Juniper on Big Sand Lake - 25 feet from water - panoramic lake view
Juniper was built in 2017 replacing a cabin at Pine Cone Lodge. It is the original shape of the old cabin but is completely new from top to bottom. This two bedroom home accommodates 5 people. It was design with lots of windows to provide a feeling of sitting on a porch. The upper windows on the west provide privacy from the rest of the resort.
Juniper is one of several homes in a resort. The resort is located on Big Sand Lake and Loon Lake. You have access to both. This property is not available for VRBO rentals in the summer Memorial Day through Labor Day. We hope you try out this property at Pine Cone Lodge during the fall, winter or spring.

The cabin is exactly as pictured. Fantastic windows throughout and the lake is steps outside the door. It feels private and remote from inside the cabin even with others nearby. Great spot to stay for visiting Itasca State Park.
Wanting a quaint spot for a quick weekend getaway this place hit it perfect. Bonnie is easy to communicate with and the process is seamless. Will be back!
This property was everything we hoped for! Great location, beautiful surroundings, clean, and very comfortable! Already can’t wait to bring our family back!!
I definitely recommend Juniper if you’re looking for a peaceful getaway. The cabin is clean and modern, but still charming, and it’s near the lake so you can hear the waves and loons. Again, so peaceful!
A couple things to note - it is somewhat close to two other cabins but is situated so there’s still a sense of privacy. Also, remember to bring bathroom/kitchen towels as well as a sponge (or equivalent) to clean pans with. Bonnie was great at communicating this but I wanted to add that here as an FYI.
We wanted to get away and have a nice New Years away. The Pine Cone Lodge was everything we had hoped for. The cabin was cozy but offered a modern feel., making it easy to sit by the fire and enjoy the surrounding views out of the large picture windows. The area offered great sites with plenty to do, even in the winter time. It was just
The stay was wonderful. A booking issue happened and Bonnie promptly offered us a free upgrade.
We were able to enjoy a quiet stay.
Hope to come back again.
This cabin was so cute and perfect for our little girls weekend away. It has two sinks which was really convienient for us girls. Love the fire place, beds were really comfy, and a great view of the lake! Definitely will be staying again!
Our stay at Juniper was in all ways wonderful. The host, Bonnie was responsive and extremely helpful as well as welcoming. The property had clearly been recently fully remodeled, with updated kitchen, bath and bedrooms. The property was spotless.
The view out of the fully glassed in living area as well as the bedrooms made you feel 1000 miles away from anywhere. We found that we settled in quickly and were quickly relaxed and enjoying the lovely location. I would highly recommend any of the units at Pine Cone Lodge.

Thoughtful little cabin, beautiful & convenient location
My sisters and I stayed at Juniper and had a wonderful time. The cabin is full of little details that made it so quaint—the pinecone theme was well done! From cups, to tables to railings. Really nice. It is very thoughtfully laid out, even though the cabin is small. The three of us had plenty of room to spread out. The view of the lake is gorgeous, and the owner was so very hospitable, kind and genuine. In warmer weather we would have made use of all of the water amenities on this crystal clear lake. With towns like Dorset, Nevis and Park Rapids near by, it's easy to run to town to grab things you may have forgotten, or just browse the cute shops. Overall we had a wonderful time and hope to return! Thank you Bonnie!

About the host
Hosted by Bonnie Brand
The Brand family has owned Pine Cone Lodge since 1960 with the third generation starting in 1995. We have changed the resort to be more of a vacation home getaway for our guests. We have removed the old cabins and built homes that are open year round. New homes with the beautiful scenery and lake shore make a wonderful vacation spot.
