we also had issues with flushing occasionally (low pressure?).

perfect to relax

We were looking for a place to do nothing and just relax. It rained for the first 2 days and we couldn't of cared less, just sat out on the screen porch and enjoyed the sounds and smells of the woods and read. Took short walk in the woods but the trail ran out. Honestly we were just looking for a place to share together and enjoy time together, this was it. Place is very nice, clean and comfortable. Very well kept. Thanks

Good Stay, 40min from Shenandoah

The property had everything we needed. Two separate bedrooms for our daughter and us. Secluded in the woods with a great screened in porch with great views. Cool firepit and charcoal grill. The roads are not as bad as people put. Yes they are steep at times but not unmanageable. Cleanessness got a 4 because my 2 y.o. daughter found a pill in the carpet in her room left by a past guest and could have been a problem. It wasnt an illegal pill but someone's depression meds. It's a very good house and would stay again.
