CRITICAL SAFETY AND MANAGEMENT CONCERNS - DO NOT RENT FROM VACASA

Our month-long stay (Jan 30-Mar 1) revealed dangerous conditions and negligent management:CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUES:- Non-functional carbon monoxide detector & missing smoke alarm ignored for 48 hours- Vacasa entered WITHOUT CONSENT while our 10-year-old was alone sleeping- Exposed carpet nails caused injury risk- Bunk bed ladder detached during use- Loose stair carpet creating trip hazard- Falling dresser drawers- Only fixed safety issues after VRBO safety team escalationMANAGEMENT FAILURES:- Ignored urgent safety concerns repeatedly- Heater broken at check-in; 48-hour delay- Broken fireplace ignored (fixed by complex staff, not Vacasa)- Refused cleaning service for month-long stay- Denied basic supply refreshes- Leaking fridge, poor dishwasher- Property in severe disrepair: damaged doors/corners, broken furniturePROPERTY ISSUES:- Hazardous old Teflon cookware- Chipped/cracked dishes- Insufficient basic suppliesComplex itself is decent (pet-friendly, near Canyon Lodge, good hot tubs), but Vacasa's dangerous negligence of safety issues and unauthorized entry with minor present makes this an absolute avoid. Their disregard for basic safety and maintenance creates unnecessary risks. If considering this complex, choose different management company.

Perfect place location close to the slopes

It had all the things I look for. Comfy bed, clean and working couches. Hot water for showering. Nothing was broken that caused any inconvenience. It was pet friendly and clean. It was so close to the mountain and you can take the Village back trail right to the condo. I would stay again.

GREAT View

You can see the mountains from every window...even laying in bed. Close to Canyon Lodge. Office, hot tub, pool, sauna are just a short walk. Covered garage with designated space and door. Does require walking up and down 2 flights of stairs. Nice master bath. Gas fireplace. Carpet and decor could use a refresh but definitely comfortable. Bring your own bottled drinking water or a Britta water filter pitcher for the local tap water.

Great Location, Property Needs a Makeover

The location of this property is great and we really enjoyed our time in Mammoth and all it has to offer. That said, we would not stay at this particular unit again. Not sure if the issues as we see them reside with the property management company Vacasa, the owner, or both. During our stay we decided to look at listing and reviews again and see that there are plenty of other reviews that get some of our general thoughts acrossed well and we should have known better than to rent this unit. Here are a few things we found unacceptable with the unit. Screen door to porch was falling off (they did fix this after a few days) We spilled some dry goods on the floor and had to borrow neighbors broom as the unit didn't have one Carpet tack strip exposed on stair landing Broken tile at entry way with sharp edges Primary burner on oven wasn't working when fixed it found it was pretty bad from electricity safety perspective Secondary large burner reverse wired high is low and low is high Drawer by stove can't open without opening oven door Cheapest kitchen tools you can find, spatula all bent up Cheapest pan set you could find stainless steel sticks like crazy For us, we are usually looking for something up to our standard of living, and this was too far from that for us to stay here again If you are looking for a cheaper side unit in a good location and accept all these deficiencies before you go, you will have a great time in Mammoth and the unit is in a good location.

Great place and view

Loved the condo and views. Keep in mind it’s up 3 levels with stairs. The snow storms this winter did massive damage to the area so don’t think the surrounding condos are run down. They are trying to do repairs but that takes time. Keep in mind that if you bring a dog, make sure you leash them. I say this because there are many owners that don’t leash their dog and don’t care. Kind of annoying they don’t follow the by laws of place and city laws.

Very Clean and Spectacular Views!

This is a wonderful condo! It was completely cleaned and sanitized when we arrived. The condo was supplied with all we needed. There are a lot of stairs, but the upside is that after a few days, you will have nice definition in your quads, glutes, and calves! :-)

Yard Sale

Which is fine. I love a good yard sale. Garage sales and thrift stores too. But this is different. And I'm sad to write a negative review. This home is just gross. It is easy to imagine that everything purchased for the home has been bought at yard and garage sales or thrift stores. And none of it is the good stuff. Dresser drawers don't open or close properly. Dining chairs don't fit under the dining table properly. The sofas are caving in and cannot sit comfortably. The swivel recliner is broken and when extended leans forward. The bunk bed is... actually feels unsafe. I woudln't allow my son to use it. The closet for the loft opens into the dark and bangs the bunk bed so it is unusable. The hooks to hang coats and caps are falling apart. ... basically any furnishings in the house intended to provide comfort to the occupants feel so questionable and delicate you're afraid to use them in case they finally break or fall apart. And that's just the furniture. The dishwasher is literally disgusting. Doesn't clean anything. The stove and stovetop are gross. The refrigerator door slams open against the counter tops. The sink faucet is missing parts and is leaking. The upstairs primary bedroom closet door is falling off its track. The closet is jammed with garbage. The carpet seams are all coming apart. The trim and paint and wall treatments are ... just dirty and gross. Enough.. In fairness it would seem obvious that this is a long held condo and is likely very nostalgiacally dear to its owners. I'm sure for them a lot of great memories are held in the walls of this condo. However, as a vacation rental, it is literally disgusting and falls so far below the lowest bar I would advise the owners to take a step back, invest the funds needed to make it appropriate to a vacation rental audience and start over. Thank you.

Dingy and Drab, With a Killer View

Some reviewers complain about the stairs, and there are a lot of stairs, but that's not a big deal for me. I was happy with the initial appearance of the place and it's in a great location--close but not too close to everything you would want in Mammoth Lakes. The view from the dinning room and small balcony is great. That's the plus side. In every other way, from the smell and feel of the SHAG carpet to the patina of stickiness on the cabinet handles, the crumbs found on the dining chair, the uncomfortable furniture, the overall griminess of the whole ensemble, and, what becomes an insufferable repellence to touch anything because it would make you feel soiled with your surroundings--this is just a place I would never stoop to stay in again. If the whole place were gutted and retread, it would be a pretty cool place to use as a base, but we just couldn't take the "feel" of it. Live and learn.

Stay in early August, 2021

We loved the views from the condo, the way the first level if put together and appointed, and how it is decorated throughout. The beds in the loft were very cramped, however, and the bunk bed did not have lighting for reading. 3 of the 4 burners on the stove didn't work.
