Hidden Gem
Very Clean and such a nice area. We chose this place because it was close to a friend's house who we were visiting. Not disappointed at all other than the weather which is out of everyone's control. Definitely a nice place for a get-a-way!!

Wonderful Private Lake house
Private, sweet accommodations for two-couples are best - one comfortable bed. Classy kitchen for two as well. All comes with double and single kayaks, a canoe and a sunfish sailboat, perfect for active or relaxing time. Swimming is 8 steps off the porch. Just have to be good with a tight spiral staircase and you’ll be happy you booked Willow’s place. We were.

POKEY BOATHOUSE
Well appointed, clean, and comfortable camp perfect for quiet relaxation. Best sunsets from this location and darkest skies for star gazing. We had supper from the upper deck each night while the sun went down. Thank you Willow.

Paradise on the water!
Absolutely fantastic time at the lake house. The property was exactly as described and 10 feet from the lake. We fished, kayaked, swam and sunned by day and had a fire on the beach at night. We saw eagles flying over the water, deer across the lake, and loons, ducks and geese swimming by. Willow and Gary are great folks and Leo and Autumn were so much fun. ❤️ ❤❤

Perfect 50th Anniversary
We totally enjoyed our anniversary stay in this lovely cottage on the lake. The cottage was extremely clean and well stocked with anything needed. It was quite and peaceful overlooking the lake to fish or simply view loons nearby. Definitely a treasure to return to.

Perfect getaway
We had a wonderful time staying at this lakeside cottage. Willow and Greg and Autumn( their pup) were the perfect hosts. They were available for anything we needed, including letting us use their boat when ours was being repaired, but also allowed us to have all the privacy we wanted. The cottage sits right at the water's edge and the sound of the lapping waves lulled us to sleep every night and the view of the lake from the top deck was fantastic. The fishing on the lake was outstanding and we caught a combination of small and large mouth bass along with some feisty pickerel. We would highly recommend this cottage.

A true gem!
Property is an absolutely beautiful, well-thought-out, well-apportioned cottage right on Pocomoonshine Lake. Willow supplies everything from 3 types of boats to binoculars to board games. There's an upstairs balcony and a large deck downstairs over the water, and even a screened-in gazebo for your own personal use! Willow is a very friendly Down East sort who lives in the house behind, but it's still very private. She's doing some renovations on her house, but my family was never bothered by noise. She recently adopted a large dog not mentioned in the listing but she was sweet and not bothersome. Would stay there again!

Christmas getaway
Although this was a last minute booking and the property should not have been available. The property owner was fantastic and very accommodating. This was the very best christmas we have had in many years, quiet, peaceful and just for two. The first day after waking up there was a beautiful bald eagle in the ice. The cabin and kitchen were fully stocked with every utensil and appliance needed. kayaks and canoes were also available. (Too bad lake was frozen) what I truly loved what this little rustic cabin is right on the lake and you could fish right off the back porch if wanted. Hopeful to be back in spring and fall for fishing and relaxation. This is a fantastic place to get away from all the covid madness and just get back to nature.... Thank you so much willow and Greg. I am a workaholic and the few days at your cabin recharged me to take the new year and all that comes with it head on... Truly better than any 4or 5 star hotel.

Truly A Perfect Place
The boat house is a delight - absolutely charming. Cozy, comfortable, completely private, right at the edge of the lake with a lovely view from the porch or dock. Willow and Greg leave you entirely alone, but are right there if you need help with anything in the house or advice, for example, about the location of the nearest farm stand. A bonus: the most fully-equipped kitchen and supplied pantry of any place we have stayed - really first class.

