Great house, great location!
Perfect way to extend a work trip and have some fun! We walked everywhere from this location- tons of food, happy hours, parks etc. nearby. Even a good vegan restaurant. House was beautiful and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Would stay here again in a second.

Perfect location. Lots of charm.
Great location, just a block or two from the St. Charles Street car and also prime location for a lovely stroll down Magazine and historic Garden District. Laura was great - even offered gardening tips. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely Double Shotgun with Modern Amenities
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 6 night stay in Lauren's historical home. It is in a convenient and safe location for exploring NOLA. There is plenty of free street parking. The architectural features of the home lend a cozy atmosphere while the modern updates provided necessary convenience. The photos of the interior are accurate and we loved the many mid-century furnishings. The king size bed is super comfortable - we slept like babies. We were also thankful for the a/c as the humidity seemed unbearable to us as northern VA folks. The bathroom though small has everything we needed and we found the storage adequate for our needs. The full kitchen does lack a bit in terms of cookware. A small or midsize skillet would be helpful for breakfast prep. Albeit that one inconvenience did not interfere with our stay and we give a 5 star recommendation for this property. Lauren is very responsive and accommodating when I messed up our departure date. Thank you Lauren!

Quaint New Orleans charm in a central location.
The property was just as described and the host was friendly. Very New Orleans if you are wanting that charm. Walking distance from Garden District activities, and just a 10 minute drive from French Quarter. Only negative, and this is just me being picky: Bathroom was slightly challenging. There are no countertops. (I had to keep all my makeup, contact, and hair stuff on the kitchen counters.) The toilet is jammed between a claw foot tub and a sink. If you're, ahem, of a wider girth, you feel really jammed in. Combine that with eating great New Orleans food and, well, use your imagination. But I managed and overall I would stay the weekend there again.

Beautiful Shotgun Home in the Lower Garden District
Laura's property was clean, quiet and comfortable. It is perfectly positioned away from the hustle and bustle of the Quarter but not too far away if you want to venture there. There are amazing dining, drinking and shopping opportunities within walking distance and we felt safe in the neighborhood. My only qualm was that the A/C could have been a little bit better. However we were there during a heatwave so definitely a factor.

Hidden Gem in a Great Spot
What an amazing find. Quiet neighborhood with personality located right off fabulous Magazine St. It is centrally located, not far from the Quarter and near popular parade routes. This little wonder is stylishly appointed, mid century modern and very clean. It is roomy and light. We were so comfortable and are most definitely coming back!

Incredible Design, Best Possible Location
Laura's home is a beautiful double shotgun in the historic Lower Garden District, close to great bars and green juice spots (pick your poison). The space is a beautifully designed historic home with tall ceilings and hardwood floors -- quintessential New Orleans with a modern flair. Laura lives next door, so we ran into her while she was watering her plants one morning. She was very friendly and helpful. We were able to get groceries at Dyrades down the street and cook some meals, but Laura had a guidebook that helped us find restaurants, shopping, and bars close by (highly recommend the sandwiches at Cochon Butcher). There are so many amazing places to eat. We were able to take the street car down to Audubon Park and walk to the WWII Museum in about 10 minutes. Overall, we had a great time and hope to be able to stay again!

Adorable French Shotgun in a Great Location!!
This house is wonderful for its historical architectural details, high ceilings, transom windows and pocket doors. By far, the best part of this house is its location and close proximity to the French Quarter and the Garden District. It is a close walk to the Quarter, the Convention Center and situated the Lower Garden District. It is clean, well-maintained and very comfortable. It has lots of room to spread out and feel at home. I loved my time there!

Jazz Fest Digs
A great space to come home to at the end of a music filled day. The location was convenient whether we were running off to the Jazz Fest, meeting friends or looking for food. We definitely would stay here again!

About the host

I believe in living actively and enjoying the adventure as much as I possibly can. Whether its a show, art opening, or dinner with friends - I am usually good at finding fun things to get into.

Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, I spent the last 13 years living all over the US - Atlanta, Miami Beach, San Diego, San Francisco, and Brooklyn. So, I've experienced many different types of people and love making new friends. Back in December, the opportunity to move back home presented itself, and I jumped. Being in New Orleans, I can't help but smile every day. Hailing originally from Louisiana, I've got that southern hospitality vibe going on. I have literally never met a stranger.

I am a very excitable person - a natural extrovert - but I am also easy-going. I like to explore and go on adventures... weekend trips are HUGE in my world. Getting out of the city is very important to me.

As a guest, I am autonomous and quite friendly (southern vibe! #FTW) so I keep things chill. I am very clean and respectful of other people. I tidy after myself and try hard not to leave mess. :)

My life's motto is to never stop growing and experiencing. That is the most important virtue in my book.

Come and stay with me - it'll be a real big blast.

Why they chose this property

The Lower Garden District has a historical charm with a gritty, urban vibe that gets me so excited. Everyone in this part of the city loves their neighborhood and values the culture.

The LGD is also super close to the Central Business District [CBD], the French Quarter, and Magazine Street. Everything is accessible by foot, but the streetcar is only 1.5 blocks down the street. It's a very special slice of New Orleans.

What makes this property unique

It's not often you get to live in a space that was built during the Storyville era!

Experience the history of New Orleans in this Storyville Shotgun [aka two homes under one roof, some may call this a type of condo]. My home was built in 1898, which was the height of the Storyville area. With 12-foot ceilings, oak wood floors, and chimney faces in every room, this home is steeped in New Orleans charm.
