About this property

Exclusive Escape - Old Stone House ,Private Pool ,Pet Friendly

The country house Villa Lavrika is set in over 10 acres of private land,in the hamlet called Pruhari and has a beautiful view of nature and the countryside .We live in an isolated village where you will be be almost alone with the surprising silence, with only birds to hear. The villa is ideal for family gatherings or a getaway with your friends. Children will enjoy the pool and our pets. Your pets are also welcome. At the entrance is a veranda with a coffee table for enjoying your morning cup of good italian cappuccino or smoking and talking with friends. Particularly attractive is the terrace which extends to the backyard with views of the surrounding hills, so it is the ideal place for dining and relaxing. It is perfect for self catering holidays as the kitchen is well equipped and there is a BBQ with a pizza oven on the terrace, all with a free supply of wood. If you don't want to cook there are various restaurants close by. We’ve opened up our home to you with the knowledge that you will feel as comfortable as we do. The interior is well equipped and furnished to a high standard and contains every modern comfort, providing a real home away from home experience, should you require it, from Wi-Fi , TV, a collection of musical CDs. It is beautifully furnished with the old, refurbished furniture originally found in the house, while the other details are meticulously restored to portray all the beauty and anguish that once existed in all village architecture. The accommodation comprises of a farmhouse-style kitchen, a spacious and cozy dining room with a spacious table; peaceful sitting room, double sofa bed, TV, etc. ; a good selection of books, CDs are provided ; Two chic, stylish bedrooms with large double beds. Upstairs is a large open space with lovely views over the gardens , with 3 beds (2 twin beds which can be joined). Downstairs you can use the bathroom with a lovely vintage bathtub. The upstairs bathroom has a marvelous floor painting. In fact every part of this house has a unique touch of the owner who is fond of painting floors, furniture, ceilings, doors, etc.
We've adapted it to suit our personal interests, and so have included a rich music and literary library, which you will be free to enjoy .This villa offers you the choice of getting out and exploring the area or simply staying in, sitting around the pool, or getting the barbecue prepared for the evening meal. In autumn you can have a lot of possibilities in our village such as you can get the fresh an young olive oil that is one of the most healthy and has a special taste, we have a grapes collection so there is a young wine, if you are on the other hand a mushroom fans in October the truffles are ready for hunting and there are other mushrooms as well. Don't worry about the weather because it can be still warm and maybe good for swimming too,it happens sometimes. Whether you stay put or venture out, you will not be disappointed with your day, you will enjoy it for sure. To share the best moments from your vacation with friends, an unlimited Wi-Fi connection is at your service.

Gastfreundschaft pur

A magical week away!
We had a lovely week in this home. Swimming, playing with Dario (the dog), exploring the property and the area. The outdoor "kitchen" (wood burning bbq and a sink next to the house) was wonderful. The house had everything we needed, lots of space and a large collection of books and music. We would happily return here when the opportunity presents!

Absolut empfehlenswert!

Beautiful, quiet farmhouse with generous hosts
Pruhari is a small, abandoned hamlet of about eight houses with a fascinating history, where the owners' family have lived for years. They live in one of the houses adjoining the rental property, and are generous hosts who provided us with lots of extra comforts and good company during our stay. The house itself if beautifully decorated, and we appreciated the extensive library and music collection. There is AC on the upper floor where the books, tv, and two small bedrooms (not entirely private) are located along with a shower room. Downstairs is a large farmhouse kitchen and two further double bedrooms, as well as a bathroom with large freestanding bath. Everything is furnished to a high specification and tastefully decorated. Outside there is a dining table under the grape arbour, a pizza oven and bbq across the patio, a pool table, and across the lawn stairs ascend to the pool area with awning and loungers. There is a further hill with playground equipment and quaint hut, and the views of the sunset from here are wonderful. The property is located in a quiet, remote area near Buzet (a good supermarket, Plodine, can be found in town), with views of hills and nothing but the sound of wind in the trees - and occasional barking from the owners' two lovely dogs, who showed us some of the walking routes around the hilltop, which start from the property. We spent a week of rest and relaxation here, eating figs from the profuse tree, listening to music, swimming by day and night. Would love to return, and we wish the owners every success.

Amazing experience in a beautiful country house, with best hosts ever!
Pruhari is a tiny little village located in the charming green hills of Istria. It's extremely quiet, nature is all around, and the house is made of thick wall stones in the ancient way, making it a cool place in the heat of the summer. We had a beautiful view from the swimming pool and a large garden set for children. Our hosts have been perfect, bringing fresh vegetables regularly and even inviting us two times to taste their local recipes, which were delicious. We have visited almost every known village of Istria, it's a bit of daily travel but much worth it: Pula, Porec, Rovinj, Motovun, etc. From Roman empire to Venetian heritage, there's a lot to visit. And it was always a pleasure to come back to our lovely house, away from the crowd, watching the stars at night. An experience we definitely recommend and which we will repeat soon!

Villa in Istria
This is a really magical spot. Lovely generous hosts who shared food and wine with us without being at all intrusive. Two delightful friendly dogs, Dario and Ala, and two (sometimes three) cats. Lots of peace and quiet as the nearest town is 10mins away but has everything there. Istria is a magical place and this is a great place to stay. Thoroughly recommend.