Off the grid on a serene lake
This cottage on Lake Pocomoonshine was exactly what my husband and I were looking for to celebrate our 25th anniversary, as our children were on a trip elsewhere. The owner, Willow, was super communicative and was looking out for us on the night of our arrival as the ride took longer than we expected. She encouraged us to take in the sunset and that night and every night thereafter, we experienced breath-taking sunsets over the mountains and water. The cottage is perfect for 2 people and is perfectly appointed, including Cuisinart cookware and a Bunn coffee maker. Each morning we drank our coffee on the upper deck looking out over the lake and it was glorious. In the afternoons, we often sat out on the dock either reading or sitting on the edge with our feet in the water. To my surprise, the lake was a wonderful temperature and was warm our entire trip. The property comes equipped with kayaks and a canoe. The one thing to be careful of in the house is the spiral staircase which leads from the upstairs to the downstairs. It took a little bit for me to adjust to it and going to the bathroom at night (the bathroom is on the upper level), one has to be careful. The bedroom downstairs was quiet and cool and also has a deck and sliding glass doors leading out to the lake. The house is located in a rather rural part of Maine. So be prepared to drive 20 minutes to the nearest market and at least an hour to get to other areas of interest. Alexander is located rather close to Canada and we did two day trips: one to Campobello Island, where FDR and Eleanor had a summer residence, and another to St. Andrews by the Sea. We highly recommend both! Be sure to bring your passport. We also went to nearby towns in Maine, such as Calais, Easport, Lubec, and we did the hike at the Cutler Coast Public Reserve Land. Cell phone coverage for us was spotty at times and I would encourage you to bring a map of Maine (we came with a US/Canadian atlas but also picked up a more detailed map of Maine). Our stay was wonderful and Willow was so communicative. If I emailed with a question or advice on where to go, she always promptly responded. She also has a house that is up behind the cottage although we did not see her aside from the first night as she respects the privacy of her guests. We had a fantastic time at the cottage and during our stay in Maine and highly recommend it!

Romantic Waterfront Boat House
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent 4 day stay at the Boat House. Right on the water with a small beach and dock. Although I had my own canoe anything you need to enjoy the lake is provided, canoes, kayaks and even a fishing pole rigged with a lure. The fishing was great, I averaged a dozen bass a day, mostly smallmouth. My wife finished a book she was working on while enjoying the great views from the deck. Very peaceful and serene location. We saw Loons and I saw a Deer on one of the islands while I was fishing. Fully equipped kitchen. Our host Willow was very gracious and respectful of her guests privacy. Bring your food and drink of choice and settle in. We hope to return in the future. Steve and Elizabeth

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on beautiful Pocomoonshine Lake!
Right on the water, with lots of privacy, views, swimming and kayaking, your choice of many spots to sit both in and out by the water to enjoy the view, and lots of comforts in a clean and comfortable cottage, this was a great place to stay. It isn’t far from Calais and allowed us to make some side trips in eastern Maine. New appliances and the stuff you need for cooking. Interior wood paneling and lots of windows make it easy to relax. The bed downstairs is comfortable but with the circular stair you might be up and down at times. Willow was welcoming, communicated ahead of our arrival and answered any questions. My favorite times were exploring by kayak alongside loons and dragonflies on the lake, enjoying the sunset from the upstairs balcony, relaxing and hearing some loons in the quiet night. We hope we’ll make it back for a longer visit next year!

We are smitten with this lakeside cottage on Pocomoonshine Lake!
On a lark, I googled "maine cottage lake" and this VRBO listing came up. Meant to be. Our 3 night/4 day stay was exactly what the doctor ordered.Wish we had booked an entire week. The cottage is lovely, clean, inviting. The view stunning and the lake access immediate. My husband and I spent 4 days swimming, walking, kayaking, reading, biking, hiking, scrabbling and golfing (yes, there is a sweet public 9 hole course in Calais, 15 minutes away). In 4 days we maybe saw 6 boats on the lake ... quiet and peaceful. This would be a perfect getaway cottage for a small, young family (2 adults, 1-2 small children), or a couple, not for 4 adults. BUT, there is another cottage on the property which we intend to rent in tandem with this one when we return next year with my daughter and her boyfriend. Be prepared, though, closest stores and restaurants close early ... bring food! This spot is a sweet one ... and the owners who live on the property are lovely, accommodating and respectful of your privacy. We saw them once in 4 days! We took a drive one evening to Eastport for dinner (30 minutes away) which was a beautiful drive. Great lobster rolls! We will be back ...
