Riverfront Cottage with Dock, Screened Porch and View
This modern riverfront cottage in the northern Adirondacks has a screened porch and wood burning fireplace, deck off the second floor and patio by the water. It is fully furnished and has fully equiped kitchen and linens are supplied. There is high-speed internet and a telephone. It is close to conveniences yet quiet and peaceful. You will enjoy fishing, canoeing, swimming, and nearby northern Adirondack lakes and towns. World class snow skiing is available nearby and it is close to five colleges and universities.
This is a friendly, peaceful area. There is the opportunity for quiet relaxation as well as numerous outdoor activities. We love the area and purchased this cottage as a retirement home. We hope someday to live there year round. Within an hour and a half of Ottawa Canada and Lake Placid New York.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Host was welcoming and very quick to answer any questions. It was nice and quiet with beautiful fall foliage as we sat by the river. We had some rain while there, but being able to have a fire inside made it very enjoyable. Two bathrooms, one on each floor is a definite plus. The beds were comfortable as was the furniture in the living room. Lots of places to go hiking with an abundance of waterfalls. All around an enjoyable stay!

Could’ve been so much better with a couple updates
We arrived after dark and it was very difficult getting ourselves and our luggage into the place as there wasn’t much lighting outside and no one had left a light on inside for us. The lock box with the key was not the easiest to use (and honestly, the place could have REALLY benefited from a keyless entry pad). Additionally, there was no paved path to get to the front door - just a moved grass path which was better than nothing. The beds were comfortable (which we also had to put sheets on ourselves) but the light in the upstairs bedroom wouldn’t go off unless we turned off the whole ceiling fan, making the evenings quite stuffy. There was also no furniture on the balcony so we couldn’t really use it. Maybe we were just one of the last ones to rent this place for the season, but it just seemed like there were a lot of things in need of repair.
The house is spacious and very agreeable for a family with space for all. I will keep fond memories watching my kids in a canoe laughing. And the incredible view from tje kitchen and garden are wonderful memories for life
From arrival to departure all was great, clean and a beautiful and home like feeling. Leaving was hard, I just wanted to stay a few more days. I look forward to returning and hope that it will be available. This was truly a memorable stay.
We chose this location based on its listing and location to several North Country Colleges. The inside was very nice and clean and there were air conditioners available for comfort (it was a warm weekend).
The house was wonderful! The listing was accurate, the house was clean and comfortable and perfectly located for visiting the local colleges and exploring the Adirondacks!

Great potential but disappointing
This property has huge potential, but has been neglected. Great riverfront view, bedrooms and baths are decent, but kitchen had not been cleaned before we arrived. Grill is broken and unusable. Mold growing under and near kitchen sink. We spent our first night cleaning and repairing broken items. Outside deck area is spacious, but hadn’t been swept or cared for. Bath towels are old, living room furniture is old and smells like sweat. Black silt deposits in tub and sinks.
Owners were available and are aware of this feedback.
We rented over SLU graduation weekend and it was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of campus festivities. Quiet, peaceful and only a 20 min drive to campus.
A little confused upon arriving maybe the roads and turns and finding the entrance perhaps a welcome sign over the door would help. Everything else was very good. Lots of room well supplied the deck and river with view was great. Watch that first step though!
Bathroom on each floor is always welcome.
No problem getting someone on the phone as needed.
A little further from the thousand island attractions and tours than we planned on. However those areas may have been more crowded than we would like as well.
I would recommend this place to anyone. Pricing was right for the property.
If it were my place I’d change a few things but it’s not.
The location is excellent with a beautiful view of the Raquette River. Very nice home with comfortable bed and everything we needed. The exterior of the house, the yard and landscaping has been neglected and contrasts significantly with the very well maintained properties on either side, which was slightly embarrassing but we enjoyed our stay nevertheless. Did not meet the owner but they were available by telephone when needed.
We are senior citizens and loved the property but we had a lot of trouble with the very low toilets and couldn’t get into the water because of the high step down from the deck stairs We went swimming at stoner park
The river was so beautiful and peaceful. The screened porch that had a view of the river was amazing. It is very spacious with lots of room for sleeping.
We enjoy our stay on the river at this cozy cottage. We were in town for our daughters graduation from Clarkson University which was a short drive away. Mary was very communicative and promptly replied to all our questions. The home was well appointed and we had everything we needed. It was an unseasonably warm weekend and I can imagine how beautiful it must in the summertime. Thanks for a wonderful weekend!

Quirky cabin on the Raquette River
It was pretty decent for a cottage in the NY North Country with tons of potential. Don’t expect five star hotel cleanliness here. It’s a cabin in the woods, built in the 90’s and not much improved since. An interesting mismatch of old furniture and less than comfortable (unmade) beds. Every light in the house had at least one or all light bulbs out. The carpet throughout the house was pretty nasty, stained with a musty smell.
Communication with the host was minimal and mostly VRBO automated messages. Very difficult to find the driveway at night. The listing photos may be a few years old and don’t necessarily depict what it looks like today.
On the positive side, the dock was new and river is beautiful.
Didn’t know upstairs bathroom was in a bed room.Camp was well supplied, could be cleaner, swift current not ideal for swimming, nice view, steep inclines difficult for handicapped
Owners are accessible and helpful. Kitchen is extremely well supplied. Enjoyed spending time with our families as we had moved south two years ago. Beautiful area!
This was our second time here this summer! We love the safe, quiet setting, the view is beautiful over the water; the kids have a ball. Owners are very accommodating and we appreciate them sharing their lovely home.
Property is large and the location is great. The kitchen is well stocked with many pots/pans, cutlery, etc. Only two of us staying there so there was plenty of room for us. Note that upstairs bathroom is in suite w/ main bedroom which means anyone staying in the smaller upstairs bedroom (w/ 2 twin beds) would have to enter the main bedroom to access the bathroom, or else use the bathroom downstairs. Outdoor deck by the river is very nice..
This cabin was secluded, neighbors on each side but very quiet. Peaceful setting, no cabins across the water just trees and birds. Kids swam off the steps but it was deep water so they wore life jackets. There was a nice dock so my kids grand dad brought down his boat for rides. Cabin is huge, well appointed and everything you need to stay for awhile. Highly recommend! We are going back in July!