Rural retreat
Up in the hills this deserted hamlet is a perfect getaway. The owners are very welcoming and provided us with several meals during our stay which were all fantastic! We got a good flavour of village life tasting their olive oil and brandy. The children got to drive the tractor and ring the church bells on Sunday! They have 2 dogs which were good companions. The house is spacious and the photos are all accurate. The air con upstairs was good. Wifi is as you may expect from a rural location. There were lots of good outside spaces and a fabulous barbeque. We really enjoyed the swimming pool which was a good size. There is plenty to see and do. Highlights were zipwiring in Pazin and the Istralandia aquapark, both approx 30km away as well as Motovun village 12km away. There is a good local supermarket in Buzet. Local restaurants offer more classic fare than the food available in 'resort' towns. Probably worth mentioning that the route up to the villa in Pruhari just past Mali Mlun from the turning nearest to Motovun is very narrow and winding with few passing places. We preferred to approach from the turning nearer Buzet going through Veli Mlun. We would recommend this for sure but it is more rural (though still well located to access lots of attractions).

Great house in beautiful setting
We loved this house! The owner was a dear and even brought us dinner the first night there plus a bottle of wine. She was a joy to talk to and learn about the area. This house is located in a area with a lot to see and explore. We received great suggestions from the owner and had a completely wonderful experience. We would definitely recommend this to others.

Geheimtip in Istrien
Kennen Sie Pruhari? Restaurant Tip: Konoba Roko in Buzet. Fantastische Küche! Wir kommen auf jedenfall wieder. * Emmi vermisst Arga ;-) Herzliche Grüße Matthias, Simone & Emmi

Wunderbarer Sommer

Man ist also wirklich ungestört. In Summe also alles heimelig und perfekt.

Wer Ruhe finden möchte, bleibt in Pruhari.

Authentic and serene hill-top retreat
We had the pleasure of spending 14 days at the cozy and authentic Villa Lavrika in the small Pruhari stone house settlement in the beautiful hills of Buzet. We were 6 adults, 1 child and 2 dogs. Prior to our arrival we had a great correspondence with the hosts, so we were very confident that everything was in order when we left for Croatia – and it surely was. Arriving late Saturday evening, after a long car ride we where greeted by 4 very hospitable people - Irena, Miljenko, Mladen and Jasminka - who had arranged a home cooked meal for us, all set up and ready at the dining table. The house was everything we hoped for – authentic in style and charmingly decorated, but with all modern necessities available (TV, Wi-fi, bean-to-cup coffee machine etc.) Beds for everyone and two nice bathrooms (one with shower, one with bathtub) which made the morning routines a little easier being such a large group of people. We spent most of our stay outside in the garden area closest to the house. A nice green area with grass, bushes and trees. In an elevated part of the grounds the pool is located. We cooked multiple meals in the outdoor pizza oven and on the firewood grill, placed close to an outdoor dining area – an entertaining and exciting way to cook. The area around the house is ideal for hiking, and we had the pleasure of being accompanied by Arga (the hosts’ dog) on all our trips. Our hosts were very helpful in regards to recommendations on sights, restaurants and local specialities. For instance we received a hand-drawn map of the market area in Rijeka and a list of translations so we could go shopping for fresh foods on the market, rather than just going to the supermarket. Our landlord even proposed to shop for us at a couple of local farmers in the nearby area, where we could get fresh lamb, vegetables, cheeses etc. I must emphasise the necessity of having a vehicle when staying at Villa Lavrika – the serenity and privacy you get, is on the cost of “convenience” in regards to easy shopping. We ended our stay with an incredible dinner cooked by our hosts. It was an amazing evening with wonderful food and great company by Irena, Miljenko, and Mladen, where we enjoyed local wine and beer, shared stories and talked about Croatia. I highly recommend staying at Villa Lavrika for anyone looking for an authentic experience, with good hosts in nice surroundings.

Host profile image
Pruhari is the birthplace of our ancestors. They built these houses with their own hands. It is an old familiar place. We think of Pruhari as a spiritual, aesthetic, and anthropogenic landscape, as well as the self-evident, existential frame of our family.
Completely out of personal and familiar ambitions there exists an idea of wider enrichment of the entire region and community through revitalization of the village, in the sense of sustained development. We spent the last 23 years and all of our savings in restoring the houses in the village, and we are very proud of such a job, because it was the village of our ancestors and we saved it from disappearing and being forgotten.
This traditional village was constructed by our ancestors 100 years and more ago, entirely of stone, and is adorned with characteristic balconies, under which lie well-cooled wine cellars.

Why they chose this property

Pruhari arose in the mid-19th century, but the chapel on the nearby hill originates back to 1555, proven by the Glagolithic title on the entrance. We live in privacy, neighbored only by vineyards, olive groves, and truffle-rich forests. The wines, and the olive oil in particular, are first class, as are the truffles, a rare and valued mushroom.

What makes this property unique

The villa makes an ideal base to explore Istria with lovely towns and coastal resorts, all within short distance .This is an ideal place to escape from busy life , big cities. Great for families with small children , nature lovers and for all people who are looking for a relaxation and rest.In this small and unique region, one glimpse will uncover an entire abundance of luxurious diversity; from a snowy white Ćićarija winter, to an aqua blue sea, to the greens of the vineyards. With it medieval towns/villages, festivals, stuning verdant scenery, breath-taking coast, seafood and rustic cusine, the Istrian peninsula offers something for everyone.
